Its been said on here that if you have absolute knowledge of Christ as Lord and savior then you should be able to discern all of the other things in the Bible to know absolute Biblical truth (or more accurately decide that the poster is "right") Does this mean that those of lower intelligence to the accuser do not secure their place in Heaven with our Lord and saviour based on their childlike faith... are they accountable to knowledge beyond their mental capability? We are all wired differently. What about deception? If we, after receiving Jesus as our Lord and risen saviour, with an honest and open heart seek the Lord and his truth to the best of our individual abilities shouldnt that be enough? WHAT if someone else with an open heart seeking God tells us a lie in scripture because they've misread the Bible or had the wrong translation and in our humanity we wrongfully believe it. I honestly think that each person is wired differently and has a heart for different matters with respect to our walk with the Lord. Personally my heart is heavy for EVERY SINGLE lost soul in my life. I want to seek the truth but am not absolutely sure that what I believe is totally correct. Soooo... if we read, pray for the Lord to give discernment through the Holy Spirit dont we in receiving the blood of the Lamb secure our place in Heaven? Or are those of lower intelligence because they lack certain biblical deciphering skills sent to hell and only the smart ones who can adequately debate Christ going to Heaven. I am blessed to be able to articulate my thoughts, I however lack concentration to take multiple passages and properly compare them in a way that make sence. So I read the word and pray for understanding as I receive the word. I also have trouble with my memory so I'm unable to recall scripture in alot of cases unless i have time to go through my Bible to find where its bookmarked. My bible is full of bookmarks. Anyway I just thought i'd throw this out there to see what people have to say. Does it seem that in these forums we are held to a VERY VERY high standard that may have some afraid to post because of the righteous rebuke that inevitably follows. I've considered only posting in the fun / family forums and perhaps I should go with this, because very often I leave here feeling extream sadness and feeling like i've absolutely failed the Lord and I didnt come here to get discouraged in my faith... on the contrary.

Imoss....your not alone in your thoughts, as I too have wondered this same thing after seeing how some are received here thru these posts. While I try very hard to give every ones opinion and how they come to have that opinion open consideration on these subjects, I firmly believe you must rely on Gods word, and as you said pray for discernment, and for him to give you knowledge and understanding , study and show thyself approved so to speak. Ill indeed pray for you, and let me say I enjoy and have been blessed by what you bring to chat, dont get discouraged, your blessed, and obviously if Gods blessings you, your doin something right.

I just got off of another thread in tears. I've come to the conclusion that because my opinion is only my opinion and i'm just not as smart as the big fella's, i should no longer post in here if I dont have ABSOLUTE knowledge. (Which means not at all) It is just upsetting and i'm not feeling the Christian fellowship that i was seeking when i came on here. My mission was to find friends in Christ to fellowship with and learn from. I have been wacked on the head with scripture that has caused me to question my beliefs but not in a good way. I've gone from being someone who is absolutely sure of the love of my Lord and saviour and the fact that he paid the price for little old me... to someone who feels grossly inadequate, troubled and maybe even condemned by my lack of understanding. Perhaps its just a bad day, I sure hope this doesnt last. I feel like i've been spiritually attacked in here and thats weird cause i've only ever felt that once before and that was in chatting with a professed satanist trying to bring her to the Lord. (couple years ago) Anyway I think i'm going to take a forum break. Thanks for your care & concern ladies.

imoss, I will sat this (not that I am saying you are of lesser intelligence) people who know more are the most accountable not the other way around. For instance if I or someone else come to a revelation in the word that you or someone else has not. It would be the responsibility of the one who has the revelation to keep God's word according to that knowledge. However the one who has not receive the revelation is not responsible to keep the word according to knowledge they have yet to receive. So in others it is better not to know than to know a not obey.
Luke 12
47 And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

You see those that know more are giving more responsability to obey more perfectly.

Awww Imoss.........I know where ya comin' from......that's why I spend most of my time in the game section......not too many can pick on ya for posting there ;)........I do find some posters take it all very seriously and seem to think it's their mission in life to convert Christian and non- Christian to their way of thinking.......

Ya know what?......last time I knew.....it was Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith......the closer I walk with Him, the easier I understand His will, the less bothered I am by others who feel the need to shape me into their image......

I've learned the most from posters who don't feel the need to bash me senseless with their arguments, but simply state their case, and leave me to think about the subject from a slightly different angle ......... I truly respect those kind of people, who are secure in their walk with Jesus and simply live it.......sharing humbly with others from their own experiences......I listen to people like that......

Peace be to you
Try fasting its very hard and giving to the poor.One time i gave all my stuff away and came home and opened the bible and the verse infront of me was;
And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
I started laughing and said ,you know God that actually felt good.
I like honist people. He does to.

Love a friend in God

you know, its funny you mention that cause I never have done a fast. The poor are in my heart and in my wallet but I could definitely do better in this regard as well. I'll let you know how the fast goes. My uncle does this weekly and has received spiritual blessing because of it. I've tried a fast and failed, but my heart was wrong, i was probably thinking too much about how my stomach would shrink and i'd lose some of my winter weight as a result. This time I'll make it just be about the Lord. Thank you.

*lol* @ Imoss. I actually think it's easier for them. Scripture says "to whom much is given, much is required" and "unless you become like a child, you may not enter in". Sometimes I think intelligence (when mixed with pride) can often times get in the way. Scientists being a good example.

Well shoot after reading all the post I can see you all have already touched up on both quotes. I do believe that Watchman has made a very good point.

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. - Galatians 5:6

Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you. -Matthew 7:7

When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God... I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words... - 1 Corinthians 2:1-5

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. Psalm 51:17

These were some verses that came to mind after reading this thread. I truly believe that God is much wiser and much more sympathetic than we may think He is, and I believe this because of what we see in Christ. Christ was not impressed by intellect, but rather he was impressed by actions and attitudes. We see him having a polite discussion with an intelligent seeker, Nicodemus, in John 3, because the man's heart seemed to be in the right place. Whenever the Pharisees would try to put him in traps on doctrinal or political issues, we see Jesus become incensed at them, scolding them, and sometimes only answering their question with another question. A woman who falls down weeping, begging for forgiveness, is likely to receive a kind word from Jesus. It is obvious that he wants the right attitude and the right actions more than he does eloquence or a great intellect.

That reminds me of this quote from Emerson: "Character is higher than intellect... A great soul will be strong to live, as well as to think." It's character that counts. Intellect is a wonderful thing, but it can be misused: the sure sign of a misused intellect is arrogance. Wise people are smart enough to know just how little they really do know. I'm finishing up my master's degree right now, and when I began the program I thought I knew a lot about my area of expertise, but graduate school has showed me just how much there is out there that I don't know. It is a humbling experience.

I like Watchmen's post from Luke 12: "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." Those who claim to have knowledge, claim to be right, claim to be teachers of the truth, are going to be held accountable for their teaching. They need humility more than anyone, because "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble". (Prov. 3:34, James 4:6)

i love that quote missy, u r so right ,Jesus IS the author and finisher of our faith imoss and He wants us made into His image NOT those who choose to convert others into clones of themselves. Imoss i too have felt as you do .Dont be discouraged , remember its an attack from the enemy .Keep your eyes on Him , not the storm and i promise you WILL get to 'the other side 'safely my friend . :)

First things first....the baby has by no means been crying this stinking long!!! I just had my own stuff in my world keep me from getting back here til now.

I just want to say, imoss, that I have read many of your posts in the forums, and by no way of any imaginatings, do I find you ....of "lower intelligence".... and furthermore the ones who are wont to say that ANYONE can know absolute Biblical truth (in the way it was stated to you) should go read the Bible a bit more!!! I am like you, in that I don't quote scripture easily......and can't always make sense of everything I do read.....I don't feel I am of "lower intelligence" either, we just all have what we are good at, and what we are not good at. But we can all believe, right?? and have faith??....that's what it takes to enter the kingdom..belief in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What about the babies that are never born?? or the ones who live short (earthly) lives?? because they never reach a maturity in human lifespan, and therefore cannot understand the Bible, they are banned from heaven?? NO WAY!!! They are visited by the Holy Ghost...and He knows their heart......This is what I truly believe. I think if we are wrong on an issue that the Lord wishes us to learn, He will show us a way to learn it. Give us an opportunity to learn it. But I also believe that no one person (or persons) know EVERYTHING.......full understanding is the Lord's only. I do pray for you to feel better about things, and hope that your break from the forums doesn't last too long. I enjoy your posts and agree with you much of the time. I would also like to say that while I have not been "whacked on the head with scripture" in here, I HAVE felt afraid to post because of the "righteous" rebuke that most certainly inevitably would follow. God Bless your fast, if that is what you feel to do, and your break, but I pray we see you in back here soon!!!

To me, God is not unjust to send people who are not mentally capable of understanding right and
wrong to hell.

God only holds those who able to make a mature decision about salvation, and know the diffrence
between right and wrong accountable.

Hi Imoss,

I think your comment on spiritual attack is interesting and insightful though. These sites are hardly places of scriptural orthodoxy, and often are places of subtle attack. I'll pray for strength for you in this time of spiritual testing.
