It is God who declares people to be saints not the Pope, it is a sin to pray to anyone other than God

Jesus Christ. Because He is my Savior and I need no one else to seek favor with God. Oh, sorry. Jesus is not considered a saint in the Roman Catholic church.

So then this is just for leisure then? You don't expect answers from the saints towards your prayers? This sounds so strange to me.

When i grew up, I never spoke to my dad. I always went next door and asked a neighbor
to go tell my dad........when i became an adult, i spoke to my dad for the first time and he said,
"who are you?"

Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

1Ti 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

To speak to the departed is tantamount to having a familiar spirit or being a medium, forbidden by our Maker. It is no where near the same as asking other members of the Body of Christ, the living that is, to pray with or for a person. The Word is clear on this.

I'm pretty sure that verse has to do with actual rituals to speak to the dead, not praying to a dead family member or a saint...

Why would you want to pray to a dead family member or to a saint? It's useless. They are dead.

Noplace does the bible suggest that we are to pray to the dead.

Why are people replying to a thread that obviously wasn't aimed at them, just to voice their negative opinions and make the person who started the thread feel like crap? It wasn't a "is praying to saints okay?" question. He didnt ask for an arguement. If you want one go somewhere else and start one.

Anyway, OFM, my favourite saints are Don Bosco, Mary Magdelene, Padre Pio, and Francis of Assisi, amongst others. :)

Dont expect much positivity in regard to Catholicism on this site, but dont be discouraged or downhearted by it either. My recommendation however would be to stick to chat and leave the forums alone, since they aren't a place for us Catholics to find support and similar opinions.

You thinking it or believing it doesn't make it truth. All it does is sow discord among Christians. If that's what you want, go ahead.

The question has been posed in this website. The name of this forum is "Christian Chat." As brethren in the Messiah, we are bound to share the enlightenment afforded each of us by the Holy Spirt.
We are bound to share with those of the Same spirit the teachings learned from the Word with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
No one who reads the Word front to back regularly can possibly believe in praying to any creature of our Maker, we are instructed to direct all prayer to our Father in the name of Jesus Christ.

Even great prophets were warned not to bow to the angels sent to them as messengers. Why? The angels forbade them declaring themselves to be servants of the Most High just as we are to be.

Their words, "Worship God." I pray you understand this, always in Jesus Christ, amen, or do you call Him Yeshua?

By no means is it what I think or believe it to be, but the written Word of God says otherwise. The 16th post here explains it for better than I can. Will you read?

The Lord God said though shal have no other God before me and this is the first commandment. I believe when we pray to anyone other than God, (trinity) we are puttiing others before Him thinking they have powers or rights that he does. So when Jesus died upon my behalf and when the Word says that now the Father sees me due to what Jesus has done and looks upon me as righteous, for he is the mediator, then why would i need anyone else to speak when i have the top man Himself? Iin other words,, God Himself loves me so much that He gave his son for me. he now sees me righteous through the cleansing of my sins and as such, i can go to the Father on my own in jesus name and speak to Him directly any time i need. Just as i do my father here on earth.. But only better as my Heavenly Father never fails me. What an awedome God we have! Thankyou my blessed Friend!

I don't understand why anyone would want to waste time praying to someone who doesn't deserve it..To be honest and blunt...There just men..Why waste your time praying to someone who was just as dependent on the grace and forgiveness we ALL need when you have direct access to the one who grants that through his sacrifice? How little can someone think of the sacrifice of Jesus?

Don't read this as an attack. Just understand, Christians pray to Jesus. Noone else. It's what makes us Christians. CHRISTians. Praying to anyone else is idoltry..Plain and simple..If you'd like we can go through the scriptures and disect this further. Your love and affection should be as ferocious for him and his is for you. Why in the world would we want to pray to ANYONE else. It's not ok.
