"Heaven' and 'Hell" are frames of mind. John the Baptist and Jesus taught, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Heaven, in terms of spacetime, is 'here and now'. Our eternal soul is always present in the here and now, especially when we are incarnated in human form.

What are you gonna' do when God tells you you've been teaching people a whole lot of mis-truths? I'm not perfect but I don't teach my imperfections to others.

Brad, I'd love to call you brother. But I cannot. For you are no brother in Christ. I do not know enough about what you believe to accurately disassemble your misgivings so I will do my best to give a broad spectrum of the reality of the situation. First, God exists, and Jesus is "THE ONLY WAY" to the salvation that is to be found in God. I know this not only from the Holy scriptures, but through experiences. Like being blinded to my knees by a homeless man who came in the name of the Lord. Where I remained on my knees for the duration of at least 15 minutes unable to raise the bill of my hat to even see his sandals. I was not alone but had a witness who was blinded behind me. For three days we had visions while we slept that manifested into real life situations for those three days. For the rest of my life I would have no right to say "I didn't know" The bible is true and I know this because that homeless man who blinded me began with the words "thus says the Lord God" I'm pretty sure he was quoting ezekiel. Since then I have done extensive research on the different ancient scriptures (Textus Receptus,Codex Sinaiticus, Codex Vaticanus) as well as archaeological and historical findings that support the truth to be found in the scriptures with infallable proofs. I cannot even begin to scratch the surface of all of the overwhelming evidence. You will just have to look for yourself. Just know this. Archaeologists and historians alike have tried to disprove the bible in ways they knew was easy. In the end they proved it accurate to the letter and have become some of christianities most ardent supporters. The bible states very clearly that there is a hell and there is a heaven and they aren't just frames of mind. You would apparently like to take one thing Jesus says and think that it counteracts the rest of the bible. It is safe to say that you simply don't understand anything that is spiritual and you can't get away from your worldly brain. You see, you have overlooked these passages.
Psalm 55:15
Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them. (notice how death came first.. then hell.)

Ezekiel 31:17
They also went down into hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword; and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen.
(again, notice he went down to hell with those that were slain)

Ezekiel 32:21
The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie uncircumcised, slain by the sword.
(and again)

Matthew 10:28
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
(now thats interesting)

Luke 16:22-29

King James Version (KJV)

22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

Brad, I have nothing left to say to you. Fairwell.

The Bible nowhere teaches that we have an eternal soul
Genesis 2:7
(7) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Notice the creation of man where it says that man became a living soul, it does not say man was given a soul.

Ezekiel 18:4
(4) Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Ezekiel 18:20
(20) The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

These verses teach the opposite to what you are saying, we do not have an eternal soul.

1 Timothy 6:15-16
(15) Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
(16) Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

Only God is immortal

the soul should be likened to your personality. Your spirit and your soul are two different things. We were made in Gods image. God is - a spirit 2 invisible and 3 immortal. since we were made in His image we would all be carbon copies of eachother except we were given souls "which is likened to our personality. Animals also have souls, but they were not made in the image of God so they have no spirit. when their body dies their soul dies with it.. our soul however goes with our spirit when we die. Which is in fact eternal.. God bless

The spirit is the breath of life
Ecclesiastes 12:7
(7) Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

This verse is the opposite of the one in Genesis
Genesis 2:7
(7) And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

This is the meaning of the word spirit

(still don't see what you're trying to say) God breathed life and we became a living soul... okay?

our spirit does belong to God.. and we do return to Him when we die.. for a judgement.

The spirit is the breath of life which returns to God.
The soul is:- Body + Breath of life = A soul.
When we die this happens, Body - Breath of life = No soul

That is what the Bible says. We sleep (no nothing) until the resurrection
1 Kings 2:10
(10) So David slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David.
1 Kings 11:43
(43) And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
1 Kings 14:31
(31) And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead.

1 Thessalonians 4:16
(16) For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
John 5:28-29
(28) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
(29) And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

Notice it says that are in the graves not in heaven or hell

Matthew 17

1And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
2And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
3And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.
4Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Lazarus and the rich man is a parable, the point of which is that even if a man were raised from the dead, people still would not believe. See verse 31

The transfiguration was a vision. See verse 9.

The dead will be raised at one of the upcoming resurrections. Until then, they remain dead.

Remember, Jesus was dead for three days and three nights, until God raised him. The kingdom of Christ is still future. He will set it up after the battle of armageddon. At that point the resurrection of the just will happen, when all OT believers (including the thief) will get up from the dead.

According to the Bible,it seems like the soul is the only thing that will be in heaven for eternity, that the saints will keep, out of flesh, spirit, and soul. The soul with a glorified body. The Bible says that there are souls underneath the alter in heaven awaiting their brethren to join them. The saints do not need the spirit in heaven, and that is why all spirits go back to God,and they certainly will not have flesh,so the soul will be eternal in heaven.

26For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul(Matthew 16:26).

Here we see that it is the soul that does profit, and is important to save, and if it is the soul that does profit, then it is eternal. It does not say save your spirit. We have to be something for eternity in heaven out of flesh, spirit, and soul, and the flesh will not be there, and we will not keep our spirit for they all go back to God,even the sinner's spirit,so the soul must be eternal in heaven, and we are not going to be a glorified body only, for then it would be empty,so our soul must be in that glorified body.

39But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul(Hebrews 10:39).

21Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls(James 1:21).

9Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls(1 Peter 1:9).

We see it is the soul that is saved, and if it is saved,it is eternal.

That is true about punctuation, Jesus also said this after His resurrection
John 20:17
(17) Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Jesus did not go to Paradise (Heaven) the day He died
