Often, God explains His propositions and ways to Eternal Life.

I am The Way, The Truth, The Life,
No man comes to the Father but by me - Jesus

Joshua 24:15 - Joshua was a 'major prophet,' so God specially (especially?) spoke through Joshua.

15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Seems to say we got a choice to serve God and good or Satan and whip, we've got a choice , our Sovereign gives us a choice?

What do you think?
Thoughts ?

Or, are you AFRAID to make your own choice :D

Noté: Can I please ask that everyone speak in Love their thoughts, imaginé the Love of God in you, and, the Holy Spirit exuding beautiful peace out of you, Christ sis and bros. What would Jesus do in conversation amid believers of different church doctrine, like Phillipans, Collossians, Corinthians, Thessalonians, Ephesians but who ALL believe in Jesus Christ, having died on the cross to defeat sin and give us eternal victory? Wouldn't He speak in Love? That would be His choice IF He were on Earth right now walking amongst us . I can picture that kind of wonderful world, I pray you can too. :)

Romans 8:7
English Standard Version (ESV)
7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot.

I believe we choose through our faith in Jesus Christ and that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17)

I love your heart towards people, God bless.

Can't disagree with that, beautiful scripture choice, pb . :)

Yes, milady, despite our doctrinal differences I've heard enough that we all believe in John 3:16 and that is what makes us one, unified, believers. All the other STUFF is extraneous, I know, I know, I will get flack for saying 'that.' Fine, just speak in Love. God is not a God of accusations, in fact, surely He cried when men would choose to arrest His Son on the spot when Jesus said, It is as you say' when confronted and asked if He was the Son of God. Amazing that it even had to come to pass but God is sovereign and, although, I believe firmly that God gives us free choice, there are big things in life that will cone to pass, like the end times and no one will be able to do anything to stop it. His will will be done . No stopping it, no way no how.

God will accomplish His will . No man, or woman, will stop any 'big' thing from happen, God's plan WILL be done, just as it has been done since the beginning of history to Christ to the present to the future to the very end. The bible prophecy of His Word will ALL come true, every last tittle.

God bless you, pb, for however the Lord leads you.

He is Lord, and, since this is a CHOICE thread (green, don't be so conceited :D ) , I will end with what will be the ultimate eye-hawking experience for ALL that think God is not real.

Sing with me....

He is Looooooord. He, is Loooooord. He has risen from the dead and He is Looooooord.
Every knee shall bow, every tongue conFESS, that Jesus CHRIST is Loooord. :) Romans 14:11
----
IF we confess our sins (this is a CHOICE, Christ sis and bros), He is faithful and just (CHOICE by God of validating circumstance) to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

I love discussions like these because even though there are usually more questions than answers, the answer shows how glorious God really is. :)

The answer to the question "God's will or man's free will?" is this: God's will is not nor has ever been threatened by the free will of man! While God does not will bad things to happen to us (those bad things generally occur due to bad seed in which we've sown, but not always) , God can take everything the enemy has done in your life and in an instance change your life in such a way that God uses all those bad things that happened to you as a means to rescue others from the same fate. No more bitterness or unforgiveness, no more pain... Just the love of God flowing in you and through you reaching out to others who have been through similar circumstances. That's the power of the God we serve, who can lift us up - far above those things the enemy has done in an attempt to destroy us.

The real question to be asked is are we willing to fully surrender both our hearts and our lives to the will of God that He might use for His glory? I can assure you that if you won't, God can and will find someone willing to. God is patient and always get's His way. :)

Re: God's will or freewill ? God give us the freedom to make our own choices in life

When God created Adam and Eve, he essentially struck a deal with them. He gave them free will, the ability to choose to serve him or go their own way. Out of an entire garden, there was only one tree that would cause them to defy God. One tree out of an entire garden. I think God reaaaally didn't want them to defy him. But alas they did. And ever since then we've been bumbling idiots.

Yes we have the ability to make our own choices, just as Adam and Eve did. But God has a few one-ups on us. He is all-knowing and all-powerful. The rebellion, as much as it upset him, did not take him by surprise. Even to this day, he already knows what sins we will commit and when. And he has set things into motion to have his will done despite of those things.

Now, I do believe we can hinder God's will by being disobedient. See, God works with us and through us and if we are not willing to obey, we could end up holding back the will of God. And while that's nothing God cannot overcome, he still works through us stubborn humans. It really is possible that God may intend to use a person to bring another to faith but that person does not obey, and because of that the person intended to be saved ends up with a hard so cold toward God that nobody else would be able to convince him otherwise.

Amen. Very well said. Saving faith is in Christ and in Christ alone. Not Calvinism or Arminiism, Cessationism or Continuationism, Catholicism or Protestantism. Saving faith resides in Christ's finished work on the cross and it's power to transform the lives of the who believe regardless of what we want to call ourselves.

I believe that Jesus' parable concerning the wheat and the tares is not about the world but about the church. I also believe that in just about every church regardless of denomination, you will find the truly saved mixed in amongst those who possess nothing more than dead religion. And, while I may not agree with a particular doctrine or denomination, there's always a chance that God has preserved Himself a remnant of sheep among the goats thus it is not my place to judge the people condemning the whole lot of them to hell but rather we are to expose the flaws in the doctrine that they hold to and pray that God shows up, that they might be humbled and receive truth.

Genesis 50:20

20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.

This was not a universal call or address. It was an address to God's covenant people.

Natural man is dead in trespasses and sins, he neither can nor want to "choose" that which is spiritually good and pleasing to God.

It is God who does the choosing in this regard, not man.

Rom.9

[6] Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
[7] Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
[8] That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
[9] For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.
[10] And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
[11] ( For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth; )
[12] It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
[13] As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
[14] What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
[15] For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
[16] So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

God gave us freewill. this is not popular to say in this modern world, but your actions have consequenses. God forgives sins, but the result of it can remain.the theif on the cross got to go with Christ, but he still was crucifed.

I'll let good ol' Whitefield speak:

Man is nothing: he hath a free will to go to hell, but none to go to heaven, till God worketh in him to will and to do his good pleasure. /

You dishonour God by denying election. You plainly make salvation depend not on God's free grace, but on man's free-will. George Whitefield
