We all have pride, or suffer from it.

What is pride.. and does it rob God of anything?

NOT DOORMATS, BUT HUMBLE. NOT TO THINK MORE HIGHLY OF OURSELVES
THAN WE OUGHT TO.

Pride includes not admittiing we need other people and that we are actually poor in spirit.

Revelation 3:17
You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realise that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.

I think pride is how we treat people. We treat them as if we are better than they are.

pride is thinking we are in control of our lives or the world or other people. Pride is thinking we own things and denying that God owns everything and its all in loan for our use for we are His servants and children.

Pride is the sin that got Satan cast out of Heaven. Confidence is not the same thing as pride. Confidence should be based upon God's truth about our true positions in the world as caretakers of His creation, not owners.

Isaiah 14
The Fall of Lucifer

12 “ How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
13 For you have said in your heart:

‘ I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’
15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,
To the lowest depths of the Pit.

We always have to ask God to help us. Show us if we are wrong and be willing to hear him if says we are.

Pride steals all that is the ggod work of Jesus in ones life and others.

I am afraid of pride my friend. It is a poison. Pride says to God, ''I have this, I am in control, take a seat.'' And because of this Satan was cast down from heaven. And that pride eats at him forever. It is a seal of judgement on him. And this is what he will use to anyone who decides to tell God to take a hike.

I am afraid of this, because this is what poisons MANY MANY MANY Christians. And MANY MANY MANY people are in hell RIGHT NOW because of it.

Many people began good in the Lord, but they let pride come in and then they died in it and they are in hell RIGHT NOW!

I constantly ask Jesus to help me and keep me from ALL sin. I need his help, as without him I can do nothing.

May Jesus bless you.

I must begin by stating there are different forms of Pride; one can be Proud of the things of the Lord - this is the correct spiritual pride that is expected of us. Then there is the physical selfish Pride which was the same initiated by Lucifer in plotting against almighty God, this form is not accepted by God.

The middle letter of pride is I the middle of sin is I. Satan had an I problem

Isaiah 14:12-14
(12) How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
(13) For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
(14) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Christ is the opposite

Philippians 2:4-8
(4) Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
(5) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
(6) Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
(7) But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
(8) And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Matthew 23:11-12
(11) But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
(12) And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

Pride sees no need, pride will not say sorry, pride will not listen. But Jesus said

John 10:27
(27) My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

This account is where we first see the results of a created being lifting themself up in their own understanding and desires, not being content with their created design and what they were given to fulfill in God's eternal purpose. The iniquity that was found in Lucifer was the exalted pride to be like the Most High that turned into a conspiratorial evil rebellion that resulted in quickly falling (being abased) from his own place in heaven as a bolt of light (Lk 10:18)

Prov 16:18 Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Ez 30:6 'Thus says the LORD: "Those who uphold Egypt (the world) shall fall, And the pride of her power shall come down. From Migdol [to] Syene, those within her shall fall by the sword," Says the Lord GOD.

Hos 5:5 And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them.

1Tim 3:6,7 a ruling elder must...Not (be) a novice (one newly planted), lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

*The condemnation of the devil ... are the iniquitous thoughts, imaginations and strategic actions of the devil that result from the knowledge and fact that God has, through a divine decree, condemned Satan already to a sentence of eternal torment that can not be avoided or negotiated. Because of this, Satan is angry and a murderer, and as a roaring lion seeks out who he can devour, lie to, blind the minds of those who do not believe and beguile through the knowledge and doctrine of his own inquity that is framed and set against the grace and knowledge of God through Jesus Christ.

Example of pride and temptation:

Genesis 3
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

An intersting thing about pride: it can manifest as insecurity, as well as false humility! Pride says that "what God says about me is not true." It breeds a false self image. God wants truth and honesty on the inward man. On the other side of this, when a person knows who he or she is in God, this will be interpreted as arrogance and pride by those that suffer from pride or insecurity, but it is in actual fact true humility - believing what God says about me.

Pride is not giving God the glory in all things. It "robs" him of the glory you could have given Him (not that He needs it, though, but desires it from His children)
