Which scriptures are best to share with non Christians? I know the bible is full of great scripture, but which ones are ideal to pull out and share with someone who doesn't know God?

Matthew 5:3-10

"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Since God is "no respecter of persons", the Scriptures for non-Christians are the same as Scriptures for Christians. Christians are saved by believing in God and repenting and fulfilling God's words through the Church. Non-Christians are called to believe and so be saved. Christians believe. Non-Christians don't believe. That is the difference regarding the Scriptures. The Christians live by the Scriptures. Non Christians don't. Every Christian struggles against his/her sins and in every soul there is a war spiritual warfare between trusting God and having faith which works through love, and unbelief. Every Christian knows he has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, because the Bible reveals all men have sinned. A Christian can pray, "Lord, I believe [in You]; help Thou mine unbelief."

Scott - You completely misunderstand what I'm saying here and I think you are lost with the message completely, as nothing you've said is relevant to this topic. Or maybe I didn't word it correctly?

If a non Christian person is going through a difficult time in their life and they are given a scripture that is of real comfort to them and their situation (and yes - I know someone who broke down when given a scripture that did just that) then it can lead to them reading more of the bible, to see what else is in there. So - certain (special) scriptures can draw in a person that has never read the bible before. An individual who keeps reading more of the bible will get closer and closer to God and in turn will likely give their life to Christ.

This is what I mean by special scriptures - scriptures which can be of comfort to non Christians in a time when they are vulnerable and need help.

There are many people who have been saved after reading a specific scripture, who as a result asked Christ into their life.

The scriptures of the bible should be read, yes. It is true that Christians read the bible, yes. It is true that those who do not know Christ don't.

I'm not sure how you got so confused with what I was saying? I am not saying that Christians are the same as non Christians?!!

-------------------------------------

God wants others to have faith in him and his word, enough to not rely on any safety nets. One way to prove your faith is through reading the bible and trusting in the scriptures of God above anything else. When someone puts their trust in a man and what that man has introduced into their church building then that is not having sole faith in God - you are trying to trust God (spirit) but you still trust man (flesh) because you are doing what man has told you to do, not what God has told you to do. If you read the bible and had faith in God, then God would reveal the truth to you. I trust that God will catch me if I fall. Catholics do not believe that God will catch them if they fall, because they have to do all these things in their church building in order to gain their way into heaven. So, the Catholics have created a safety net for themselves. Get rid of your safety nets! Let God be the only one to catch you. While you still have your safety nets, you are telling God that you don't trust him. Sorry, but this is what you're doing.

I challenge you - take 3 weeks off from your Catholic Church. READ your bible and do not do the things that your priest has told you to do in your church building. READ the bible and pray for God to reveal the truth to you. HE WILL. If you put your faith in him to reveal the truth to you, he will do it. He is a powerful God. Just do it. Do not pt your trust in man's safety nets. Put your trust in God.

you don't share John 3: 16 until they first are convicted of their sin. it is useless and is actually very harmful to tell people they are saved when they are not repentant of anything. they think they can have their cake and eat it too.

to distill the gospel message into just on phrase to promise the forgiveness of sins and salvation for people who do not even think they are sinners is a grave injustice and sows seeds of death and not life.

first you have to talk to the person and see what they believe.

do they think they are sinners? have they been AWAKEN to the reality that this world has nothing to offer? Have they felt the Conviction of their sinful nature and their inability to meet God's standard by themselves? are they aware they need a savior?

if the answer is NO then John 3: 16 will be but foolishness to them and they will now have a vaccine to the attempts of many who try and tell them God's truth. some will have a dead faith were they mouth the words of salvation but their hearts are far from God because of this speed racing, magic formula easy beliefism people preach.

Salvation is something GOD does and involves more then just saying a few words. It involves repentance of the heart and a COMPLETE turning away from ALL sin, which happens after God reveals the sins of that person to that person. then they are ready for the Words of God, the Gospel Seed to be planted in their hearts and watered with His Holy spirit and love so that it might grow by abiding in Christ into righteous fruit through diligence adding to faith, virtue, knowledge, brotherly kindness, self control, and love.

I was listening to a sermon by Paris Reidheed and the verses he recommends to an unawaken/ unsaved/ unrepentant/ unsorrowful person to show them their need for salvation are:

Isaiah 47:11
New King James Version (NKJV)
11 Therefore evil shall come upon you;
You shall not know from where it arises.
And trouble shall fall upon you;
You will not be able to put it off.
And desolation shall come upon you suddenly,
Which you shall not know.

Jeremiah 23: 12
12 “ Therefore their way shall be to them
Like slippery ways;
In the darkness they shall be driven on
And fall in them;
For I will bring disaster on them,
The year of their punishment,” says the LORD.

Psalm 73:18
New King James Version (NKJV)
18 Surely You set them in slippery places;
You cast them down to destruction.

there is different sets of scriptures that can be used for a convicted spirit and a repentant spirit and a faithful newly born Christian...

Telling people that God loves them is not harmful. Who in the world told you that my sister. Going up and telling people they are bad sinners and need to repent is bad. They need to know God loves them.

When John came he was talking to people who new the word of God.

context, it depends on who you talking to. if the person says "i'm happy now and don't want to submit to God and all His rules, look I can do whatever I want it doesn't really matter"

if you tell that person God loves them and is not mad at them and their sinful ways, then you would be lying.

James 4:3-5
New King James Version (NKJV)
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 Adulterers and[a] adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?

Jeremiah 14:13-15
New King James Version (NKJV)
13 Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, the prophets say to them, ‘You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you assured peace in this place.’”
14 And the LORD said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart. 15 Therefore thus says the LORD concerning the prophets who prophesy in My name, whom I did not send, and who say, ‘Sword and famine shall not be in this land’—‘By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed!

if you are talking to someone who has been convicted by the Holy Spirit you lead them into understand the rest of God's salvation plan of repentance, the need to turn from ALL sin and cruxify their flesh and will into obedience to Christ and Confession of Jesus as Lord and savior not just with their mouths but with their hearts. there are scriptures for each phase. I just gave the first step.

you go up and tell someone who is not convicted of their sins by the Holy Spirit, that God loves them all you will get is a laugh and the question "if He loves me so much, tell him to give me this_____" or "prove it" or something else just as defiant.

I understand what Ananda is saying. If a person is told that God loves them before the sin is dealt with, the person might go around thinking that God loves them in their sin.

God does love us in spite of our sin, but he does not want to keep us in sin, but to bring us out of sin to serve him.

I think it would be more harmful to the person if they were told God loves you, without addressing the sin first. If we see that we have transgressed against him, we would beg for mercy and then for that we are given grace. So now, grace is put into the right perspective. Grace is not permission to continue in sin.

God deals with sin first. And then grace makes sense. So it would be more edifying that sin is addressed, so that that GLORIOUS LIGHT OF THE GOSPEL can be SEEN AND READ, both in Christ and in us.

May Jesus bless you both

Oh this came to me:

''Where sin abounded, Grace did much more abound. ''

Oh and this:

That ''sin became exceedingly sinful.''

Look those up in the scriptures.

May Jesus bless you.

the story of Zacheus is the story of Israel out of egypt...first God meets them and cares for them lest they fall away in fear; then he works them in the desert until they are convinced of their guilt.

Jesus met Zacheus for dinner and Zacheus because of Jesus' honour and kindness came first to the table then to repentance.

Jesus did not demand Zacheus' repentance; Zacheus repented because he was convinced of the kindness and holiness of Jesus.

Jesus met Zacheus for dinner and Zacheus because of Jesus' honour and kindness came first to the table then to repentance.

Jesus did not demand Zacheus' repentance; Zacheus repented because he was convinced of the kindness and holiness of Jesus.
The Holy Spirit convinced Zacheus of his need for repentance. It was written that the goodness of God leads us to repentance. You are right.

But Jesus knew that zacheus needed repentance. In the same way, the Holy Spirit works with the word to bring repentance. Without repentance you can't go on in grace.

Not to say that we can determine or force someone to repent. But the Lord works in the hearts. Jesus was shining light as a true keeper of the law. Jesus kept the law perfectly which he lets us know is best demonstrated in loving God with all heart and mind and soul, and neighbor as self. So Jesus was fulfilling the law in love, and not in judgement and condemnation

As he said, I COME NOT TO CONDEMN THE WORLD!! He came to save!!

The law teaches kindness and honor and holiness. And all in that it teaches grace. But the commands of the law cannot make one perfect.

Like if I said, don't hate. Now, how has that changed you any? Just because I said it? In fact, the way people work, when they here a command against something, they are more prone to do it. But if I demonstrated, ''don't hate.'' Then you would clearly see it as it is a witness of the Truth of what hate can cause, and more of how love can overcome it.

It is very true when Jesus said. IF I BE LIFTED UP FROM THE EARTH, I WILL DRAW ALL MEN UNTO ME!!

WOW!!

May Jesus bless you.

Which scriptures are best to share with non Christians? I know the bible is full of great scripture, but which ones are ideal to pull out and share with someone who doesn't know God?
RE: John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid"

Thanks for reminding me of this scripture. It is perfect for a reply to a nonbeliever who was asking for prayer because her son-in-law's father just passed away. God is so good!

I find this uncomfortable. Preying on the weak. Thats what this sounds like to me.

If someone is going to find god. Let them do it with a sound mind and heart, not when they are at their most vulnerable.

It's exploitation

Katy, this might come as a surprise, but it isn't simply what Scriptures you use. It's about you, the believer, and the Holy Spirit that lives inside of you.

Mark 16:15-20 [SUP]15 [/SUP]And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. [SUP]16 [/SUP]He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. [SUP]17 [/SUP]And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [SUP]18 [/SUP]They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. [SUP]19 [/SUP]So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. [SUP]20 [/SUP]And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

These "signs following" may or may not be the use of spiritual gifts. I believe the signs following the true believer is the fruit of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23 [SUP]22 [/SUP]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [SUP]23 [/SUP]Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

John 6:44 [SUP]44 [/SUP]No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

People are convicted (convinced) of their sins by the Holy Spirit. He does the work, we simply offer the vessel to be used.

I could not begin to tell you in the beginning of my ministry how many times I blundered all over the word trying to preach it correctly, yet people would still come to the altar and give their lives to Christ. It wasn't me; it wasn't my words; it was the Holy Spirit that made it possible. God's anointing breaks the yoke.:)

Really? Do you know how that person got into that humiliated, vulnerable spot in the first place? God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Sometimes He has to put us in a humiliating circumstance so that He can get our attention. Since you're not God, then you don't know why it happened. So be careful. What you wrote could be looked at as a judgment call.
