YOU SAID: Gibbering in unintelligible utterances isn't from God.
How simple is that?

Oh I'm sorry Edward, I didn't know you went around the world and carefully examined every Christian that is speaking with other tongues today and identified their language as gibberish. How would you possibly know if every person is speaking gibberish? And besides.....

1Corrinthians 14:2
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

They are not talking to you Edward....according to the Word of God, unless someone interprets you can't understand them anyway....They are talking to God....So it is God who decides if it is gibberish or not....Not You.

Hi IMINJC

All you have to do is read these two passages.

Acts 2
1And when the days of Pentecost were fulfilled, as all of them were assembled together, 2Suddenly there was from Heaven a sound like a mighty wind and the whole place in which they were sitting was filled with it. 3And tongues like fire that were divided appeared to them, and they sat on each one of them. 4And all of them were filled with The Spirit of Holiness, and they were going out speaking in various languages, according to whatever The Spirit was giving them to speak.

5But there were men dwelling in Jerusalem who were worshipers of God, Jews from every nation under Heaven. 6And when that noise occurred, the entire populace gathered and was agitated, because each one of them heard that they were speaking in their dialects. 7And they were all marveling and were amazed as they were saying, each to the other, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?” 8“How are we hearing, everyone, his own dialect in which we were born?” 9“Parthians and Medes and Elanites, and those who dwell in Bayth- Nahrayn, Judeans and Qapodoqians and those who are from the regions of Pontus and of Asia,” 10“And from the regions of Phrygia and of Pamphylia and of Egypt and of the countries of Libya which are near to Cyrene and those who came from Rome, Jews and proselytes”, 11“And who are from Crete, and Arabians, behold, we are hearing from those who are speaking in our own dialects, the wonders of God.” 12And they were all astonished and bewildered. They were saying one to another, “What is this phenomenon?” 13But others were mocking them as they said, “These have drunk new wine and have become drunk.”

The gifts of languages (speaking with understanding/has the gift of interpretation also) or without understanding (able to speak a gentile language, see above; but not able to interpret it for the assembled) Paul talks about is the exact same gift the disciples received on Pentecost.

That was predicted, it was for a sign to the jews, and for the salvation of the gentiles.

It's easy and lovely.

If I travel around and someone speaks to me in Finnish or Spanish, I'm pretty certain it's a known language of the earth; but I don't understand it, so I need an interpreter.

Not hard, man.

Examples of foreign languages as part of God's Judgment on israel (gentile exiles/oppressors, etc):

Ezekiel 3
Ezekiel’s Commission

1Then He said to me, “Son of man, eat what you find; eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” 2So I opened my mouth, and He fed me this scroll. 3He said to me, “Son of man, feed your stomach and fill your body with this scroll which I am giving you.” Then I ate it, and it was sweet as honey in my mouth.

4Then He said to me, “Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak with My words to them. 5“For you are not being sent to a people of unintelligible speech or difficult language, but to the house of Israel, 6nor to many peoples of unintelligible speech or difficult language, whose words you cannot understand. But I have sent you to them who should listen to you; 7yet the house of Israel will not be willing to listen to you, since they are not willing to listen to Me. Surely the whole house of Israel is stubborn and obstinate. 8“Behold, I have made your face as hard as their faces and your forehead as hard as their foreheads. 9“Like emery harder than flint I have made your forehead. Do not be afraid of them or be dismayed before them, though they are a rebellious house.” 10Moreover, He said to me, “Son of man, take into your heart all My words which I will speak to you and listen closely. 11“Go to the exiles, to the sons of your people, and speak to them and tell them, whether they listen or not, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD.’”

Isaiah 28
Ephraim’s Captivity Predicted

1Woe to the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim,
And to the fading flower of its glorious beauty,
Which is at the head of the fertile valley
Of those who are overcome with wine!
2Behold, the Lord has a strong and mighty agent;
As a storm of hail, a tempest of destruction,
Like a storm of mighty overflowing waters,
He has cast it down to the earth with His hand.

3The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim is trodden under foot.

4And the fading flower of its glorious beauty,
Which is at the head of the fertile valley,
Will be like the first-ripe fig prior to summer,
Which one sees,
And as soon as it is in his hand,
He swallows it.

5In that day the LORD of hosts will become a beautiful crown
And a glorious diadem to the remnant of His people;

6A spirit of justice for him who sits in judgment,
A strength to those who repel the onslaught at the gate.

7And these also reel with wine and stagger from strong drink:
The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink,
They are confused by wine, they stagger from strong drink;
They reel while having visions,
They totter when rendering judgment
.

8For all the tables are full of filthy vomit, without a single clean place.

9“To whom would He teach knowledge,
And to whom would He interpret the message?
Those just weaned from milk?
Those just taken from the breast?

10“For He says,
‘Order on order, order on order,
Line on line, line on line,
A little here, a little there.’”

11Indeed, He will speak to this people
Through stammering lips and a foreign tongue,

12He who said to them, “Here is rest, give rest to the weary,”
And, “Here is repose,” but they would not listen.

13So the word of the LORD to them will be,
“Order on order, order on order,
Line on line, line on line,
A little here, a little there,”
That they may go and stumble backward, be broken, snared and taken captive.

Judah Is Warned

14Therefore, hear the word of the LORD, O scoffers,
Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem,

15Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death,
And with Sheol we have made a pact.
The overwhelming scourge will not reach us when it passes by,
For we have made falsehood our refuge and we have concealed ourselves with deception.”

16Therefore thus says the Lord GOD,
“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone,
A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed.
He who believes in it will not be disturbed.

17“I will make justice the measuring line
And righteousness the level;
Then hail will sweep away the refuge of lies
And the waters will overflow the secret place.

18“Your covenant with death will be canceled,
And your pact with Sheol will not stand;
When the overwhelming scourge passes through,
Then you become its trampling place.

19“As often as it passes through, it will seize you;
For morning after morning it will pass through, anytime during the day or night,
And it will be sheer terror to understand what it means.”

20The bed is too short on which to stretch out,
And the blanket is too small to wrap oneself in.

21For the LORD will rise up as at Mount Perazim,
He will be stirred up as in the valley of Gibeon,
To do His task, His unusual task,
And to work His work, His extraordinary work.

22And now do not carry on as scoffers,
Or your fetters will be made stronger;
For I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts
Of decisive destruction on all the earth.

23Give ear and hear my voice,
Listen and hear my words.

24Does the farmer plow continually to plant seed?
Does he continually turn and harrow the ground?

25Does he not level its surface
And sow dill and scatter cummin
And plant wheat in rows,
Barley in its place and rye within its area?

26For his God instructs and teaches him properly.

27For dill is not threshed with a threshing sledge,
Nor is the cartwheel driven over cummin;
But dill is beaten out with a rod, and cummin with a club.

28Grain for bread is crushed,
Indeed, he does not continue to thresh it forever.
Because the wheel of his cart and his horses eventually damage it,
He does not thresh it longer.

29This also comes from the LORD of hosts,
Who has made His counsel wonderful and His wisdom great.

-

BABYLONIAN CAPTIVITY - GENTILE RULE OVER THEM.
JUDGMENT.

[JUST AS THE SPIRIT AT PENTECOST WAS A JUDGMENT AGAINST THE REBELS WHO COULDN'T HEAR AND A SIGN TO THOSE WHO BELIEVED, BUT FOR THE GOOD OF THE WHOLE WORLD. THE GOSPEL WENT OUT TO THE WORLD IN ALL LANGUAGES.]

11Indeed, He will speak to this people
Through stammering lips and a foreign tongue,

12He who said to them, “Here is rest, give rest to the weary,”
And, “Here is repose,” but they would not listen.

Ok, I'll start this out by saying I'm NOT a cessationist. I believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit 100%. Tounges, Prophecy, healing, discernement, wisdom, teaching. All of them. But I get sooooo AGGRAVATED when I see these people on t.v. who are claiming to speak in tounges when they start babbling a bunch of nonsense. shubadiyadomansula. That is NOT speaking in tounges is it?! Is it REALLY!?..It's a bunch of crap. There just mumbling nonsensical crap. When I think of speaking in tounges I think of the first pentecost of the church when the Holy Spirit came like FIRE on the men and they were totally overcame by the power and spoke in a heavenly language. I do not believe this was something conscience and controllable. I don't believe you can control tounges anymore then you can open your eyes when you sneeze. And to see these people babbling in the flesh makes me cringe. It looks foolish, and it just makes a mockery of the gifts.

Mark 16:17,18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. I can find this being done in the Acts period, but i can find nothing like this today. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. N ow when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do here them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. Acts 2:1-11. I repeat i can find this being done in the Acts period, but i would like to see any thing like this to day.

What you posted was actually very good and somewhat beautiful. I say Amen to all of those wonderful verses. All tongues is not gibberish as you suppose. There are many testimonies of people speaking with tongues and peoples native tongues being recognized today. Its a wonderful gift from the Lord Edward just as you described in your most wonderful post. Its not gone away....the Devil wish it was, oh how he wishes it was,but its not, believe me. If you ask the Lord for bread (Holy Spirit) will he give you a stone? (Demon Spirit). The bush still burns Edward.. The burning bush that Moses saw was a picture of the Church of Jesus Christ. The bush was a vine with branches and the bush itself was on fire but was not consumed. That's the Church of our Lord! Jesus said that He was the vine and we are the branches and on the day of Pentecost God set the bush on fire brother...and its been burning ever since! Praise God! Only Satan desires the flame of the Holy Ghost to be quenched...but how is that even possible?c lol! God bless you my beloved brother Edward..You mighty man of God!

If this is what is taking place, then clearly it's not gibberish, as I've said.
The rest is.

Oh Edward, you don't know the half..I personally know that some people fake it..now that would be the gibberish and the bablers. There is an ongoing joke among Pentcostols of people who do this. I personally knew a guy in high school who facked tongues to got out with a Pastors daughter..no kidding. So your not totally off base with your skepticism. Its these idiots (God bless them) that gives it a bad name, but you know what they say...for every fake there is a genuine article. Your a good man Edward, I can see you love God with a great passion, I wish you all the best Man of God..When we finally meet, there won't be a need for tongues anymore anyway...that will be in Christs Kingdom in His presence, don't be surprised if he knocks you down...LoL..just kidding. May God continue to bless you your family and your Church my brother!
