I'd like some feedback...how are individual people coping with this culture?

I don't watch much TV, but looked up at Wal-Mart and saw Kelly 'jokingly' tongue-kissing Regis.

It's inappropriate between two married people, but it definitely shouldn't be on TV.

What are people's thoughts?

A lot of stuff is passing as 'don't judge/don't condemn', but I am at odds as to how anyone is able to read the Bible or even go to church after the normalization of some of this stuff.

My general rule is to follow what God has revealed to me through his word on this matter.

My other general rule is, if people are going to go being preachy and vocal about things, then they had better do what they practice and preach. Otherwise they should just keep their yappers shut. Because I know of some Christians who consistently chirp about "garbage in garbage out", but then they go and watch movies and tv with sexual inuendos, massive violence and vulgar language. So if you are gonna chirp about things, then follow through with a lifestyle that matches your chirpin..

I'm not saying that to silence the valid preaching of righteous standards, but lets face it, many a folk does alotta chirpin.

The word of God says in (Eph 4:29), 'Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers'.

Did you ever communicate something that did not edify or minister grace to the hearer? When you did it, did you consider that it just might be corrupt communication? What is corrupt communication? The word corrupt is sapros, and it means something that is no longer fit for use because it does not minister grace. Have you ever had someone do something wrong and you decided that you have to say something to correct them. But God says don't do it, give them grace instead. They needed to hear something from you that ministered grace to their ear. You could have corrected them but it would have been corrupt communication because it would not have been useful or fitting at that time. God gives grace like this to believers all the time to edify and build them up in grace. As a new creature in Christ we are built together in grace and we are to minister that grace to one another, in word, in deed and in truth. We stand in grace and when we fall, we fall into the grace we were standing in. By faith we have access to this grace that is able to make us stand again (Rom 5:2. 1Pt 5:12).

Did what I say edify you and minister grace to you or was it corrupt communication?

I'm with you on that all the way. If we fail along the way, give youself grace and go on, right. I like (Acts 1:1) where it says that ..Jesus began both to do and to teach. When you put into practice what you believe then you have more authority behind you when you teach it, because it's experiencial knowledge. You can't do that with all knowledge but with the practical knowledge you can.

I just prefer to take a live and let live approach. Yes, there's some disturbing crap on TV, in the movies, etc, but the people who make and enjoy those things have the right to make and enjoy them. The only people who we really have a right to censor things for are our own offspring.

Probably the best thing we can do is vote with our dollars/pounds/euros/etc and not contribute to cultural garbage.

Yeah, The doctrine of the American church blinded me. People keep talking about uniting all these different faiths and it offends me.

I think people's strength should flow from God and prayer and devotion time with him. The Bible also mentions partaking in the divine nature...etc. We have all we need on this earth to live godly lives in Christ - the Bible records. I just grew weary with this 'American' church doctrine and this...we are Israel thing that I kept hearing.

I'm sadly glad that Obama is a godly man who is not pusing faith in the White House. The man needs to focus on rebuilding this nation and not rebuilding any churches.

I've come to the conclusion that I know God and see Him in certain people. Even more importantly, the church is not the street, the church is people I know who share like-faith.

Thank You

Things are crazy and getting worse by the day. M&M commercials having sexual tones have gone to far. You can't turn from channel to channel without being attacked from some filth. Its going to get a lot worse and we have to pray. I don't know how to post something for someone to send to Tv people but I wish I did, where wecould all sign or know who we go to tell them we don't like filth.

I agree 100%. I don't watch much television either, so I'm not familiar with a number of new shows that may have come out in the last year, but the moral decline is evident, in more than just television, and has been pretty steady for quite some time, and most have been desensitized to the depravity of it all.

Just know that you're not alone in your observation and continue to allow your own life to be a testimony against the evils of this day. Alternative lifestyles, sexualized dancing, revealing fashions and gratuitious nudity, are only some of the symptoms which represent a much deeper sickness the world is suffering from, their need for the Savior.

Without God, individuals are left to their own devices and eventually become the gods of their own lives, and having no direction, they naturally choose pleasure over their purpose, fulfilling every desire that enters into their minds. But, we were once the same way. If it were not for a support system of believing friends, a bible believing church, and the power of the Holy Spirit within me, my life would be equally as shameful.

I Corinthians 6:9

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
