Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12v2 (ESV)

Where is your mind at? Something that has been really on me of late is how I think, the LORD has reminded me that part of how He saved me was that I was depressed and that I thought I wasn't worth a single little thing. But everyday we need to remind ourselves that Christ died for us to rescue us from our sinful lives.

How do we renew our minds though? we must study the word of God, but what do we study?? well we need to see what we are thinking about, are we always thinking angry and mean thoughts? study anger and or peace. The word is our medicine, when we are ill in sinful thinking, we need God's medicine for us! You wouldn't take painkillers if you burned you're hand would you?? so we need to be studying the word that is appropriate to our thinking in order to renew that! if you're thinking poverty and thinking nothing can come you're way, read prosperity scriptures, read Matthew 6 that God will meet every need we have and greater than He does for the flowers and the animals.

The washing of the water of the word is so important. We need the word to clean us. We need a love of the word like Psalm 119. Those who love the word love Jesus the Word.

I really thing you have something here. There are those who teach grace and those who teach repentance, those who teach love, even those who teach self-perseverance. That which occupies our mind is what we should study, but realizing at the same time, that we are only studying one part of a whole. As I have said, "As the Lord leads, so follow", and as that implies, whatever the Spirit leads you to study, then do it, just do not use your knowledge in condemnation of your fellow brothers.

Thank you for your post here.

It is so interesting that at the time the old and new testament was written, it was believed that it was the heart that produced thought, not the brain. When the bible was translated, the translators didn’t know that so sometimes when the scripture says heart, it means brain. We would need to know the meaning of the original word to know which was which. Does anyone know the original of Romans 12:2? In that verse it clearly is translated brain.

I just read that some doctor feels that the novels we read today has a profound influence on our culture, as people identify with the characters and it changes them more than they realize.

I also read that our subconscious mind controls us even more than our conscious mind. It is programmed through emotion, but also when we are in that dreamy state of being completely absorbed by what we are seeing, for instance in a television show. Our deep convictions protect us. Think of the influence television has on very young minds, busy absorbing the world around them.

How very important it is to fill our minds with the words of our Lord! Thanks for the post.

Well said very true. Something along the same lines that I heard recently. Rather than living and being your thoughts, step back from you own mind, and cultivate the observer within. Like when your mind starts running a pattern of habitual thinking, good or bad, then step back and look at your own mind and think "why is my mind running this pattern that I tend to often do". Is this serving me and God. Is this pattern from God?

what I mean by this is that we can actually step back from our body and our mind inside and "be the observer". The eternal spirit watching the mind and body. Like why is this mind thinking like this, or why is this body acting like that? And when you do that you can objectively reason over what this being called You is doing and why it's doing it. So rather than always thinking "I am these thoughts that go on in my head" or "I am this physical body". YOu can step back and realize that your'e not your body or your mind. What you are is an eternal spirit, formless, ageless, and timeless. And you can be a spirit having this thing called a human experience for a short time. Rather than always thinking your just a human with a spirit there somewhere within. You can become and tune into that spiritual being right now which is really what you are.

The other thing that dawned on my recently is I was driving around. And I had this weird and scary apiphany. I realized that I'm an eternal being. I'm already immortal. The keyword there is "already". Like death of my body, yippy skippy, that's nothing. But my spirit is there now and will always be there. And when that really sinks in it's kinda a scary thought. Just cuz eternity is such a long time. Therefore if we're gonna be in heaven forever that means it's got to be quit an interesting place to keep us that interested. As humans we tend to get pretty bored of this world within about 1 lifetime. And that compared to eternity isn't very long. Anyway just a weird thought I thought I'd pass on. God bless

I got this from listening to Joyce Meyer earlier today before work, and actually when I reflect on my session of work, almost if not all my thoughts were negative! I kept thinking about how much my boss aggravates me, how much this certain member of staff never ceases talking and rambling on about topics nobody is even sure of and blah blah blah! and it never occured to me the whole time that it was those thoughts there were affecting my emotions and my work ethic! its amazing when you can reflect and see how the word of God isnt just written theory, but it is practical action and a necessary one at that!

Well I think the issue lies in the fact that I am not seeing it as Ephesians 6v12 says

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places"(ESV)

I need to stop seeing it for what it looks like in the natural and begin to see it from the spiritual. The enemy wants me flustered and unpeaceful because then I cannot shine God's light into the placement, and I cannot reveal His love to others, as well as keeping me from having a victorious day. I think it has also shown me how deadly our thoughts are, they come into our heads and before we know it, we are wallowing in evil thoughts, we have become sick with stinking thinking, and slowly it poisons our emotions and our attitude and before we know it, we're going on a rampage and saying every vile word we can about and against them. I just feel that in today's society, we are a busy society, we have no time to just sit and think and reflect, we are constantly thinking and if you think about it we couldnt even recall EVERY thought we have had in a single day, because our minds are manic at work, so if we cannot renew our minds how can we even dream of ? because our thoughts affect our very emotions, our behaviour, our attitude. So I feel lead to start praying alot more about my thoughts, instead of my behaviour, because we often pray "Lord, help us not to give into sexual immorality" but we forgot to ask Him to protect our minds and thoughts, because it all begins with a bad thought.

Malcy,

You are very wise for your age. Indeed, as Christians, our warfare is spiritual, as we battle against principalities in high place for our souls. They lark to bounce upon the stray sheep. But though we might walk in the midst of death's shadow, we shall not fear the harmful things they might throw our way, because our Shepherd, with His rod and staff, leads us. Let your anger turn to love, knowing that perfect love throws out not only fear, but anger as well.

Good thread, it reminds me of Philippians 4:8 ~ Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

"If your thinking poverty"

Remember this:

23Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. 24And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 25When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? 26But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible

We walk in this world of temptation to inherit eternal life with Yahvah God and Yahshua the Messiah.

Let us Pray for the strength to be satisfied with what we have each day.

For none of us know how long we abide here for.

If it be your last day, praying not to fall into temptation is of more benefit than a pay rise.

Yeshua the Messiah gave us the Lord's prayer that says give us this day our daily bread, it does not say give us this day a years amount of bread.

Better to live humbly with gratitude and inherit eternal life.

Flesh and money will burn, be of your spirit and glorify Yahvah God forever.

Loveme1 - there is a difference between being humble and poverty - Poverty is to have lack and to not have even the most basic of needs met! To be humble you at the MINIMUM have all you're basic needs. Remember David's prayer to the LORD "I will not want", he didn't say "I shouldn't want" or "I won't want", but he is saying because he trusted in the LORD every want he could have was met in Him. Its like the whole point of the saying "money is the root of all evil" no in fact scripture tells us "the LOVE of money is the root of all evil". I mean thats like saying, if I gain the job as a doctor, that because my job has high earnings then I cannot inherit salvation, not at all! God has given to each of us a calling and whether that calling be highly paid or not we are called to it! HOWEVER, if you are highly paid, you should be very generous in you're giving.

Thanks :) My wisdom comes from God alone, and I'll be honest, most of my wisdom has came from going through the trials and tribulations because for me personally, and the LORD knows us personally and I believe will teach us in our personal ways, I personally learn very well through doing and through practical examples, so although I have received wisdom from reading and studying along, normally what I study remains head knowledge until I can walk it out and see it manifest in my life. *shrugs* thats just me though :) and God knows me better than I do, its so exciting to know that lol, that even my own self is a mystery to me, yet God knows every crevice and every nook in us, the areas where we have never ventured in our selves and every talent unknown. How wonderful and wise is He?! Stirring myself up thinking about that ha!
