Dr. David R. Reagan (the Founder and Director of Lamb & Lion Ministries) recently did a great job of pointing out some of the Pope’s theological errors.
For example, Pope Francis said, “If Martians were to land on earth tomorrow, I would be happy to baptize them.” Martians should not be baptized unless they accept Jesus.
Pope Francis said, “Atheists who do good are redeemed, not just Catholics.” No one can be saved by doing good, not atheists, not Catholics, not Martians or anyone else.
Pope Francis said, “The Big Bang Theory does not contradict the role of God as divine Creator.” The Bible says God spoke this world into existence in six days. That contradicts a massive explosion in one day.
Pope Francis said, “If someone is gay and is searching for the Lord and has good will, then who am I to judge him?” God said the gay lifestyle is an abomination and the Pope has the responsibility to know it and tell it like it is.
Pope Francis said, “God is not a divine being or a magician.” God is a divine being who works miracles.
Since Dr. Reagan’s great article, Pope Francis has recognized the State of Palestine. This is a major theological error. Pope Francis can recognize the division of Israel, but according to the Bible God won’t recognize it.
Having said this, Revelation chapter 13 teaches that two beasts (the Antichrist and the False Prophet) will rise to power during the Tribulation period. The Antichrist (a global political leader) will receive his power from Satan (Rev. 13:2, 4). The False Prophet (a global religious leader) will speak like Satan (Rev. 13:11).
These two beasts (world leaders) will have a common goal that will come from Satan (Rev.17:7). They will work together to establish a world government and a false religion (Rev.13:7-8).
Some believe the false religion will be located in the city of Rome (where the Roman Catholic Church is) and others believe it will be located in the rebuilt city of Babylon (Rev. 17:5, 9). For awhile, the Antichrist and False Prophet will share a political alliance with global leaders (Ten Kings), but that won’t last (Rev. 17:12-13; 16). Put another way, the False Prophet will abandon true worship and establish a political alliance with world leaders.
This brings us to the Papal Encyclical that Pope Francis released on June 18, 2015. Some call it a political document because Pope Francis wants political leaders to reduce the world’s population, regulate global climate change, establish a global constitution, establish a global court, establish a global council (could this be 10 kings) and establish a one-world government.
Pope Francis condemned global greenhouse gas emissions, but some hoped he would condemn Islamic terrorism and the persecution of Christians. He wrote about our “sister” Mother Earth, but some hoped he would write about our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
He wrote about stamping out the coal industry, but some hoped he would write about stamping out abortion and gay marriage. He wrote about the rise of sea levels, but some hoped he would write about the rise of lawlessness in the world and in the White House. It was said that Pope Francis was speaking to the world, but his encyclical sounded more like he was speaking for the world instead of for God.

God wants us to be Baptized mwc68, but Baptism is NOT required to receive Salvation!
Ephesians 2:8-9

Where in this verse or any other verse that says we receive Salvation by Faith, Grace, and Baptism?
Baptism is a sign that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and therefore we receive Baptism to show others that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. This is why John the Baptist said to be Baptized.
You error in your thinking mwc68 because you spend too much time listening to what the Popes teach in the Catholic Church and not enough time studying the Scriptures with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
If you would just change your focus from the Catholic Church to God you will know then the Truths in the Scriptures.

I don't know about working off sin, yet scripture suggests a cleansing fire.
2 Samuel 12 :13-15 says that even though you are saved, certain sin still requires punishment.
Matthew 5:48 says you must be perfect as God is perfect
Hebrews 12:23 Paul addresses SPIRITS who have been MADE perfect. How are SPIRITS made perfect?
1 Peter 1:7 Suggests there is a cleansing fire
Matthew 12:31-32 says there are sins ONLY forgiven in CERTAIN ages
