A 1,500-year-old Bible in which Jesus is believed to have foretold the coming of the Prophet Mohammed to Earth has attracted attention from the Vatican this week.
Pope Benedict XVI has reportedly requested to see the book, which has been hidden in Turkey for the last 12 years, according to the Daily Mail.
The text, reportedly worth $22 million, is said to contain Jesus’ prediction of the Prophet’s coming but was suppressed by the Christian Church for years for its strong resemblance to the Islamic view of Jesus, Turkish culture and tourism minister Ertugrul Gunay told the newspaper.
“In line with Islamic belief, the Gospel treats Jesus as a human being and not a God. It rejects the ideas of the Holy Trinity and the Crucifixion and reveals that Jesus predicted the coming of the Prophet Mohammed,” the newspaper reported.
“In one version of the gospel, he is said to have told a priest: ‘How shall the Messiah be called? Mohammed is his blessed name.’
“And in another, Jesus denied being the Messiah, claiming that he or she would be Ishmaelite, the term used for an Arab,” the newspaper added.
According to the report, Muslims claim the text, which many say is the Gospel of Barnabas, is an addition to the original gospels of Mark, Matthew, Luke and John.
St. Barnabas is traditionally identified as the founder of the Cypriot Church, an early Christian later named an apostle.
Gunay said the Vatican has officially requested to see the book, which Turkey had discovered during a police anti-smuggling operation in 2000.
The gang was reportedly convicted of smuggling various items seized during the operation, including the Bible, and all the artifacts were kept in a safe at an Ankara courthouse.
It remained closely guarded by authorities before being handed over to the Ankara Ethnography Museum where it will soon be put on show.
A photocopy of a single page from the leather-bound, gold-lettered book, penned in Jesus’ native Aramaic language is reportedly worth about $2.4 million.
But skepticism over the authenticity of the ancient handwritten manuscript has arisen.
Protestant pastor İhsan Özbek has said this version of the book is said to come from the fifth or sixth century, while St. Barnabas had lived in the first century as one of the Apostles of Jesus.
“The copy in Ankara might have been written by one of the followers of St. Barnabas,” he told the Today Zaman newspaper.
“Since there is around 500 years in between St. Barnabas and the writing of the Bible copy, Muslims may be disappointed to see that this copy does not include things they would like to see … It might have no relation with the content of the Gospel of Barnabas,” Özbek added.
But suspicions could soon be laid to rest.
The real age of the Bible could soon be determined by a scientific scan, theology professor Ömer Faruk Harman told the Daily Mail, possibly clarifying whether it was written by St. Barnabas or a follower of his.

The following people will know that this so-called Bible is a fake:
-- those with a close personal relationship with Jesus
-- those who have had their prayers to Jesus answered in a miraculous way
-- those who have been provided for and protected from harm by Jesus
-- those who have been used to perform miracles in the name of Jesus
-- those who have cast demons out of people in the name of Jesus
and many etc.

P.S. I have been making plans to be in Turkey for 2 weeks in September-October.

I agree brother. Just another lie from the father of lies. Mohammad is a false prophet and I believe the false prophet referred to in Rev 16:13, Rev 19:20, and Rev 20:10.
While alot of people may disagree with me and look forward to this false prophet in the future, it is in my opinion that this false prophet has already come and his teachings are leading alot of people to destruction.
An interesting book called "The False Prophet" which can be read online for free is at the following link.

True Christians who believe in God, and have given their lives to him will see and know the truth.

Lord help me Jesus, I'v wasted it so, help me Jesus,I know who I am
But now that I know that I needed you so, help me Jesus, my soul's in your hand

Why me Lord what have I ever done
to deserve even one of the pleasures I've known
Tell me, Lord, what did I ever do
that was worth lovin' you or the kindness you've shown

Lord help me, Jesus, I've wasted it so
help me Jesus I know what I am
but now that I know that I've needed you so
help me, Jesus, my soul's in your hand

Try me, Lord, if you think there's a way
I can try to repay all I've taken from you
maybe Lord I can show someone else
what I've been through myself, on my way back to you

Lord help me, Jesus, I've wasted it so
help me Jesus I know what I am
but now that I know that I've needed you so
help me, Jesus, my soul's in your hand

Lord help me, Jesus, I've wasted it so
help me Jesus I know what I am
but now that I know that I've needed you so
help me Jesus my souls in your hand
Jesus, my soul's in your hand.

My question is why did they keep it hidden so long? Me thinks theres something fishy about that, it also looks too pristine for something as old as Codex Vaticanus. The gold ink is also weird and is too bright to have been subject to 1,500 years of fading to my eyes.

But I'll wait for a test to be done; personally I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be from the 16th century and is just another of the many "Mohammad bibles" Muslims were producing around that time to "prove" Christians wrong. After all Islams great Achilles heel is that Mohammad is not foretold in either the OT or NT.

Also are you a Muslim? Your spiritual status says unsure but there have been a number of Muslims that have listed their spiritual status as unsure on here.

Irrelevant. It's not an original. We have manuscripts far more reliable than the Quran has ever been, that are much older than a 6th Century "bible".

I'm gonna call this one out for what it is. Another attempt by Muslims to try to prove they are right by way of falsification of the evidence. It's nothing new.

What is your purpose of posting this? You want to make a case for the legacy of Islam?

As for Islam accepting Jesus as "Messiah", you already know that the dividing line between them and christianity is that muslims deny that Jesus is the Son of God.

And as for the "Bible" in question. One have to take source critique and dating critique into the picture. Not just blindly believe what some paper and some youtube people says.

They kept it hidden for the right time. With the rise of chrislam, the right time is now. Anyone else think the one world religion could be chrislam. The two biggest religions combined. Now out of the blue comes a an ancient "bible" that supports this new movement. Welcome to the end times before the return of the lord. This will decieve many I'm sure.

Any Muslim will tell you that Mohammed is not the Messiah.
In fact they believe him to be a prophet of God which received his doctrine from the Archangel Gabriel. They also believed that Jesus was a prophet without sin.

If Jesus was not the son of God, he would have lied by calling Him Father and would have been blasphemous, which is exactly why the Jews were so angry with Him. Because they understood what He meant and they wanted to kill Him for it. However Jesus was without sin. So He was not lying. And therefore He must have been the Son of God.

As for Mohammed being the Messiah out of a different prospective than that of the Muslims...
Let him fulfill all the prophecies... as Jesus did fullfill each and every one of them.

Let's just take the first few...
He shall be born in Bethelem, called out of Egypt and be called a Nazarene.

Those are propbably the easiest ones to fulfill and Mohammed has not met them. So, sorry no. As I said even the devout Muslims will agree that Mohammed was not the Messiah. To them he is a prophet send by God.

Then secondly: please explain this text with this book that somehow magically just appeared...
1Jn 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1Jn 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
1Jn 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
1Jn 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
1Jn 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
1Jn 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
1Jn 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Explain how Jesus could be seen as part of the Trinity if he was merely another prophet? Or better yet, how He could restore the flesh of all men and the souls of all men with His death if he was merely another prophet?

This reminds me of the story that the people had about Moses and the Red sea I heard was.
The claim was that the winds blow so hard on a certain part of the red sea that the water actually gives way. However the water isn't very deep - just knee deep. So the claim was that the miracle wasn't so spectacular. So a youngster who heard this claimed was extremely excited, because God made the Pharoah and all his men drown in knee deep water.... :)

Honestly, in some distorted, disgusting hypothetical universe in which Islam was the Truth, and Allah was the real "God" I would rather go to hell. Personally, any type of religion that supports severe injustice, murdering innocents in the name of unrighteous causes, stoning young women for being raped by men, etc.... none of that is worth going to ANY type of "heaven" for. I would MUCH rather go to hell in that type of universe, because at least in that hell, there would be far more people who value justice burning along with me. Heaven would be full of terrorist crazies and people who don't know the meaning of love, respect, or justice. That heaven could go shove itself where the sun don't shine. I'd definitely be a heretic.

By your stated paradigm it is evident that you have a very poor understanding about the Muslim culture or as to the knowledge of how the people actually do live amongst each other. In any religion, even Christianity (crusaders) there are those that take murdering and raping into their own hands and by their own will and claim it to be of their deity. These fanaticals usually cause more harm than good towards their faith and the followers of their faith.

For the devout Muslim, honour, integrity, peace, rightiousness is considered essential as part of their core belief system. If one is but to go into their country one would realize the high esteem with which they treat people and the core values is emphasised much more than in the western cultures. For example they have set specific areas for single woman in a park and specific areas for single men and then specific areas for couples. A man is not allowed to enter into a room where a lady is alone. They even have different times for when certain groups can shop. People can walk freely on the street without the worry of someone that is going to attack or steal from them. If someone is caught stealing, there hand is chopped off. In truth, their society is much more disciplined and rightious according to their works, that we as westerners can hardly point a finger and make claims.

No one expects you to follow the path of a Muslim. But it is not necessary to try tell stories about them if you don't know the full facts, just because you feel threatened by their faith. Instead rather let your own works be an example to them... for Jesus said unless our rightious exceed those of the pharisees we will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Then muslims don't understand or accept what the bible itself says about the messiah, lol. Again like so many the muslims are treating the bible as a buffet and not realizing what it means to take Jesus as the Messiah.
