Many people say masturbation and pornography is a sin. but they don't explain why?

Matthew 5:27
"You have heard that the law of Moses says, 'Do not commit adultery.'
But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust in his eye has already
committed adultery with her in his heart."

God gave us this example to know that it's important not what we do but what is in our hearts. When we sin we brake God's commandments in our hearts first. It's the same as if you would try to steal something and you got caught for it. Even though you didn't steal anything you just tried to, you will still get a punishment for that. When you try to make a sin you are ignoring God's commandments even though you know you are doing wrong but you still do it.

But what about imagination it's not the same as plan to do something? You can imagine that you are stilling but in your heart you know you will never do it. If you imagine you are rich it doesn't make you rich.
In this verse God uses word Lust. Definition of “Lust” - A strong or uncontrollable sexual desire. But what if you look at a woman and you imagine that you having sex with her but in you heart you know you will never have sex with her in the real life, it's just your imaginations. You don't brake the rule “Do not commit adultery” then?
And what about pornography you look at pictures not women, and pictures it's not the same as women. Pictures it's just part of your imagination. You can't look at a woman with lust if you know you will never have sex with her. So that's why I think masturbation and pornography it's not a sin it's just part of imagination. What do you think?

I would have to disagree... i used to be addicted to porn.
the devil can really use your imagination and turn it for evil..
when you look at porn or even think about having sex or just messing
around with someone, even tho the possibility of that happening is slim,
that is still a sin because you are feeding your flesh
and following the worlds ways instead of gods, which is maintaining purity.

the rest of that verse says this:

"If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell."

I disagree.

That passage doesn't really look like it can be misinterpreted. My simple understanding is:

"Don't sleep with someone you're not married with. Don't even look at someone and imagine sleeping with them. Committing one is as bad as committing both."

Lust is a feeling. I would argue that lust generally occurs when you desire to be intimate with someone you can't or are not allowed to. I think the sin there is that because you're thinking of it, you may be tempted or compelled to achieve the goal of your lust.

Even with pornography; you can't guarantee the woman you're staring at in the centrefold, kindly posing for you while you rub one out, isn't married. What if she is? She is committing a sin by enticing you to sin. You are sinning because you're lusting over a married lady. If she ain't married, then she ain't married. Which also means she's not married to YOU.

So, splitting hairs maybe, I don't believe masturbation is a sin. As long as you're married to the one you're thinking of. If not, notch up another sin point for yourself and remember to clean up after yourself.

If your right hand offends you cut it off. It is better that one member of the body should be cast away than the whole body go to hell

Specifically, Jesus was addressing the situation of married men lusting after other men's wives. They thought it was ok to lust and that lust was simply temptation to sin rather than sin itself. But Jesus addressed the matter of the heart which was the main problem with them. I can imagine that might have been a strong temptation with the times, arranged marriages, people getting married young in their teens etc, the culture at the time. Imagine getting married to an average woman in your teens and being drawn to more attractive ones as you got older. I figured that was the kind of problem they were in. Plus the fact they were plain evil and rejected God's commands. But that's why Christ died for them.

The bible is silent on the issue of pornography specifically.
At the very least pornography is temptation, and we are to stay away from every appearance of evil. At the very worse, pornography is equivalent to visiting a prostitute! So it would come under the category of prostitution (and fornication) rather than adultery specifically. Porn is the writing of prostitutes. It is equivalent to visiting a prostitute. If visiting a prostitute in person is equivalent to becoming one flesh with her, then visiting a prostitute in your mind is equivalent to becoming one mind with her. I can't say which one is worse. Probably the physical act, as it involves both mind and body. But that doesn't excuse pornography. Besides the verses speaking against lust and sexual immorality, pornography would be ruled out as acceptable for the Christian simply because of all the verses which say to fill the mind with good and noble things. Now we've looked at what the bible says (generally), let's look at pornography from a practical point of view.

kos, pornography is of the devil because women , and men are basically enslaved to what they do, for money or even just sex addicts themselves. Perhaps you have not noticed satanic and occult symbols tattooed onto their bodies? Perhaps you have not noticed the foul language they use, swearing and all, and also taking God's name in vain?

Maybe if you see behind the scenes how the women shoot up on drugs or throw up after having sex with dirty men who don't shower you might think porn isn't so good afterall. Perhaps you haven't noticed the way women and or men are thrown around like sex objects and pieces of meat and told what to do by the video producer. Everyone involved in porn shoots have IQ's of less than 20, they're pretty dumb.

You know, you should get bored with pornography, there's only so much they can do and show you. Sex is a very simple thing really, there's only so much they can do and they've figured out how to do most disgusting things they can think of LOL. It's nothing that modern, exciting or new either, pornography has been around for ages, prostitution has been around for centuaries.
Porn has led to the breakup of countless marriages. Pedophiles watch porn, so do rapists.
Think about these things, and then try and convince us that pornography is somehow OK?

Finally I highly recommend you read through the resources on this website, I think they're pretty good:
So what

I disagree as well. First, our actions are just as important as our thoughts-God looks at both of them. People who do not want to take responsibility for their actions use the saying "God only looks at your heart". Secondly, when a man looks at a woman (outside his matrimonial home) and lusts after her he has committed adultery AT HEART and vice versa therefore he has broken the commandment of "Thou shalt not commit adultery". Lastly, masturbation is a sin because it begins by having impure thoughts and as I previously stated, God examines our hearts. Your body is the temple of God so keep it holy.

Why is it a sin?

You are using another person for your own sexual gratification.
Looking at people as objects for yourself is wrong.
You a stripping them of their God-given dignity.
(no pun intended)

So - YES both are sins.

quick advise:
Pray for the desire to treat women with the respect and dignity they deserve.
Look at ALL women as you would your own sister or mother.

God Bless

The spriture you quot is about worshiping other God's/a false religioun, not about Carnal marriage.

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

We are to be lead by the spirit in these matters.Carnal marriage.Paul was lead by the spirit in the later apistals about carnal marriage and how We should try and live as he but if we cant control ourselfs it is better to marry the to burn with lust.

Read threw proverb a few times it talks about a woman. When you can understand who the woman is you will start to understand what Jesus is talking about.

Men and woman are not given in marriage in heaven.
Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

The final ingredient to all increase is of coarse God

Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

Jesus warns us about the tares;
Jesus answered, He it is, to whom I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.

Ask God to help you in these matters>He created us>he knows whats going on>He made woman for man.

I believe that both porn and masturbation are sins. I have been taught that any God given desire taken out of context of what it was originally intended for like sex, eating and worship is what the Bible refers to when talked about our lusts. Remember, God gave us the sex drive, (intended for a wife and her husband). God gave us the desire to eat and enjoy food for the sake of nutrition and strengthening our bodies. God also gave us the desire to Worship intended for the sole purpose of glorifying Him not ourselves or anything else for that matter, please read Romans 1:18-32. When we use porn or masturbation as a means of self satisfaction, to take it a step further, we are using our members in a way that they where not originally intended for. A mans body is for his wife and the woman's body is for her husband, 1 Corinthians 7:3-4. If I use my body for anything else besides this purpose, I'm taking the place of God in deciding what my body will be used for, when the Bible has determined that already.
I have often heard masturbation compared to self worship and idolatry. When a single or married man or women for that matter take and indulge in this behavior (either looking at porn or doing porn) it first promotes self and the idea that I know better then God which is definitely sin. 1 Samuel 15:23a
As for the Matthew 5:27 verse, I would also like to cross reference it with James 1:13-18.

Thanks and God bless

looks like you will have to go somewhere else with your itchy ears, not going to find the approval you seek in here. would you want a pastor right before he got up to preach to be in his office on the web veiwing porn sites then get up to preach looking on your mother or your wife with these same thoughts on His mind. if it would not be good for him to do this then how could it be good for you to witness to someone while you imagine you are making love to her, and you know yourself if you imagine doing it with pictures you imagine doing it with real women you see also, and that would be possible to make love with a real person. and if you are witnessing to a woman while thinking about getting her into bed , you tell me where is your heart, for her lost soul or for your sexual pleasures ??????? you can't have two masters, desire that souls get saved or desire that you see them naked , you make the call, it's your life!!

My vote is that yes it is a sin

The Bible is NOT silent on looking at the nakedness (porn) or other people!
Looking upon the nakedness of another person that is not one's spouse brings a curse. Of course medical issues are exempt:
21He drank of the wine and became drunk, and uncovered himself inside his tent.

22Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside.
23But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it upon both their shoulders and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were turned away, so that they did not see their father's nakedness.
24When Noah awoke from his wine, he knew what his youngest son had done to him.
25So he said,
"Cursed be Canaan;
A servant of servants
He shall be to his brothers." 26He also said,
"Blessed be the LORD,
The God of Shem;
And let Canaan be his servant.
27"May God enlarge Japheth,
And let him dwell in the tents of Shem;
And let Canaan be his servant."

I believe these are not just sins, but grave sins. In Matthew chapter 5, the Lord says be perfect. I don't believe every sin has to be spelled out in the Bible for it to be a sin. But the Bible does say no pervert will enter the kingdom of Heaven. Take my word for it, not everyone struggles with these sins, which proves that they can be overcome. It does not need to be a constant struggle if your truly on the straight and narrow.

Thanks for all your comments.
Is there anyone who has never mastrubated or had sex?
Or at least has not mastrubated or had sex for many years?
Also, not everyone has an opportunity to marry. Some people can't marry because of health problems or other problems. So, What God tells to this people? It seems unfair, some people have an opportunity to marry and some people not. Bible treat everyone the same, like everyone has the same opportunities.

I can say in all humility, I do not struggle with either sin, but only by God's grace. It would be impossible to resist without God's help because these urges are based on the biochemical processes within us, a natural part of the human condition. I generally do not even have the temptation as I preoccupy myself with other things, and the best thing to preoccupy yourself self with is the Lord. In terms of marriage, I think someone who is not able to be married for one reason or another can take comfort in the fact that our Lord did not marry, neither did Saint Paul. In fact, scripture repeats over and over again how it would be for the best to not get married and to be Holy (Holy means "set apart") to the Lord, and that you should get married if you cannot contain the passion inside of you. Remember, every sacrifice made for the Lord WILL be rewarded.

no what is unfair is that Jesus the perfect Lamb had to die for such a worm as I, but He did it so now I try my best to 2co 5:14For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:2co 5:15And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.2co 5:16Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.2co 5:17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
He died that I might live, so Now I live not for myself and what is fair for me But I die to self That He might live through me.

Pornography is very bad for you and for anyone watching it.It feeds the flesh and leaves a imprint in your mind. The flesh is never satisfied it always wants more and is very selfish. It leads to questioning moral values about sexual actions towards one another.

I erge you to stop porn.Very bad for you.

Dont be discouraged if you fail at first keep praying and trying and God permitting he will ween you off it
