I was perplexed on how to deal with my younger brother until today on this subject...sometimes I can be quite slow...

See, my brother's wife is a professed athiest...and he always says that he believes she believes with the same faith that he does...et cetera...I am unsure what faith he places his trust in right now anyway...and I am sure most Christians have heard this spew before...

And I was thinking and praying...and then God showed me...whats the first and greatest commandment???

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, strength and soul...

Now it is obvious, his wife persistantly lives in disobedience to this commandment...as all non-Christians do as well...

For, it is impossible to love the Lord your God without Jesus Christ...He is the only mediator there is, not you or anybody else...so it is impossible to truly love without Jesus...and his love being active in us and in and through our lives is what matters...and this love not being active is the greatest sin...

I hope this helps--though its simple and obvious--as I was having a hard time seeing how to explain that not believing, and not loving God are both sins--which they are, they could even be described as the greatest sins...

That doesn't mean we can't love Humans with all of our hearts, minds, strength and souls. As an atheist, I try to do just that. This (as far as the ones I've met) applies even to Muslims, Jews, and other religions as well.

I hope your brother's marriage is in no way handicapped by their difference in faiths, good luck

Heb 3
17And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, (A)whose bodies fell in the wilderness?
18And to whom did He swear (B)that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were (C)disobedient? 19So we see that they were not able to enter because of (D)unbelief.
