Joel Osteen says they (the Hindus) love God, and they're sincere, etc.

(Actually I'm just doing this to test our new youtube tag, for embedding youtube video.) :)

The Apostle Paul (formerly known as Saul of Tarsus) stated that he had lived his entire life in all good conscience. He also stated that he was the chiefest of sinners. This same man by the Holy Spirit wrote that their is only one Lord, one faith, and one body.

Joel Osteen is a false teacher if he cannot or will not unequivocally state that Jesus is THE way, THE truth, and THE life and that no one goes to the Father except through Him.

Paul was sincere but dead wrong.

To me it sounds like he's trying to say this is what the Bible says. I believe what the Bible says and here it is. While at the same time he's trying to be careful about actually casting judgment on people because God is the only one who ultimately makes that decision.

I think it's one thing to say, "according to God's word (the Bible), if you don't believe in Jesus then you're going to hell." It's another to put yourself in the place of God and start proclaiming the eternal ****ation of folks.

I agree he comes across as rather weak on this issue, but maybe he's just trying to avoid placing himself in the seat of God?

I'm sitting here trying to put myself in his shoes and see how I'd answer that question........

I mean on one hand God IS the only one who can proclaim ultimate judgment and send people to hell. On the other hand the Bible is pretty clear on who gets in and who doesn't.

I guess I'd answer something like, "Hey God's word says Jesus is the only way and those that don't accept him are going to hell." But then I think I'd clarify that God is the only one who casts ultimate judgment and I'm simply quoting His word. It's a fine line to walk for sure between clearly speaking truth and putting yourself as the ultimate judge.

I really don't want to be critical just for the sake of being critical.. I don't want to nitpick.. but did you hear the last part? Starting at 00:52 where he talks about his experience in India. Listen to that part (again). (He knows that Hindus love God.. he's seen their sincerity, etc... all in the context of the question of whether or not Jesus is the only way.)

But just to make the point clearer, here is Joel Osteen on Mormonism:

Although in this case, he could just be extremely ignorant (to the max).

Yeah Joel needs a class on comparative religions for sure. I was watching that interview live as it happened about Mormonism. Total botched one there. The guy just honestly isn't educated enough to be preaching to the size of audience he preaches too. He comes across as clueless on what other faith's believe.

You know he has the biggest church in America, don't you? He bought a stadium (literally) to house them all.

Well.... you don't get the biggest church in America by rocking people's boat.

(In other words, you don't get the biggest church by teaching all of the word of God!) :)

Also take a look at Mother Teresa for not wanting to rock the boat with the Hindus, and thinking Hindus love and worship God.

Joel Osteen is a VERY weak Christian if he is in fact one at all.....Research the famous interview with CNN's Larry King about his ministry, and he basically wimps out....He could have used many opportunities to warn people about the lake of fire and salvation, but all he is is prosperity gospel!!!

I see this fella on TV sometimes on the Christian channel. He rarely mentions God and rarely quotes from the bible. I don't know what his game is but he's suspicious.

My wife was starting to watch him, and that's why I found these excerpts. First I asked my wife: "Would you vote for a Mormon?" Her answer was an emphatic no. Then I played the part where Osteen says he would vote for that Mormon candidate (Mitt Romney or whatever his name is). She was surprised. And I asked my wife "Are Mormons Christians?" She immediately answered no. Then I said well listen to your "pastor" here, and played Osteen saying that Mormons are Christians.

My wife was left kinda speechless. :D haha

i agree with roaringkitten on joel olsteen. though i am not trying to pass judgment on the man because we are all made in GOD's image. but on his message and how he preaches. it sickens me that he's not trying to warn people about this and he's just tickiling their ears. i hope GOD makes him see what he is doing and changes him

Mega-church mentality. I started a thread in the Miscellaneous section on what people think of the Mega-church in America. I think his beliefs are a direct result of the MCP (mega-church preaching) weak, secular, sweet, however you want to look at it, it will send many people to hell, which by the way is a word (hell) that NEVER gets mentioned in the typical MCP. The typical Christian in America is luke warm, which as God states in the bible, is going to get you sent to hell. Rev 3:16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Just look it up, Texas is full of the mega churches, Gateway in Southlake TX, is worse than Osteen's, it's such a sick phenomonan. It sure as heck pays the bills though.

Yah I don't like mega churches; I'm more into micro churches :D we had a micro-church in our home for years in Thailand. :D

Occasionally someone would be driven away by my teaching, so I figure I must have been doing something right :D hahaha

Kinda the opposite of the Joel Osteen approach (and the mega-church mentality, and the wordly measure of "church success"). :)
