I was having a discussion with my husband about the book of Genesis the other day and this question popped into my head out of nowhere: Was the wheel invented during Adam and Eve's time in the Garden of Eden or after they were expelled?:confused: My husband believes the wheel was not necessary since God provided everything for them to use and they did not have to struggle to work the land. My argument was why wouldn't God provide them with the wheel...the Garden of Eden seemed like a rather large place and they had to move their fruits and vegetables different places, so I thought.

We were trying to find biblical evidence to support either of our claims, but we came up empty. Do any of you have evidence to support either one of our theories, by chance? The Bible seems to silent on the invention of the wheel, but not on the invention of bronze tools, musical instruments, etc., (Genesis 4:21 & 22) which were created after Eden.

I look forward to your kind replies.:D

Well i guess altough it doesnt say, there was no need for adam and eve to travel anywhere they were just in the garden...So logivally i would say after,
i guess the main mode of travel was horse or doonkey, it was only later in the NT and roman times that transport such as chariots were built, i beleive the Etheoppian enoch in the NT travelled by coach whih although doesnt say must have had wheels.. Not sure my reply is of any help

Don't quote me on this but I believe the first wheel was invented by a woman. Sadly, it was square in shape and didn't work all that good. Shortly thereafter, a man came along and made the suggestion to make it circular in shape. And ever since that time, women have depended on us guys to get them out of their jams :)

I Bible does talk about wheels.
In Exodus 14:25 The Egyptians had chariot wheels!
In 1Kings 7:30 there were wheels as part of the Temple.
In Ezekiel 1:16 there is a vision that talks about wheels.

LOL :) its just great :)

I'm not sure if it is referring to what we consider wheels but the word will shows up 27 times when I a BibleGateway.com: A searchable online Bible in over 100 versions and 50 languages. search :)

I found this reference interesting:

Daniel 7:8-10
New King James Version (NKJV)
8 I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words.

Vision of the Ancient of Days

9 “ I watched till thrones were put in place,
And the Ancient of Days was seated;
His garment was white as snow,
And the hair of His head was like pure wool.
His throne was a fiery flame,
Its wheels a burning fire;

10 A fiery stream issued
And came forth from before Him.
A thousand thousands ministered to Him;
Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him.
The court[a] was seated,
And the books were opened

so do you think there are wheels on God's throne?
