hmmm I'm thinking b4 you respond you should pray Christs words into your response. Not condescending "sweeties" do you honestly think she's listening to you after reading that. WHY would you think I was being condescending? I was not. I speaking, simply, as an older, motherly, teacher (which is one of my giftings). Did you not read the entire post?
We need to speak the truth in love. I understand it is necessary to rebuke at times but we need to also pray for the right words to convict those who are reading if its necessary. Also, I know blu & she's a beautiful lady. I don't question that! You should not take offense for another person. Doing so is wrong, even if the person you take offense FOR is offended. If she herself felt I was being unkind, then it is she that should say so. Regardless, I intended no offense of condescension. She's younger than I am, that's all. Believe me when I tell you that if I had wanted to be condescending and had done so, the whole lot of you would have been down my throat because it would have been very obvious and harsh. But then what would be the point of that? Then all that I typed would not be received as wisdom, and she would see no cause to REconsider the things she writes. I hope that makes sense.
~I was in a group once, on a different site. One of the members called himself a pastor, saying he pastured a church in the NW. He would not say what city or the name of his church. This guy, if you disagreed with him would do exactly what you accused me of….use terms of endearment, but VERY sarcastically. He would call me 'dear', sweetheart' and others that I don't recall. He was ANGRY because I did not agree with him. His sarcasm was not lost on anyone in the group. He was mean, rude and never apologized…although he did get kicked out of the group several times for his inability to exude the love of Christ. I was informed that he had mental problems, but that, IMO, as no excuse for his unchristian demeanor in posting. We all have to learn to take correction without taking offense. While it was his purpose to offend me, hoping I would leave the group, my calling Blu, 'Sweetie" was simple, 'motherly' friendliness. I AM old enough to be her mom! And then some~~

~ok don't tell anyone else that! Cuz I refuse to act like it! ;-)

If you look at it TV is made for making money, and the people running it are only concerned about taking yours!

They market things by the spirit of witchcraft, always trying to tickle your ear to make a buck!

It is all for money, so where does God stand on that?

None of it is truth, it's all fiction, God is a God of truth!

So what, it's ok to be apart of a lie, and finding enjoyment in believing a lie is ok?

I think not!

The love of money is what controls TV!

So how can it be good for you to watch?

There ARE programs that are wholesome, albeit hard to find. Any what about the Christian programming?

I think it was hindered by the change of the target audience... the first books set up a child-oriented world and story, but the author tried to turn it into a more mature world and story. It wasn't bad, I liked it to, but that was because as they came out I was growing along with the books, I couldn't reread the first if I tried.

Yeah, I have lots of good memories of Harry Potter. I used to read between the crack of my desk and the wall (a nice hiding place!) and read harry potter with flashlights at night. i just re-read the series because I am a dork like that.

You, my friend, have a much longer attention span than I, then.

Unless a person is very grounded in and knowlegdable in the word of God they shoud NOT be wasting the time that God has given them watching such movies. It is rare, but God does, at times, give grace to a person to watch such a movie for the purpose of critiquing the accuracy of it. Did you know that every time a new HP book or movie comes out that the WICCA and other witchcraft websites get MILLIONS of hits by young teens wanting to know how to become witches? These books and movies are a ploy from satan's camp to ENTICE our kids into the sin of rebellion and witchcraft!!

I agree with you that witchcraft is from the devil and as a Christian I want to warn people to stay away from any form of witchcraft. Stay away.

There are many spiritual truths …things that are 'for real' that are not listed in the Bible. The KEY to being able to DICSERN them is to know the Character of God, His ways, and His word, through daily reading of His word. the bible is pretty much the only 100% factual book there is. Everyone stretches things or distorts them to fit what the public wants to hear. You're saying that anything that mentions witches or wizards is evil? All those mentioned ARE evil BECAUSE they all work to desensitize us to the REAL evil that it is. We tend to view anything and everything that is CARTOON as fiction and 'just made up' when in fact it is true representation of how the kingdom of darkness works. It is very subtle….VERY! And of course throwing in humor always distracts the unsuspecting viewer. What about the Chronicles of Narnia? I do disagree on this one BECAUSE the evil portrayed in this movie IS portrayed as just that; evil. There is nothing nice about the "White witch" and the movie does not attempt to make her look anything other that the evil Jezebel that she is.
An obviously Christian book--and YES there is a witch involved! OMG so it's evil?!?! because there's a witch!? ahh! death! I LOVE fiction books. I love the imagination and complete ridiculousness put into them. But i KNOW fact from fiction. I KNOW that the bible is fact. if you cant discern these then you shouldn't be reading anything but the bible! The question is this: do you, do all of you, spend MORE time reading the Bible than reading the fiction?? Hope so! And you definitely shouldn't be watching movies or TV... because heaven forbid you watch a TV show about fake wizards and all of a sudden think you should become one. 'Fake" is exactly what the devil WANTS you to think!! I just think it's wrong of you to say it's evil... It's only evil if YOU make it that way. No. Evil IS EVIL…and WE cannot make it that way by anything we do or do not think. I'm sure JK Rowling wasn't like "Oh hey, i'm going to write a book to be Evil and corrupt young minds!" And you think she would admit to that??? Believe me when I tell you, there are greater evil powers behind her writings than that of a simple, 'fortunate to have a best-selling series' author. As I said before, the FIRST rule of writing (ever taken a creative writing class?) is to write what you know. Her books and movies are VERY accurate as to the evil portrayed in them, the sorcery, the manipulation of people, not to mention the intense wickedness, blatant evil AND REBELLION!! That is in every one of them. Rebellion, remember, is the going against God's directive and commands. His words says to not suffer a witch to live! On MUST ask: How is it that Rowling has all this knowledge about evil??? As an author myself, you write what you like. I like fantasy, I write fantasy... does this mean that I am evil? no. i'm not. and I'll be in Heaven just as you will (if you are a true christian) so dont try to tell me otherwise Sweetie, if your fantasy involves magic of any kind…the working of anything supernatural or 'miraculous' and it is done not in the name of Jesus Christ, you are presenting power withOUT the Holy Spirit. And that is rebellion. It is sin. Unless your fantasy writing is turning people TO JESUS, it sets them on a different course. Is that what you 'like'?
Don't let satan use you as an unwitting tool for his deceptions
Mind you, I'm not judging your heart. I'm questioning your fruit, though, which is what we are supposed to do.

Also, I know blu & she's a beautiful lady. Blu, I do happen to agree with Maggie that these things can and will be used by satan. If you are writing of such things (I cant speak to your writing as i've never actually read it and would never say its from Satan until i'd actually read what your wrote) anyway, you should definitely pray & fast over what direction the Lord will send you in your talent, that you can use your amazing gift of words for the young Children in the Lord, to amaze them & entertain them & perhaps get them thinking about mysterious places like "Heaven!". :)

yeah mossy u know me well ;)

I didn't really listen to a word of that. lol but i'm stubborn and quite frankly i'm going to continue to believe the way i do. I have a relationship with God that cannot be explained. Can I go around quoting the bible and declaring all things fact or fiction based on what the bible says? Nope. I cant. I am still learning. I dont know anything, really. But I'm not going to go by what others tell me or convey as truth. I need to learn for myself. Through God alone. It's the way I believe. Everyone was taught something by someone else. I learned about God through another person, but I dont think I can establish a relationship with Him based on what others say or teach because I really dont know how much of what they say is truth. So being that I really do look at everything (other than the bible) as fictional... I dont have a problem reading anything. I've taken a "human religious experience" class and learned about other cultures' religions like buddism and mormonism and yes, even wiccan. I never once even slightly questioned my own beliefs. I guess I'm stronger than some in that sense, because I really do have a relationship with God. I pray about what I read about, and feel no guilt in reading it what-so-ever. People ask, "Would you watch this if Jesus was sitting next to you?" and in everything I watch, I say "yes, it would be interesting to discuss it with Him." And I do. I pray and let him know how things affect me. I look at God as my best friend, my father, and my savior; but I mostly speak to Him as my friend.

I am slightly offended that you regard my writing as "sinful" because it's fantasy centered and generally goofy. classic good vs. bad scenarios. What a boring world we would live in if it consisted strictly of romantic comedies and "christian dramas". I hate to say it but it's true. it would be boring. lol but I'm sure everyone here would be pretty bored without their constant "battling evil" in forums too :) (in this case me being the 'evil' LOL pfft.) I appreciate your concern or whatever else... but I assure you, I write nothing without consulting God first, He gave me this talent, so I am going to use it :D (and not by putting people to sleep either! ;))

HARRY POTTER is the work of the Devil! All witchcraft is from the Devil.
Thank you I agree with you Harry Potter is the work of the devil. I also believe that all witchcraft is from the devil and Christians should not allow children to read Harry Potter. I have write letters to many magazines and newspapers to warn people that Harry Potter is evil but most of them did not publish it. They should publish it so that all people who like Harry Potter will see Harry Potter is wrong. Stay very far away from Harry Potter. The Bible clearly tells us to have nothing to do with witchcraft and I hate witchcraft. I believe in Jesus Christ and if he told me something is wrong I believe it is wrong.
