The Sea of Glass

Any thoughts on what this might be?

Rev 4:6 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.


Rev 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

Here are some thought concerning the scripture gave. Maybe they will give you some thoughts to run reference on to further you knowledge on this subject

Re 4:6
And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

The sea of glass represents the extended and large kingdom of God that will be for the redeemed that have held fast the faith until the end.
John explained the servants that were before the throne as beasts, but I would like to think of them as powerful creations of God.
Eze 10:15 And the cherubims were lifted up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar.

These are explained in more detail in Ezekiel Chapter 1 and Chapter 10 and the beast are described as cherubims in chapter 10. It is unclear as to the possibility of the vision in Ezeliel is actually being the throne of God or a manifestation of it, but so many of the things are simular that it must be the same vision in Ezekiel's and John's writings


Re 15:2
And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

The proclamation made in verse 2 includes only those that stood true to our Lord Jesus
during the tribulation period. The Sea of Glass that they are standing on is mentioned in Rev 4:6
during the first vision that John saw of the throne of God. He stated that the Sea of Glass was
before the throne. In Rev 7:13-17 John gives us a picture of the raptured church and here again
he shows us that they are standing on that sea of glass before the throne
