Default Obama and Contraception

I think Obama wants to see the right thing done for religious liberty and a women's right to contraception. What do you think of Obama's compromise on the contraception issue? Do you think he did the right thing?

He is in a touch spot on that one. On one hand, the majority overwhelmingly agrees with him providing contraception, even among Catholics. On the other hand, the republicans would have used that to light a fire with the right wing.

As an American, I do not agree with his compromise.

There is a proposal on the table that there could be a separate insurance plan offered so that those hospitals, universities and charities mentioned wouldn't have to offer contraception. Of course, churches and missions are exempt already.

Here’s how the HHS mandate and the new “accommodation” work.

Then: All employers that don’t meet the narrow “religious exemption,” including Catholic hospitals and universities, are required by law to provide insurance coverage that includes contraception and sterilization procedures with no out of pocket costs cost to the insured.

Now: All employers that don’t meet the narrow “religious exemption,” including Catholic hospitals and universities, are required by law to provide insurance coverage. All such coverage must include contraception and sterilization procedures with no out of pocket costs cost to the insured.

Some compromise. Fortunately it seems that the Bishops are well aware of this fake "compromise" and are still promising to fight on.

IMHO, the solution set forth by Obama was a stroke of genius. Whew!...talk about finesse ! A masterful job by the master himself.

Why should I have to pay for someone else’s contraception, through my insurance premiums?
