The word 'assuredly' in scripture? How many times does Jesus use 'today' same sentenc

Let's start with 'the verse.'

'Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in paradise.'

'Course, what we want to know is how many other verses, besides this one with Jesus assuring thief that AS SOON AS THIEF DIED he would be with Jesus in paradise.

When Jesus died , He went to the center of the earth, which is where He preached to the spirits , scripture says. So, this makes sense that Jesus took the thief with him THERE immediately after Jesus died on the cross.

Ok, so, some like to say the comma is in the wrong spot, but this seems so unlike Jesus to just say word 'today' in such a trivial way, so, look at scripture now and put out there 'assuredly' verses.

I will start.....

Mark 9 : ”Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power.

Mark 10:29 - Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel's.”

I don't see the word 'today' present in these verses.

Use a concordance?

By the way: where it says "assuredly" in the translation, Jesus actually uses the (arameic) word "Amen," in the original greek version.

And no, "Amen" isn't greek, it's arameic, eventhough it appears in the greek new testament. As you may know Jesus talked arameic, which is a later version of the hebrew, and some of his arameic words ended up in the greek new testament. "Amen" doesn't mean "thank you," it means something like "it is so."

the thief on the cross is an example of understanding. he declared himself guilty and deserving of punishment. he declared Jesus innocent and not deserving of punishment. he then asked Jesus to remember him when Jesus came into his kingdom. this showed he believed Jesus was the Son of God. confession and belief exemplified. Jesus turned to him and said today you will be with me in paradise. he is the only person Jesus told directly, you are coming with me, now. read those gospels again and see if any came forward to defend the innocence of Jesus, other than this thief who was dying right next to him. the thief was the first to be crucified with Christ. the standard he set in that brief instant is what we should strive for every day of our lives. to declare before God, i am guilty, your son is innocent! please remember me. Gods will be done.

DA, I think it's important to keep Jesus' syntax (sentence construction, true voice), in this case, so 'verily, verily,' as much as one may want it to work for 'assuredly,' does not work.

But, yes, thanks for listing those 'verily, verily' verses that I even now want to include in this understanding because I see NO of those verses with 'today.' And, yes, 'today' was improper sentence construction, something I just don't believe Jesus did, and, to say, 'Assuredly I say to you today, you will be with Me in paradise' is just not the way the Way would put it. The word 'today' carries no value, the thief knew that they were both in 'today,

I never hear Jesus use 'today,' word in ANY 'assuredly' verses nor faulty comparison verses (as I deem 'them'), 'verily, verily.'

So, please list 'assuredly' verses Jesus said, not 'verily, verily,' which I personally translate as the affirmative word,'indeed.' Assuredly=assurance. Blessed assurance, in this case, right.

More on "Paradise" later ... for now:

The English word "paradise" is a transliteration of the Greek word paradeisos, which comes from an Old Persian word pairidaeza, "enclosure, garden."

In the Greek Septuagint translation of the Old Testament the word is used especially for the Garden of God or Garden of Eden in the creation story (Genesis 2:8-10, 16, etc.), thus moving the word from the realm of secular parks to the sacred Garden of God himself. Judaism of Jesus' day equated Paradise with the New Jerusalem and saw it as the present abode of the souls of the departed patriarchs, the elect, and the righteous. (see Note 1)

In the New Testament the word "paradise" is used three times:

"Today you will be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43)

"And I know that this man -- whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows -- was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell." (2 Corinthians 12:3-4)
