So, are you arguing against all arguments? That's not self-consistent. Would it have been in keeping with the spirit of love not to argue against Hitler and the Nazis in Nazi Germany. Or is it, "I can love all people, without thinking about (right and wrong)"?
Such kind of love we don't need. Love is not compatible with pacifism, and lack of all argumentation. To love others, we must sometimes stand against the crow of people who bid us "don't think; don't argue". Of course we should love everyone, and I do. God bless you.
We cannot be filled with the peace and love of Christ without being filled with the words and truth of Christ.

But how is it loving to post blatant lies about what the other side teaches?

It's wrong to say something is a lie without giving evidence of its falsehood. Did or did not some of the popes of Rome claim to be divine? Have you heard about what happened at Vatican I?

I provided you with a link that talks specifically about those quotes. You ignored it and instead spread falsehoods about Pope Pius V and Leo XIII. I've also looked at what happened at Vatican I and Vatican II. Both were good councils that unfortunately were really misinterpreted by the lower levels of the magesterium and the laiety at times. But simply because a council's decisions were misinterpreted doesn't mean that the council itself is incorrect.

There are only seven ecumenical councils accepted by all Christians. And the Second Ecumenical Council teaches infallibly that the Spriit proceeds from the Father. Anyone who dares to teach, against, this council, that the Spirit proceeds also "from the Son", is anathema, according to the holy and inviolable council of 381 AD, which was endorsed by the pope of Rome. The later popes of Rome contradicted the earlier popes of Rome, and taught that the Spirit proceeds also from the Son. So, it depends of which pope of Rome you believe. The true popes of Rome are the popes of the undivided Catholic Church of the first 1054 years, before the Schism.

Tell that to the Oriental Orthodox.

John 15:26 shows the Lord Jesus telling His disciples that He will send them the Holy Spirit through the Father... So how is it heretical to add the statement "from the Son" if we have recorded in Scripture itself Our Lord telling His disciples that He will send the Holy Spirit as well?

There's but an exception to the rule. Most Christians accept all 7 councils.

John 15:26 shows the Lord Jesus telling His disciples that He will send them the Holy Spirit through the Father... So how is it heretical to add the statement "from the Son" if we have recorded in Scripture itself Our Lord telling His disciples that He will send the Holy Spirit as well?
Sending and proceeding mean different things. If you read in your Merriam-Webster dictionary, you will find that "to send" means to send, and "to proceed" means to proceed, and the two verbs don't mean the same thing! So your sentences are totally illogical. How is it heretical? The 8th ecumenical council says it is, and this council is ecumenical to the Orthodox Church (council of 879-880), and the Orthodox Church is the true Church. The false church is known by the Filiioque, and there is no excuse for Thomas Aquinas saying the Filioque is necessary for salvation, when all that is necessary for salvation in this matter is believing the words of the Lord, and the Lord clearly says "from the Father", and the Lord does not say "and the Son". It is a sin against Jesus Christ to put words into the holy Lord's mouth.
The pope claims the authority to change the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, because the pope claims to be Christ as the Vicar of Christ, another Christ, under the veil of flesh.

The Oriental Orthodox also accept the Second Council and also reject the Filioque. On this, they are orthodox, and papal Rome is heterodox.

Damning, judging, condemning, ridiculing, nit-picking, etc, etc. Where is the love? Where is Jesus? Where is the only thing that will make a non-believer come to Jesus? Love. Not "You are damned" or "You're going to hell if you don't believe", but "Jesus LOVES you."

JESUS LOVES US.

So please stop concentrating on these draining arguments on this Christian site, and come to love Jesus together.

It's getting old and it's doing nothing to convince those that are unsure about Christian love. And that's what it's all about.
AMEN!! THIS, MY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS, IS TRULY A PERSON THAT UNDERSTANDS GOD'S LOVE!!! GOD BLESS YOU DEARLY RODOGG.

It's false to call it "anti-Catholicism". If Catholicism says "only Catholics can be saved", isn't that, then, "anti- non-Catholicism"? Some of the things Catholicism teaches are what is ridiculous. The non-Catholics are not teaching such errors.
That's a fact. But we have all sinned, all of us human beings, that is true. God have mercy on all of us, both non Catholics and Catholics alike.
YOU SAID "the non-catholics are not teaching such errors!!" brother, just tell me something! have you read every doctrine from every church? including the catholic doctrine? the whole thing? i think not!! so then, in making these accusations and teaching these false "facts", you're turning turning so many christians against eachother and causing so much hatred without having REAL COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE of what you're talking about!! get off your high horse, come back down to the level God put us ALL on, and until you know EVERY DOCTRINE of everychurch, stop teaching and spreading rubbish falsely. You can't take one quote from someone in any particular church and base your whole analogy upon that one verse, because you have to remember that there are thousands of other teachings in that church that could change the context of that one quote DRAMATICALLY!! for example, one quote from Luther goes like this, " No sin will seperate us from the lamb even though we commit fornication and murder a thousand times a day." Now i know better than to take this quote and base Luther's whole idea on it, because i know there would've been alot that goes with it that would've changed the meaning completely. But for some reason, people never seem to think this way about the catholic church (because you're all so hung up on bringing the catholic church to her knees), when the catholic church has 2013 years of doctrines and teachings and tradition, not to mention guidance from the Holy Spirit, to go back to and cross reference with those single quotes that people have so disgustingly taken out of context. Wake up and stop sending people searching for Christ away from Him, like rodogg said, with this image of hatred towards eachother that we show them. For the Love of Christ! let us band together to battle the common enemy instead fighting eachother! God bless!

and as far as who is or isnt damned ..... thats a management decision, i'm labor. maybe once i'm really able to love and serve the weak and poor as he taught, ill start making those judgements but i doubt it. i think the internet evangelists and on line theologians would do well to take a few weeks off and work the serving line in the soup kitchen then stay to clean up. i cant focus on issues that will be very clear to me in a few years (i'll be 75 in august and the prostate cancer has metastasized.) the cross is a window into the very nature of god. god is love. if we accept that love we are saved but if we really understand that love we may find ourselves in strange places and sometimes with strange people even in our home towns. there was a time i thought the cliche wwjd tee shirts were amusing but i see now its a question we should be asking ourselves much more often, but we should be asking it when we see the weak and poor that surround us. most of them have heard the words of the gospel many times from a variety of people but maybe they would hear more clearly if they were first prepared by a christian showing the love of god by driving them somewhere when their car was broken down. i'll quote francis again .... "preach the gospel at all times, when necessary use words."

Scotth1960, you have made accusations of blasphemy and provided quotes, stating: "these quotes are not taken out of context". Below you will find the results of comprehensive research and analysis that shows they are taken completely out of context and spun to give meaning that does not appear in the original. I hope with this research, I've been able to provide you with an awareness that not everything you're told to read on the Internet is true. It is important to fact-check with solid research, especially when it comes to matters of theology and accusations of blasphemy. Just in case you were wondering, I am not Catholic, but rather an academic focusing on Christian Theology who knows how to conduct accurate research.

One of the quotes was: "The Pope and God are the same, so he has power in Heaven and earth." And you cited "Barclay, Chapter XXVII, page218, Cities Petrus Bertanous," as the source quoting Pope Pius V (1566-1572). This seems to be a case of 'hiding behind the curtain of obscurity' as we are merely given the author's surname of Barclay, with no reference to a book title.

A bit of determined research has cracked this mystery. The citation should read "Barclay, [book title missing], Chapter XXVII, p. 218, who cites Petrus Bertrandus." And what of Pius V? Well he is mentioned on page 219, not 218. The book by Barclay referred to is: "DE POTESTATE PAPAE: An & Quatenus in Reges & Principes Seculares Ius & Imperium Habiet" by Guil. Barclaii I. C., Liber posthumus. Reddite Caesari quae sunt Caesaris, & quae Dei Deo. Anno M. D.C. IX. [1609], Online at Bayerische StaatsBibliothek, Bavarian State Library < MDZ-Reader | Tome | De potestate papae / Barclay, William >. Another copy can be found online at Google books < http://books.google.com/books?id=ZM...a=X&ei=DahIUOaxKo2a8gS-yYDYDg&ved=0CC8Q6AEwAA >.

An English translation, "Of the avthoritie of the pope : whether and how farre forth, he hath power and authoritie ouer temporall kings and princes: liber posthumus" by Gvil. Barclaii J.C., was published at London, Imprinted by Arnold Hatfield, for VViliam Aspley, in 1611 < Gvil. Barclaii J.C. Of the avthoritie of the pope : whether and how farre forth, he hath power and authoritie ouer temporall kings and princes : liber posthumus. (Book, 1611) [WorldCat.org] >.

The author, William Barclay (1546-1608), was a Scottish Roman Catholic, a lawyer and a scholar, who strongly opposed papal claims to temporal authority over kings. The citation refers to Chapter XXVII [27], page 218. (Online at Bayerische StaatsBibliothek, Bavarian State Library < MDZ-Reader | Tome | De potestate papae / Barclay, William >) In the second paragraph, as evidence there is a quote in the gloss from French canonist Petrus Bertrandus (Peter Bertrand 1280-1349) for the last sentence of Unam Sanctam [published (1582) in "Corpus Juris Canonici, Extravagantes Communes, Book I, Title 8, chapter I., (De majoritate et obedientia)", which begins at column 202], Bull of Pope Boniface VIII promulgated November 18, 1302. A "gloss" is a commentary. The original text being commented on appears in the small box, while the annotated noted take up most of the rest of the page. (See column 212 at < Canon Law Collections | Pages >)

[Contrarium videtur.] Christus commissit summo Pontifici vices suas, (ut habetur Matth. 16. cap. et 24. q I. quodcumque.) Sed Christo data erat omnis potestas in caelo et in terra (Matth. 28.) ergo summus Pontifex qui est ejus vicarius habebit hanc potestatem. extra de translat. cap. quanto.

Christ entrusted his office to the chief Pontiff; (Mat 16:18, Mat 24:45) but all power in heaven and in earth had been given to Christ; (Mat. 28:18) therefore the chief Pontiff, who is his vicar, will have this power. [Extravagantes, Decretal. Greg. IX. de Transl. lib. i. tit. 7. c. 3. 'Quanto personam,' Pope Innocent III, written in 1582 < Canon Law Collections | Pages >]

The second quote was: "We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty." Pope Leo XIII (2 March 1810 - 20 July 1903), in his Apostolic Letter, "Praeclara Gratulationis Publicae (The Reunion of Christendom)". Fact-checking reveals this was a letter written by a Pope as his death drew closer. The full quote from the letter, which can be found at < Praeclara Gratulationis Publicae - Papal Encyclicals >, provides the context and reads as follows: "But since We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty, Who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the Truth, and now that Our advanced age and the bitterness of anxious cares urge Us on towards the end common to every mortal, We feel drawn to follow the example of Our Redeemer and Master, Jesus Christ, Who, when about to return to Heaven, implored of God, His Father, in earnest Prayer, that His Disciples and followers should be of one mind and of one heart: I pray ... that they all may be one, as Thou Father in Me, and I in Thee: that they also may be one in Us."

If the Pope claims to be God, and God has no master, why did the Pope write: "We feel drawn to follow the example of Our Redeemer and Master, Jesus Christ"? From the Catholic point of view, "We hold upon this Earth the place of God" makes perfect sense, as Catholics believe that the Pope is the Vicar (i.e. representative) of Christ. What does a representative do? He "holds the place" of the person he represents. Far from claiming that he is God in the flesh, Pope Leo was just reaffirming his position under Catholic teaching as Christ's representative on Earth under Catholic doctrine. If you say to the person you're with in a movie theatre, "I'll hold your seat for you until you get back," does this mean then that you become the person whose seat you are holding? Pope Leo's statement says only that God's seat here on Earth is being held until such time as He returns again.

Some interesting photos with scripture references...........

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
3, Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4, Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Revelations 20:11
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

Isaiah 37:16
O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwells between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.

Now look at these pics below.... who is sitting on the great white throne in Rev 20:11? Who is sitting between the two cherubims of Isa 37:16? Who is sitting in the temple of God showing himself that he is God in 2Thess 2:3-4?

Now from the earlier post just keeping everything together.....

Revelations 17:4
And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations

What Church is arrayed in purple and red color and decked with gold having a golden cup?

Revelations 13:16-18
16, And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six

Yes good topic... and why do we as protestants continue to follow the RCC over God's Word....

God's Sabbath is the 7th Day of the week that God commands his people to keep as a Holy day as a memorial of creation (Gene 2:1-3). The Sabbath was made for mankind and Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath and commands us to obey it. (Ex 20:8-11; Mark 2:27-28) The 7th Day Sabbath is the 4th commandment and one of the 10. If we knowingly break any of God's 10 commandments we commit sin because sin is the transgression of God's Law (Romans 7:7; James 2:11; 1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20). If we break one of God's 10 commandments we are guilty of breaking all of them and are in danger of the judgement if we do not repent and seek God's forgiveness (James 2:8-12).

Sunday worship is a teaching and tradition of man over the Word if God and there is no command to keep it over God's Word that commands us to keep God's Sabbath as a Holy day.

Are we following God's Word if we are breaking God's commandments by following the traditions and teachings of man?

Matthew 15:3-9,

3, But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 4, For God commanded, saying, Honor thy father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death. 5, But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou might be profited by me; 6, And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. 7, Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8, This people draws nigh unto me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9, But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Who should we follow God or man?

As it is written let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou might be justified in thy sayings, and might overcome when thou art judged. In times of ignorance God winks at but now commands all men everywhere to repent. His Word is calling all that have ears to hear... to fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

The 7th Day Sabbath is a memorial of creation, a holy day for the worship of the creator of Heaven and earth and a sign of those that follow him because they love him.
