When reading in the Books of the Kings, we followed David into battles and saw him delivered from the hands of his enemies. We saw him like our own king, and we said surely, this is a man after God's own heart.

But there is one person that really took to my heart, and that is Jonathan. The anointing was on David, and Jonathan could see it. Even though he loved his dad, he could see that his dad was without the help of the Spirit. And so Jonathan followed the anointing and saw to it that his friend David escaped the wrath of his dad. This issue hit me deeply and still does.

Jonathan was in between two things, his love of his dad, and the love of God. He knew that what his dad did and was doing was wrong, yet he loved him, and was gentle with him, meanwhile he also knew that the Spirit had left his dad, and his dad was growing colder and colder. Even bitter against him. God sent an evil spirit to afflict Saul because of his disobedience, and that evil spirit lead him to his own death. He had a command by the prophet, who spoke of God to do something, and he deliberately disobeyed.

It was written that the souls of David and Jonathan were knit together. If anything I would hope so. The armies of Israel would go into battle with Saul, though not all, and they would be slain. Jonathan would also go out to be slain by his enemies, because he loved his dad so much.

If anyone, Jonathan really had some tough choices to make. I know the Lord had to be with him. I still wonder about it. And the beautiful end, HOW ARE THE MIGHTY FALLEN?

I will post it here:

17 ¶And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:
18 (Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.) *

19 The beauty of Israel is slain upon thy high places: how are the mighty fallen!
20 Tell it not in Gath, publish it not in the streets of Askelon; lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
21 Ye mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew, neither let there be rain, upon you, nor fields of offerings: for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, as though he had not been anointed with oil.

22 From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul returned not empty.
23 Saul and Jonathan were lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions. *
24 Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with other delights, who put on ornaments of gold upon your apparel.
25 How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, thou wast slain in thine high places.
26 I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.
27 How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!
2 Samuel 1

This is heavy.

May Jesus bless you.

so what does it mean to be soul tied?

1 Samuel 18

1 Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 2 Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father’s house anymore. 3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.
