I'm wondering if smoking weed is a sinful act? I did some research and it turns out that smoking weed is far safer than drinking or smoking. Not even close to the damaging effects on the body. What does the bible say? Or what are your thoughts?

Smoking weed makes you stupid...

The bible is written a long time ago. Had it been written in these modern ages the laws would have been updated with.

Thou shalt not smoke weed.

Thou shalt not sit to long in front of computer because that may hurt your neck.

Thou shalt not download films, books, music or anything similar because that is as bad as stealing, even if you are only copying. Unless of course it is shareware then it is okay.

Thou should behave politely in chat rooms.

Thou should not drink wine and then drive a car, ride a horse or fly a plane or space shuttle.

Thou should go to the Orion star system, I made an awesome planet there for you to colonize.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
( 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 )

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
( 1 Corinthians 10:31 )

I will yes it is wrong for a christian to smoke weed. You may not find it in the bible. But i tell you that as a christian you should not smoke weed. It is important for us to represent Christ well where ever we find our selves.

The Bible says we are not to have any poisonous herbs and things like weed tobacco contain poisonous herbs.
Deuteronomy 29:18
(18) Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;

gall and wormwood: or, a poisonful herb, Heb. rosh

I don't think this is actually about herbs at all.

It's comparing poisonous people/ideas to poisonous roots (meaning that poison can spread).

Poisonous roots do not worship false gods.

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

From G5332; medication (“pharmacy”), that is, (by extension) magic (literal or figurative): - sorcery, witchcraft.

In ancient times (as well as now) drug use was always associated with the occult.

Taking medication for medical reasons is perfectly fine. Taking drugs just get high is not. If you down a whole bottle of cough syrup just to get a buzz, thats wrong. I would like to think I wouldnt have to explain that.

It doesn't "make you stupid" though there are some who are stupid and use it extremely irresponsibly it's not the herbs fault.

and I can understand the upset about smoking, but there are other ways to utilize it in food.

if its not against the law,i would think if it doesn"t alter your mind then it would be up to you,BUT for me weed is very mind altering.

Romans 14

1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, [but] not to doubtful disputations.
2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day [alike]. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth [it] unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard [it]. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11 For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in [his] brother's way.
14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that [there is] nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him [it is] unclean.
15 But if thy brother be grieved with [thy] meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18 For he that in these things serveth Christ [is] acceptable to God, and approved of men.
19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed [are] pure; but [it is] evil for that man who eateth with offence.
21 [It is] good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [any thing] whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
22 Hast thou faith? have [it] to thyself before God. Happy [is] he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because [he eateth] not of faith: for whatsoever [is] not of faith is sin.

Theoretically if it's legal where you live (which if I'm not mistaken it's not) it wouldn't be any worse than any other mind altering chemical people regularly ingest (alcohol being the most prominent). Which means moderation rules would apply.

I will answer your question with a counter question. Why do you need this earthly drug?

There should be no need for any supplements (ie. Masturbation, drugs, alcohol, and/or any feel good substance) to our lives. If i have Jesus, I need nothing else.

Grr, the edit timer got me again.

Why would you need any mind (or emotional) altering substance? Is God's peace not enough?

Now, I have different views of the legalization of it. It's a substance, that alters your mind and emotions, just like alcohol and medications (which a follower of Christ should not need [of course, if you're in great pain go ahead and medicate]). The legalization (and taxation) of it would give the government a significant amount of money. Which of course, would help pay off our debts.
