Greetings zeroturbulence,

What do you think this scripture means? It is what Jesus said in Matthew 5:5

"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth."

(Mat: 5:5 NIV)
It means exactly what it says. The earth was designed for man and man for the earth. He was supposed to live on it forever in peace, happiness and in complete harmony with his environment and with the animals that were to share his home.

When Adam sinned, he took all that away. His sin created the need for a redeemer and a kingdom that would eventually bring God's original purpose back to square one. (Psalm 37:10, 11, 29)

God has chosen a specific number of humans (144,000) to rule with his son in heaven. (Rev 14:1-4) These make up the Kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for. It will rule mankind during the 1,000 years it will take to undo all the damage caused by rebellion, both in the spirit realm and in the earthly one.

The end result will be exactly what God purposed at the start....perfect humans living on a paradise earth forever under God's rulership. It's not a difficult concept if you understand what God had in mind in the first place.
It is not necessary for all Christians to go to heaven. Some will survive the great tribulation and will be joined later by those whom God remembers in the resurrection. (Rev 7:9,10,13,14; John 5:28, 29) They will all live on earth in fulfillment of Rev 21:3, 4. The rulership of the kingdom will bring rich blessings to the earth because it was always going to be faithful mankind's inheritance. :)

God’s purpose regarding the earth is made evident in the commission that he gave to the first human pair. (Genesis 1:28) The earth, which God entrusted to Adam and Eve, was to be an everlasting home for them and for their offspring.-Psalm 115:16.

To realize that marvelous prospect, they, as well as their offspring, must each accept Jehovah God, the Creator and Life-Giver, as their Sovereign and be willing to obey him. Jehovah left no room for doubt in this regard when he gave them only one command. (Genesis 2:16, 17) Doing so would be an expression of their gratitude for all that the heavenly Father had done for them.

Sadly, they willfully disobeyed by breaking the command that had been laid upon them, they in reality turned their back on the one who provided them with everything that they had. (Genesis 3:6) In so doing, they lost their beautiful Paradise home not only for themselves but also for their offspring. (Romans 5:12) However, this did not deter God’s purpose in creating the earth for a specific purpose. (Isaiah 45:18) Thus, the earth was created purposely for human habitation. Furthermore, it is God’s purpose for the earth to be an eternal home for mankind.-Psalm 104:5; 119:90.

Like Jesus, if we are mild-tempered, we will display meekness by doing Jehovah’s will and accepting his guidance. Mildness of temper will also be evident in the way we deal with fellow believers and others. Such meekness harmonizes with the apostle Paul’s counsel.-Read Romans 12:17-19; Titus 3:1, 2.

Luke 14:11: "For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted"

James 4:6: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble"

An example would be... a proud rich man -v- a humble homeless man. (Have a read of Luke 16:19-31, Lazarus and the rich man)

When we are born again, into the body of Christ, we inherit the Kingdom of God.

When you go through the godly sorrow which produces a genuine repentance experience you have been broken and are thus meek in spirit.

Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

All the following results from being broken on Jesus Christ.

Mat 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Mat 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Mat 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Mat 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Mat 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Godly sorrow brings you to a state of being poor in spirit, a state of mourning, meekness, hungering for righteousness, and purity.

2Co 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
2Co 7:11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Luk_20:18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

Jas 4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
Jas 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

When one is broken on Christ they can then receive with meekness the implanted word which will save their soul.

You are no longer resisting God.
