How great is your/our God?

Chris Tomlin sings a great, box-office, popular song , can you think of your own words,or use some of our holy, inspired words given by Paul, Moses, and, the like, in the Bible?

Songs, too, maybe some song(s) gives ear to description that caught your mind's eye and can be given to the rest of us.

One of my favorite ways of understanding God controls all is the verse before my listed verse in my profile, and, I believe God reiterates this verse to Job too, the very FIRST things that cime out of God's mouth when He tires of listening to Job' friend speak unTruth.

He has All things , the whole world (did I say 'universe,' in His hands) .

Ah, indeed, Jesus wept, why? Maybe the answer is: How great is our God . :)

This song makes me smile. To me it reminds me of too little girls on the play yard fighting, "My daddy can beat up your daddy."

That IS an interesting way of putting it, Jord, LOL.

But, yeah, God can beat up (but won't) your dad.

How great is our God, who became like us, but died unlike ANY of us, so we could one day after we shed this earthly shell be able to go live forever and ever with Him, in bliss, instead of in blisters, IF we so choose Him.

That IS pretty 'great,' isn't it ????

I was living in Thailand married to my Thai wife. She was involved in a car accident. The police impounded her car. This caused a lot of stress. She lived 1 hours drive from work, TDK a Japanese company in Thailand. Without a car she had to wake up very early in the morning to catch connecting buses to the company bus. Additionally she had to downgrade her pay as she attended university in the city and now needed to leave work early in the afternoon to arrive at university for lectures. She had on two occasions paid bribes to the police. Bribes are an accepted, necessary, way of conducting business. Weeks went by.My wife's mother had a shop in a large market and questions were asked. Someone had a cousin who was a chauffeur to a high ranking policeman in Bangkok. The question was asked and my wife received a phone call on a Thursday night. The issue was very serious and she would probably go to jail. My wife was devastated. This was a minor accident and she was not fully responsible. My wife (now ex) is and was a Buddhist. I asked her if she would pray to Jesus. So we both knelt down beside the bed and I prayed. On Friday , the next day, she came home with the car. The police were very scared of her. Police in Thailand are quite arrogant. These guys released prisoners to wash and clean her car. Had a garage re-open to inspect and give her car a mechanical pass. Personally pushed her car so it would start. Flat battery. Tried to give her back her bribes. Pleaded with her not to be angry with them. Confessed that they were the wrong police as the accident did not happen in their area of jurisdiction. Phoned and cleared the matter with the police who should have been controlling the incident. My wife had to face a court and paid a small traffic fine.
My God is in every sense Almighty

How great is our God? I'm very glad that I saw this post, because I was feeling a bit down today. Then you reminded me how much God cares for us and how richly He blesses His children. Even in times of struggling, I will still tell you with a big smile on my face, just how great our God is!

One song that I really like that shows the greatness of God is "Before the Throne of God Above."

"Behold Him there, the risen Lamb.
My perfect, spotless righteousness.
The great unchangeable I AM.
The King of glory and of grace.
One with Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood.
My life is hid with Christ on high.
With Christ my Savior and my God.
With Christ my Savior and my God."

For me, those lyrics show Truth, grace, and redemption, delves into the heart of the Gospel, and shows the incredible greatness of a God who shows a love that my heart cannot fully understand. Whenever I hear this part of the song, I always imagine a bride walking to her groom. She walks confidently to him, knowing who he is, knowing he will always love her. She does not hide he face, because she knows that she is pure and perfect in her husbands eyes. (Not sure if that is weird imagery for that song, but that's what always pops up in my mind.)

"I will not boast in anything.
No gifts, no power, no wisdom.
But I will boast in Jesus Christ--
His death and resurrection."
(How Deep the Father's Love For Us)

Why should we be prideful about ourselves and our own accomplishments? These things are surely nothing to boast about, because it is not by our own efforts that we have been united with God again. It is JESUS!

We worship an awesome God.

Years ago in the Rocky Mountains there was a young man named Yellow Hair. He preached the Word of God when he was not simply reading it and praying off somewhere in the woods. There was another young man and his family who loved to camp, hike and climb in the area. Yellow Hair would talk with him and his friends about the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, but he stressed how many folks have more or less left out the Holy Spirit in teaching the Word.
One day the friend was on an excursion, late on a Friday, going up the easy side of Long's Peak. There were lots of other folks doing the same when it began to rain, and it rained enough to where all the hikers pitched their tents and stayed in them overnight. Early the following morning with just enough light of morning to see, while yet in his tent he heard someone talking about the love of God, Jesus and the working of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers. He was certain it was Yellow Hair. Hurriedly he put himself together and came out of the tent asking people if they had seen someone with yellow hair carrying a blue Bible. They all said yes he went on up the mountain. There is only one way up the mountain on the easy up side, and it stops atop to an almost shear drop. There was no one to be found, no one encountered, the person had simply disappeared.
When the young man made it back to where he camped and near Yellow Hair's camp 50 miles away from Longs Peak, he looked for him and found him and asked him what he had been doing Friday night, actually he was most curious about Saturday morning. Yellow Hair replied he had been at his own campsite all that night, but that something wonderful had occurred. He continued, I have never experienced this before, but all night long I slept in what I can only call the love and warmth of the Holy Spirit. This had never happened to this person before.
If he was in two places at one time, it was the Lord's doing. Praise Yahweh, amen.........

God is so great, in His great longsuffering, but for those in the lie, He is waiting for you to repent and seek His mercy, dont think Gods blessings are Him winking at sin and disobedience,His word says otherwise!

Blessings or God’s Longsuffering!

1Pe 3:12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

The word of God clearly states in 1 John 3-7, that those who do what is right are righteous, He never says as perfect as He is or His spotless son, but does make a distinct contrast between those who are righteous and those who are evil and wicked.
He watches over His sheep, who have come to Him as He commands, not confessing, receiving and trusting, but in repentance, and faith proven by deeds, where the sin stops before mercy can even begin to be given, He is longsuffering, wanting all to come to repentance, but for those who think they can remain double minded, serving two masters, living in sin and loving the world and all its vain attractions are kidding themselves.
Those in prosperity, living a charmed life, thinking God is blessing them, are also being deceived, as either you have come to Him in repentance and faith as the city of Nineveh did, and are walking a righteous life, free from the bondage's of sin and worldliness, or you are still in your sins and disobedience, thinking all is well, when it is not!
When God sees us, He doesn't see the righteousness of Jesus in us; He sees our heart, which is either made pure through faith (obedience) or evil and still in bondage to sin. God has nothing for the double minded, and is no respecter of persons, but He does reach out to us, if we come to Him in brokenness and repentance, crucifying our flesh with Him in reality, Gal 2-20.
I was told you could be lukewarm and be in the will of God, as He overlooks our sins against Him, once we accept Jesus as our savior, then the blessings and answered prayers will come, and all the prosperity, and excess I built up in my life, was not considered idolatry, but a blessing because Gods favor was upon me.
I accepted the package the churches are selling, come as you are, they would say, get saved in your sins and double minded state, and then Jesus will clean you up later.
I loved my occasional pet sins of porn watching, vile TV shows, drunkenness, and pride in my possessions etc...They told me I was blessed, Gods hand is upon my life now, I received the deal of a lifetime, you do nothing, Jesus did it all, and you just sit back and enjoy the ride along with all the other poor sinners, saved by grace alone, faith alone, which as I soon found out wasn't in the word of God.
God's eyes and ears are open to the righteous ones who do what is right by faith, by a heart made pure through repentance, as described in 2 Cor 7-10-11.
God was asking me to do this:
Jas 1:21 Therefore putting aside all filthiness and overflowing of evil, receive in meekness the implanted Word, which is able to save your souls.
Jas 1:22 But become doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Until I did, and came out of the system of lies, God had nothing for me, as He waited patiently for me to wake up from my slumber, and seek His mercy as the prodigal son did!
Tommy 7-19-12
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slow concerning His promise, as some count slowness, but is long-suffering toward us, not purposing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Blessed am I, to behold Him, to serve Him, to love Him. Who is like Him my Lord, my strength and my redeemer, your countenance is radiant as molten gold, yea as much fine gold. Thy purity is the spring sweeping the hills, valleys, and plains. With the promise of summer fullness, Your voice is the resonance of all creation singing praises to the Father. Your eyes send forth, streams of life, joy, and holiness. From the unfathomable depths of God, You speak and the creation trembles, in glad anticipation, responding in harmony. Your heart, who has known or shared it? Can a trembling leaf know the roots of your goodness? Thank You Lord Jesus, our Christ.

Christ's awesome power feeding into our life we MUST choose, T4C, yes, you said powering thought, for man (and woman) left to his own devices, is wicked in heart, no good in we imperfects, but for through Christ we can/have been made clean and sanctified, holy we ye be, as is He, at least we must strive (in His way) for His perfect perfection strengthedly petfected in us as only He make ye be able :)

Indeed, indeed, by His stripes, we have awesomely, yes, awesomely been completely acquitted of the fore conviction that had our unsaved souls straight-tracked to the very real place, John, not to mention, Jesus, spoke so lucidly of, like Matt. 25 and pick a book from Revelation 10-20, just about.

That place where God awesomely CAN (and will) keep you from going IF you believe in His lower truly, as OFM, says, 'allways' IS working in your awesome life walking and living, YOU, in Him, being blessed, blessrd, blessed beyond......

Imagination of His desires for your life will only be held back by your delighting in things that speak glorily awesome of God in your life.

Praise be ye, Jesus, my God, you are perfect, I ptay, Lord Jesus Christ Spirit that I can be living pleasingly, in all I say and do, for You, You, You .

And, that, my Christ peeps, is my given excellance of reverent thought for how greatly and awesomely I can describe His way of having my heart, great, awesomely so, always. I pray, He has yours, too , so great is our God :)

===

Awesome, great stories and description, too, Christ peeps, of our God's greatness. :)

Psalm 24
24 The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?

4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

9 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

One of my favorite hymns. When my third daughter was a baby, she liked for me to sing her that song, and "The Church's One Foundation" while I rocked her to sleep. Kids, huh? ;)

And thanks for quoting one of my favorite psalms, too. Definitely in my "top ten". :)
That, after the first psalm, was the first psalm we had our kiddos commit to memory.
(and yes, I said it that way just to be confusing.) :p

But, truly, thank you! I always feel so happy after I read Psalm 24!! I guess that's how great God is. :)

God created all the earth and all in it. He created the way the world operates, things that scientists have worked for years to understand. He created us, and has a way for each person He created to live with Him forever, even though He is Holy and we know sin.

Love is in all of His creation. As we accept and reflect that love we have the abundance and happiness that is God’s will for us. God is love. God is all in all. God is infinite.

I thank God that He allows me to give my life to Him, that He includes me in His family so God is my Father.

for me the scripture that begins the understanding of how great God is?

"Be still, and know that I am God!"

Because it is not in the multitude of things we know or do, but in the stillness of the soul, that one sees a glimce of the infinte greatness of God !
For in this stillness, where peace begins, His greatness holds our mind and His love embraces our heart.

God bless

Oh , where to start?

He is God, He needs nothing and no one, yet he made me ! I mean, considering how I sometimes act it's strange he doesn't feel the same way about me that I do about insects that keep hoovering around my head.

He could also have made just the earth, to keep us and the animals here, but no, He made the immense universe too. I wonder if He did it because He could, or to give us something to be curious about, or both.

Video won't post, but I think both "Who am I" and "Revalation song" are good for explaining how great God is
