Be Careful though everything in the NT cannot be found in the OT. I'm just talking about those who scrutinize to enth degree. You can't find the word "cross" in the OT. You can't find the word "church"in the OT. I read and adore the OT and most if not all was given as shadow of the NT.

it's important to test everything, we can't be gullible and believe everything, we must be Bereans testing everything against the Word of God, we are in perilous times, and many deceivers are out there, and we must guard ourselves with the Truth, God's truth, not someone else idea of their version of the truth, for those who study the Word of God we will be able to discern between what is good and what is evil, now is not a time to sleep and slumber, but to be awake and vigilant, satan our adversary is prowling about seeking someone to devour, we as God's children must be wise as serpents and gentle as doves.

So, I've prayed for guidance here because I could easily be casting judgement I have no right to make, but something about it makes me shake. I trust God in all things and hope He will instruct me if I have misread, or misled myself.
Nothing wrong with "casting judgment" regarding what is true and what is untrue. Indeed without discernment, and the God-given ability to judge things, we are left reprobate:

John 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

The bible offers us the prescription. Don't turn to your emotions or instincts, and believe something you think God "guided" you to:

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?

We are instructed as to what to do:

1Th 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

The only way we can do that is through the Word. Through THE truth - in all things.

I have heard lots of don’ts since I joined cc.

Don’t have anything to do with circles.

Be careful of law for that is legalism

There are many people and groups who are of the devil. Find out all you can about them so anything they believe in you must stay away from. Joyce Meyers, Catholics, Hebrew Roots, Rick Warren, and lots of isms that I can’t pronounce.

My grandson in law says I must never have a candle in the house because witchcraft uses candles. I haven’t found out where he learned about witchcraft.

Check everything given in the OT, if it isn’t repeated in the NT it isn’t valid.

Don’t step on a crack, it will break your mother’s back---no come to think of it, I heard that as a child not on cc.

There are so many don't's there isn't room for the do's and somewhere there is something against whatever you learn of God. Let's see, grace and forgiveness are accepted by all, but law, OT, Jews, Catholics, Judism, circles, Hebrew Roots, ---I've lost count of all that is evil.

I think I'll forget all this and just go back to learning all I can about the wonders of God, and how to live in His Kingdom.
The bible is full of don'ts. GOD doesn't want us to be like the world. People should be able to look at us and the way we live our lives and know that we are different. But in order for us to do this we have to have studied the bible on our own. nothing wrong with taking someone else view point, and trying to find out where it stands in the bible. searching scripture, weighing all the opinions against scriptures, praying about it, fasting about it maybe. GOD wants this. HE doesn't want us to be stupid about the matters concerning HIM. HE is not the author of confusion.
A lot of people (cc) = a lot of opinions = a lot of problems.
SO with that being said, CC has a lot of opinions, problems, a lot of don'ts, but it does have a lot of good people trying to find their way, some more than others. Best thing to do is "I think I'll forget all this and just go back to learning all I can about the wonders of God, and how to live in His Kingdom."
and when you can weed out the good from the bad you could come back to cc if you want. OR you can stay in cc and pick out diverse topics and try to line it up with the BIBLE, and allow it to be your testing ground on what you have learned. OR you can find a few good friends in here and support each other with prayers and such. many many options.

ok nuff' said, I need coffee. (just got up)

Here are some do's and dont's on prayer and btw no circles mentioned ...ahem or needed.....

Matthew 6:5-13 And when ye pray, ye shall not be as the hypocrites: for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have received their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thine inner chamber, and having shut thy door, pray to thy Father who is in secret, and thy Father who seeth in secret shall recompense thee.
And in praying use not vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Be not therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
After this manner therefore pray ye. Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

I came across this LINK today and I wanted to run for the alarm bell. Mark Batterson has a new book titled The Circle Maker that is a marketed as prayer-focused, but seemingly built on a Talmudic story of Honi. Obviously, the first thought that should jump out is...I don't remember Honi from the bible. He is reported as a 1BCE scholar/mystic/prayer man, depending where you source the info from.

What I can tell you is this. If you click on the trailer, you first see Batterson drawing a circle, standing in it and praying. I cringed and thought, "Uh, Jesus didn't circle himself in Gethsemane." In fact, apart of the walls of Jericho, I can't think of anything circle-related with God or prayer. Anyway, I do recall that praying in circles is a pagan practice that witch-types use even to this day. So, the next video clip on the link tells the story of Honi. The third clip shows the Book of Legends, where Batterson got the Honi story from. And by the end of this I've started to view a few reviews, like a USA today that makes me double cringe.

One from USA today and another from a site run by a GeorgePWood (proclaimed contrarian pastor)
The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson: Book Review - USATODAY.com
Review of “The Circle Maker” by Mark Batterson GeorgePWood.com

So, I've prayed for guidance here because I could easily be casting judgement I have no right to make, but something about it makes me shake. I trust God in all things and hope He will instruct me if I have misread, or misled myself.

If you do have a few minutes, I would greatly appreciate other faithfuls who would ask for discernment and view. Am I seeing this wrong?
Sounds like the alarm bells are ringing...so probably best to listen to them :) There is a lot of stuff around that seems plausible but is actually based on stuff we are best to avoid. A web site called Lighthouse Trails is useful, has a huge database and loads of up to date info on whats being presented as the latest way to get our faith right...its really informative about such things as yoga, lecto divina etc What can seem quite harmless can have much deeper and even sinister, hidden meanings that we can be unaware of. Getting the background information means we can then make informed opinions right for us. God Bless <><

P.S. Batterson is releasing a Circle Maker Curriculum Kit, which includes “one hardcover book, one participant’s guide, one DVD-ROM containing four small-group video sessions, a getting started guide, four sermon outlines, and all the church promotional materials needed to successfully launch and sustain a four-week church experience.”

When I read this part, it was then I realized it wasn't worth having. Just another snake oil salesman selling his wares.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 [SUP]3 [/SUP]For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; [SUP]4 [/SUP]And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

When the church itches for something new, someone will have just the scratch they need....... for a price

If you are looking for the word itself, you won't find it. Two different languages. But what is the meaning of "cross?" It is there you'd find it's OT counterpart.

Yes it is...

Honi is at best a Jewish fable.

Titus 1:13-14

New King James Version (NKJV)

[SUP]13 [/SUP]This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, [SUP]14 [/SUP]not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn from the truth.
Why do we need more than the word of God to direct our practices?

Is what God ordained in his word insufficient?

You dont get good fruit from a bad tree the talmud is poison do not mess with it. John 10;3 hear HIS voice run from any other. The enemy allways comes as a sheep a counterfiet it looks good seems harmless but the end is death. You have know idea what things this talmud teaches and promotes. Both the Babylonian and the Jerusalem talmud are full of demonic teachings no matter what someone may say to you. You cant put lipstick on this pig it is still fowl. Blessings

Great comments.
We have to test everything but most important, if we do find something that is not the same as what we believe in, we have to be flexible enough to change to what God wants, without hesitation.
God will only give you more light when He sees that you are willing to follow Him in His Word.
There are roughly 26,000 different church groups around the world, based around One Truth.
Everyone with their own teachings.
The basis or foundation of our religion is that we believe in a Living God and not a statue or something else.
We have received a living proof of God's existence namely Jesus Christ, the Son of God, which is also the gateway to God.
There is no other God or path to follow.
Our God's existence has been proven and all other religions still have to prove their existence.
We also don't believe that everybody is believing in the same God as every church today teaches differently from what the Bible is teaching and there can only be one true God with one Truth.
To study any other doctrine is a waste of very valuable time as time is running out.
Spend your time wisely with God and His Word.

As, I've said, this is not a teaching about drawing a circle. It is a teaching on persistent prayer. He simply says he will not come out the circle until God answers. He did not draw a circle every time he prayed, nor is teaching anyone to do so. I'm open to correction since I've only listened to a teaching but never read the book. If the book says, draw a circle, then it is no different from people saying march around the city & find out what demonic strongholds are there. How about send a piece of cloth & we will anoint it & pray over it, then send the same cloth back. There is so much foolishness being done on television & radio, I think this one is innocent.

It is for this very reason Paul tells us what to do with such teachings Gal.1;8 Just trying to study the word of GOD is hard enough without adding all this stuff. No where does the Bible tell us to make a demand and say I will not do this without an answer. This is a bad idea. How would you be able to tell if what ever you demand from GOD is HIS will. It must be found in the word of GOD. THE talmud IS EVIL NOTHING GOOD COMES FROM IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOTHING!
