God's person has One Spirit only called the Holy Spirit.

There are not literally seven spirits of God's Person.

This is to be understood as either 7 angels, or the seven aspects or eyes (Zec 3:9) of God's Spirit which symbolises God's perfect knowledge, foresight of future events, perfect wisdom, and perfection in all the events which are to take place revealed in Revelation.

The Ethiopic version reads in the singular number, "and this is the Spirit of God which is sent into all the earth"

One Spirit, with 7 attributes. "spirit of" , is in the sense, eg "spirit of wisdom" etc. It does not refer to the Spirit's person, who is and was and will only ever be One God, but to the Spirit's functions in 7 ways.

Very good explanation, thank you very much.

the seven spirirts of God- through the Holy Spirit. (ONE SPIRIRT.. 7 'offices' so to say)
1. The Spirirt of the LORD
2. The Spirirt of wisdom.
3. The Spirirt of understanding.
4. The Spirirt of counsel.
5. The Spirirt might.
6. The Spirirt of knowledge.
7. The Spirirt of fear of the LORD.

'For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day'. (Zec. 3:9).

The Hebrew word for eyes (ayin) can also be translated as facets.
So the stone has seven facets. That is speaking of God's Word. Both the Spirirt and the Word are 7-fold. Sense the Word and the Spirirt go hand and hand, you can't understand the Word without the Spirirt.
7-Fold is the best way to put it.

MaggieMye makes a very valid point. 2 Peter 1:19-21 says that no prophecy is of any private interpretation. Revelation says plainly that there are seven sprits. If there is no private interpretation, than one must look at the meaning of each word. This process will more than likely carry U into other languages. We are definitely in the time Revelation, which means that these prophecies are being fulfilled as we speak. Also, having said that, in other non-prophetic scriptures, The Word of God teaches of One spirit(body) which has many attributes(members). Anything that is OF God, & so doing His Will, is a member of His body.

I feel like the wrong question might be being asked here?

When some are saying God has seven spirits, some may interpret that to mean, the Godhead has seven spirits within it. I think this interpretation is wrong. We clearly see that the Godhead is composed of Father Son and Holy Spirit.

So what does it mean for God to have seven spirits?

I think it's really simple.

If I say, still waters has ten horses and then someone points to them out in the field and says, "There are the ten horses of still_waters." They're not saying, "still waters personality is made up of ten horses." They're just saying, "Those ten horses belong and work for still_waters, hence they are the ten horses of still_waters."

I think the same can be said for the seven spirits of God. I don't think we can over complicate the already complicated God head by attributing seven more spirits to it.

These are simply seven spirits 'working for God' if we might say, and they belong to Him. Hence they are the seven spirits 'of' God. Just like the ten horses 'of' still_waters.

Entirely wrong and opens oneself up to demons pretending to be those 6 other "holy spirits".

One church I was in the pastors wife used to sing "Holy Spirits" (plural), and i never quite understood why until I saw the verse in revelations. "come Holy Spirits", instead of "come Holy Spirit", can be quite dangerous.

I say one spirit.

God is a Trinity. He is one God in three persons. Neither person has anything that the other does not. They are distinct persons, yet they are one indivisible Godhead. As they share one divinity and are one divinity, so they are one spirit.

If there were more than one spirit, I would assume then that there would be more than one being.

But, there is only one God: one being, one spirit. Last time I ever heard of a single being containing more than one spirit, that being was considered to be possessed by demons. God has a spirit. He has one spirit. The Holy Spirit is God. The Father is God. The Son is God. 3 persons: 1 God: 1 being: 1 spirit.

1 spirit different functions/offices.

I could be the treasurer for my local works union, church, sports club, boat club, chamber of commerce, scouts, dance club. Now that is 7 functions I might have but I am still one, I may be treasuerer in all these organizations but I will still only be 1 person.

This thread is moving dangerously close to heretical notions.

Its not very often I would agree with RC, but I agree with you here suaso.
