Philippians 3
Righteousness Through Faith in Christ

1Finally, my brothers,a rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is no trouble to me and is safe for you.

2Look out for the dogs, look out for the evildoers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. 3For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of Godb and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh— 4though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; 6as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to righteousness under the law,c blameless. 7But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.

THE IMPUTED RIGHTEOUSNESS OF CHRIST TO OUR ACCOUNT MEANS NOT GUILTY - JUSTIFIED. PERFECTLY RIGHTEOUS BY DECREE, since it is by FAITH

2 Corinthians 5:21
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Romans 1:17
For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

Romans 3:22
This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,

Romans 9:30
What then shall we say? That the Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have obtained it, a righteousness that is by faith;

2 Corinthians 3:9
If the ministry that condemns men is glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!

Galatians 2:16
know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.

Galatians 3:11
Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith."

Psalm 143:2
Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous before you.

Romans 3:10
as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;

Romans 3:11
there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.

1 John 1:8
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Psalm 32:5
Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"--and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah

Psalm 103:12
As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Hebrews 8:12
For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

Hebrews 10:17
Then he adds: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more."

Romans 11:27
And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins."

Daniel 9
24Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 25Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Romans 4:4-8
King James Version (KJV)
4Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Amen as well Abiding :) How could this truth wrapped in such beautiful grace not bring one to strive to please God in their works ? These verses are an awesome display not only of God's magnificent grace to us ....... but also demonstrates His infinite wisdom as well. I believe that this is where some are remiss in their understanding of God's perfect plan of salvation by grace thru faith in Christ. A heart that has opened the door to Christ in faith simply can't help but WANT to endeavour to act in manner pleasing to one as merciful and gracious as our loving Father. I'll share a short snippet of a real life experience that I learned of years ago ....... a beautiful story. It was a story told by the former comedian Buddy Hackett (us older folks remember him). His father ran a business years ago and one day a desperate man walked into the premise pulling a handgun and demanding money. Buddy's father looked this man in the eye while this pistol was pointed at his chest and said ...... Do you really want to rob me of my hard earned money or would you rather that I helped you by offering you a job ? The man looked intently at Buddy's father and started to weep ....... and shortly after asked ....... would you be willing to give me a job ? This story ended beautifully as Buddy went on to say that this man not only became Buddy's father's most trusted employee ...... but his closest and most trusted friend as well. Never forgot this story. I spose it's because it reminds me in a small way of what Christ has done for each of us :)

Ok so Cobus is here again, and is he going to agree? Well not at all.... The thing I try to get over is... NOTHING we do can be righteous, but the grace of God does not stop where God makes you NOT GUILTY. I agree 100% with you up to the NOT GUILTY, but God's GRACE AND LOVE DOES NOT STOP THERE! Fester touched on it...How can one that realize this LOVE of God stop at ...OK I AM NOW INNOCENT... And what can stop the greatful for God's sacrifice, to not ... WANT TO PLEASE GOD!!! .... This want to please is the next step of God's grace AFTER the realization that we will be (or as you believe are already) NOT GUILTY!.... Not a single person that God loved FIRST started to love GOD FIRST!... Not a single saved soul loved GOD first... God loved all the people that were, are and will be saved FIRST! God loves first and then they love GOD!

This LOVE for God is the drive to do what LEASES GOD... and this is why ALL God loved first start with this... PLEASE GOD WORKINGS! You cannot help it, becasue loving God is KEEPING HIS WORD/COMMANDS. It is not keeping the law, it is loving GOD! You do not keep the law becasue thw law says .... You keep the law becasue you love God. You keep it not with your head, but your love to God makes you stop doing some things and it also makes you do some OTHER things. And as you go on, you see that the things (sin) you used to like you now dislike (because of love not law) and the things you found weird in the past (righteousness) is the things you enjoy now. Not becasue the LAW says you should do it, becasue you love God and want to do it.

Man i wish I could explain better, but this is the best I can do.... This not doing sin is only becasue you do not enjoy it anymore, and we are built not to do what we dislike. and the things you used to find weird (righteousness) is now a pleasure to do. And we are also build like that, to want to do more what we enjoy!

Do you know how much you contribute to perfect righteousness.... NOTHING! NOT A SINGLE THING. Even your NEW LOVE is straight from God. Your new love is from God and it will return to God in obedient people! God says the ones that loves Him keeps His Word, but He gave them that love by LOVING them first. See the grace is even taking your heart back to God.

This is what I am trying to show you... Jesus did not stop working at the cross.... He returned to FILL US! And that pure faith (that the Holy Spirit brings) that eventually saves us, is the PERFECT righteousness of Jesus IN US!!! People please get this... When God said.... Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
This only means one thing.... The Holy Spirit is doing all the things with that flesh as He did with Jesus! There is only one way that any person can be and do righteousness as God, and that is when the Holy Spirit ABIDES IN THAT PERSON!

Soon I will post a peace that God would help me with, so that it is VERY clear how salvation is done. Just remember this... Jesus even does save people as FATHER wants Him to save them. It is Jesus' salvation, that is why it is so COMPLETE!

May the Lord help me to help you understand just how powerful HE SAVES!!! Amen!

Sorry Abiding that well not at all did not come out right, the direct translation is the problem, to say not at all in english means you do not agree with anything said, my apoligy, I wantsd to say, i do not agree with ALL that has ben said or written. I agree with most, but when you put it the way you do, that sounds like the incomplete work of God on a person HE DESTINED TO BE A VESSEL FOR HIS SPIRIT!

A vessel is a carrier... and the carrier is defined by the TREASURE that vessel has IN IT! Like Saul was a vessel used by the evil works of the Pharisee, but God destined PAUL to be a vessel used BY GOD'S HOLY SPIRIT (the new treasure) to bring the Gospel of Jesus to the Gentiles...

See the vessel was the same flesh, but opposite TREASURE INSIDE doing opposite WORKS.... God did not only forgave Paul all the sin He also gave Him His Spirit to preach AS GOD INTENDED FOR PAUL!

Sorry for the do not agree at all! Translation error on my part! You know I am not mean or spiteful, you know me better than to even suspect it. I am not an oppetunist for strife, but VERY keen on love and unity, IN TRUTH! Sorry Abiding, Zone and Fester, I did not mean I NEVER agree with you.

Love you all Cobus!
