That would be the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. (RLDS Church). My wife grew up in that church and it's a cult. They go by the name "Community of Christ" now and even built a temple in Independence Missouri.

I'm not a bad guy. I'm just misunderstood.

Galatians 6:14 - But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

It could also be a severe sect of international CoC (I knew as Boston COC) which i had dealings with when i lived in Boston, who broke from the CoC and made everyone get re-baptised, or thier salvation would be nullified, They were a huge cult. One of th most evil cults I have ever dealt with, they almost convinced my Wife to convert. It was one of the most saddest times of my life (not because of my wife, but some friends of hers who got entangles and fell into the trap. They would actually go after people and physically harm people who left.

With all due respect make sure you have your facts correct about certain beliefs before you start to condemn them.
They do teach that you are not saved UNTIL you are water baptized. I at one time had attended a church of Christ several years ago when I was a teenager. They had a 5 step plan of salvation that went like this: 1. Hear 2. Believe 3. Repent 4. Confess 5. Be baptized then you are finally saved "after" baptism.

The reason why the CoC does not use instruments is because no where in the NT are we commanded to use them during worship.Yes, it mentions instruments, but there is no command and therefore the CoC refrains from this practice.
Musical instruments, if used with care, can enhance the singing of praise to the Lord.

That was seen by the Christian church that split from the church of Christ. Musical instruments were obviously considered a help to praise in the Old Testament. It seems strange to say that something God thought was a blessing in the Old Testament and is now an evil in the New Testament church.

Ephesians 5:19 says "..speaking to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.." and correspondingly Colossians 3:16 says to, "..admonish one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs." The word "psalm" in the Greek dictionary, definition (#5568): "A set piece of music, i.e. a sacred ode (accompanied with the voice, harp, or other instrument)."

The root word of psalm is "psallo" which means to means "to twitch, twang or pluck," such as pluck a string of a musical instrument.

If the church of Christ (or any other church) wants to leave out musical instruments in their worship, that is their prerogative. But I don't believe that it's right for anyone to judge and condemn others who choose to use musical instruments like David did and as the apostle Paul instructed.

I can’t wait to get to heaven and hear the music of the angels. And hear the harps and I am sure many other musical instruments being played.

Thank you... I will look for that book.

I'm sure there were people who used the name "church of Christ" in different times. In fact, I believe that is one of the reasons that the Stone/Campbell folks used it. I think it was taken from the scripture that says "the churches of Christ salute you" from Romans 16. It was considered to be a much more accurate name for the church than "Baptist" or "Presbyterian"...

I was (as I'm sure you know) simply trying to give a brief synopsis of the beginnings of the Church of Christ as it is widely known today. It will be interesting to read about those earlier groups... they may very well be the origins of the Stone/Campbell movement.

There are other groups that use a similar name, but are not in the same category.... much like the Westboro Baptists use the name "Baptist", but are not anything like the mainstream Baptist church.
