When you don’t sin, there are no consequences to your sin. Therefore, it is worth the effort to stop sinning.

I dont why you feel the need to start another thread Ress on this.

Wonly when the heavens are renewed at the end of this age will there be no sin. all of us still suffer the consequences of not just our own sin but others aswell.

Romans 6:16
(16) Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

We need to concentrate on being surrendered to Christ so He can work in us.
Philippians 1:6
(6) Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform (finish) it until the day of Jesus Christ:

yet we live in a fallen world, and will be affected by the consequences of the sin of others even if we stop sinning (which scripture states we can't until the next life)

I mean, tell the mother who lost her child to a drunk driver that her son should not have sinned and he would not have suffered and see what she does to you!

Certainly worth the effort to try! lol

However, it is impossible to completely stop sinning. That's why Jesus came and died.

Actually Jesus died to deliver us from the bondage of sin, making us able to choose not to.

being able not to sin, and doing it 100 % of the time is not the same. Scripture makes it quite clear we are unable to do it 100 % of the time.

One would have to truly understand and accept what the law says about sin and sinners before one gets that simple truth in. And, like have been said in a similar thread, this is directly related to the gospel. Both are necessarily related and cannot be separated. You can neither have law without gospel, nor gospel without law.

ty tribesman.
i wish it was taught more - the Law & Gospel.

it would help ease so much of the confusion of what seem to be contradictory statements, even within a single passage!

folks forget we still have a wee problem called in the greek: sarx

according to my reading we need the resurrection and glorification before we win this battle and acheive/receive perfection.
take care

This is true. where the danger comes in is misinterpreting the facts of the law and the gospel.

1. The law makes us know we are guilty.
2. The law is a tutor to bring us to christ.

and adding things which are not true

Obeying the law will make us right with God. and help save us

Indeed, dear. I believe the main problem with most errors and heresies (of today and of old) is that they do not accurately acknowledge God's standard of righteousness and sin, as set forth in His law. By doing that there is no way that they rightly will receive or understand the gospel.

nor is the Real Identity of Jesus Christ understood.
he gets the nod as a super-cool example.

you've prolly seen this but its short and to the point.

~

The peril of perfectionism is that it seriously distorts the human mind. Imagine the contortions through which we must put ourselves to delude us into thinking that we have in fact achieved a state of sinlessness.

Inevitably the error of perfectionism breeds one, or usually two, deadly delusions. To convince ourselves that we have achieved sinlessness, we must either suffer from a radical overestimation of our moral performance or we must seriously underestimate the requirements of God’s law. The irony of perfectionism is this: Though it seeks to distance itself from antinomianism, it relentlessly and inevitably comes full circle to the same error.

To believe that we are sinless we must annul the standards of God’s Law. We must reduce the level of divine righteousness to the level of our own performance. We must lie to ourselves both about the Law of God and about our own obedience. To do that requires that we quench the Spirit when He seeks to convict us of sin. Persons who do that are not so much Spirit-filled as they are Spirit-quenchers.

It may also put sanctification into our hands....seems thats the same as Israel did
with the law...thinking they attained to righteousness by their efforts.

Romans 9:30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. 31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. 32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; 33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Eliteism and perfectionism must not see they are led by pride rather than the Spirit(faith in His work past present and future)

amen Abiding!

a little look at the word "led", ie:
Galatians 5
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

agó: to lead, bring, carry
Original Word: ἄγω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: agó
Phonetic Spelling: (ag'-o)
Short Definition: I lead
Definition: I lead, lead away, bring (a person, or animal), guide, spend a day, go.

an intense word study shows its a little more than leading as in hoping someone follows!!! LOL.
more like taken as in under arrest (Paul)! delivered!

love you

Actually just the opposite it true. Scripture tells us God is able to keep us from sin 100% of the time.

I dont know where you people come up with your junk, but it is not from the scriptures

1 John 1:8
If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

there's no truth in you.

you claim equality with Christ Jesus.

fully and utterly deceived. an heretic.
denying every core doctrine of the christian faith.

but you've done that since you got here. and before that as well.

anathema.

ever heard of Lou Engle?
yes or no?

lying is a sin.
