I have many people came to me and said that "baptism is necessary for salvation". I asked them about the thief on the cross. They said that the thief died under Old Testament law and was saved before New Convent came into effect Col 2:14; Heb 9:16-17. They would gave me scriptures like for example:

He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. - Mark 16:16 NKJV

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. - Acts 2:38 NKJV

And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’ - Acts 22:16 NKJV

Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. - Romans 6:3-4NKJV

There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ - 1 Peter 3:21NKLV

Also, they will said that the Sinner Prayer is not found in the bible so it not biblical. You will not found anyone in the book of Acts does not ask Jesus to heart or says that I believe in Jesus who died for my sins. Etc

So what do you think?

Yes and no, I believe every believer should be baptized, and if you refuse baptism you are in rebellion and most likely not born again, but being baptized does not saved you. A baby who was baptized as an infant will still has to be born again by committing their life to the Lord when they are old enough to make such a decision. A child that was baptized at 12 because of religious duty, who has never made a commitment to following Christ is not a Christian. A man or woman that is baptized in a process of converting to their soon to be spouse's religion without a honest heart of repentance will not be forgiven of their sins. You can go down a dry sinner, and come up a wet one.

Baseless statement. Your opinion only, and false.

Water baptism is not necessary. It went out on the day of pentecost.

Acts 1:5) For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Act on Romans 10:9, and you will be saved, which is synonymous with "baptized in holy spirit".

There is certainly no harm in being water baptized, and if it makes you feel better, go for it. But it is not necessary for salvation.

So what do you think?

  1. Matthew 3:2
And saying, Repent ( think differently; change your mind, regretting your sins and changing your conduct), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Matthew 3:1-3 (in Context) Matthew 3 (Whole Chapter)

  1. Matthew 3:8
    Bring forth fruit that is consistent with repentance [let your lives prove your change of heart];
Matthew 3:7-9 (in Context) Matthew 3 (Whole Chapter)
  2. Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you in (with) water because of repentance [that is, because of your changing your minds for the better, heartily amending your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins]. But He Who is coming after me is mightier than I, Whose sandals I am not worthy or fit to take off or carry; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
Matthew 3:10-12 (in Context) Matthew 3 (Whole Chapter)
  3. Matthew 4:17
From that time Jesus began to preach, crying out, Repent ( change your mind for the better, heartily amend your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Matthew 4:16-18 (in Context) Matthew 4 (Whole Chapter)
  4. Matthew 9:13
Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy [that is, readiness to help those in trouble] and not sacrifice and sacrificial victims. For I came not to call and invite [to repentance] the righteous (those who are upright and in right standing with God), but sinners (the erring ones and all those not free from sin).
Matthew 9:12-14 (in Context) Matthew 9 (Whole Chapter)
  5. Matthew 11:20
Then He began to censure and reproach the cities in which most of His mighty works had been performed, because they did not repent [and their hearts were not changed].
Matthew 11:19-21 (in Context) Matthew 11 (Whole Chapter)

People can call it what ever.....sinners prayer sounds good to me, and there are lots of them in the bible. Anyone who makes a big issue out people turning to God, calling God into their hearts has a very big problem.

It went out on the day of pentecost?

Acts 8: 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture he preached Jesus to him. 36 As they went along the road they came to some water ; and the eunuch said, "Look ! Water ! What prevents me from being baptized ?" 37 [And Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."] 38 And he ordered the chariot to stop ; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away ; and the eunuch no longer saw him, but went on his way rejoicing.

People sometimes did it, yes. Was it necessary? No.

Remember, prior to pentecost, water baptism was required, and anyone wanting to be saved needed it. Old habits die hard. Look what God had to do for Peter to convince him that salvation was available to gentiles. Peter and those with him were flabbergasted that gentiles could receive salvation. And then later Peter had to be reprimanded for hanging out only with Jews, and promoting the law. Again, old habits die hard.

Acts 1:For John truly baptized [past tense] with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost..

Either baptism was required after Pentecost or Peter was a liar, and all the apostles heretics.

Acts 10:44 "While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word."
Acts 10:46 "For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have recieved the Holy Ghost as well as we?"

In Acts chapter 10 people were saved before baptism and filled with the Holy Ghost as they heard Peter preach the Gospel. They believed what Peter was preaching and were saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they were baptized. I believe it is a good example of salvation before baptism and the need for baptism after salvation.

Greetings,

I would say no. Baptism isn't necessary for Salvation because baptism doesn't preclude salvation. Salvation must be present prior to baptism (by immersion). To believe is to be one who is a possessor of saving grace, which is the effect of a regenerating work of God. If you notice in Scripture, baptism (by immersion) follows repentance and belief which was a hallmark of regeneration. Now, I would (and do) argue for the importance of believers being baptized by immersion, but I would not say that it's necessary for salvation.

The third (correct) possibility is that you are wrong, and water baptism is no longer necessary.

We are saved by grace through faith, acting on Romans 10:9. Not by water baptism.

The gospel is the power of God unto salvation:

Romans 1:16 *¶For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Paul makes a separation between the gospel and water baptism:

1 Corinthians 1:17 *¶For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 *For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

The gospel:

1 Corinthians 15:1 *¶Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 *By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 *For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 *And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Obeying the gospel:
Romans 10:9 *That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 *For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 *For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 *¶For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 *For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

We should get baptized AFTER salvation:
Acts 8:36 *And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 *And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 *And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

The eunuch was already saved when he confessed that Jesus Christ is the Son of God:

1 John 4:15 *Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

The end.

Never said baptism saves you. Neither does staying abstinent, but if you refuse to be baptized you are in rebellion, just as if you were to remain in an sexual relationship outside of marriage. Once again baptism does not save, but it is a commandment and all believers have to follow the commands of Christ or else they are in rebellion

You're kidding, right? Old habits? We are talking about Philip and a eunuch who knew nothing about the Jewish or Christian religion before he began studying.

Acts 8: 4 Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. 5 Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Christ there. 6 When the crowds heard Philip and saw the miraculous signs he did, they all paid close attention to what he said. 7 With shrieks, evil spirits came out of many, and many paralytics and cripples were healed. 8 So there was great joy in that city.

9 Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, 10 and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed, "This man is the divine power known as the Great Power." 11 They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time with his magic. 12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Simon himself believed and was baptized. And he followed Philip everywhere, astonished by the great signs and miracles he saw.

Is the same Philip who you claim had problems with old habits? The same Philip who was appointed by the apostles to help in the work of Christ?

The eunuch wanted to be baptized in water. Philip did not command him to be baptized in water. Philip said that if he believed, to go for it.

Yes, Philip was teaching the gospel, people wanted to hear.

They were baptized. It doesn't say water, does it?

Acts 1:5) For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost

Is the same Philip who you claim had problems with old habits? The same Philip who was appointed by the apostles to help in the work of Christ?
Yep, same guy.
