It seems to me that there are very few people who actually want to learn anything.

Hello, resurrection33. I find your comment extremely interesting, and it provides a platform for an in depth discussion on perceptions. God is SO good, ALL the time. Can I ask what motivated you to post this thread? The truth and nothing but the truth. :)

The Bible says this about people who outwardly appear to be Christians but, inwardly they are not.
2 Timothy 3:5-7

(5) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
(6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
(7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

It seems to me that message boards are inherently against learning. Everyone has an agenda and, especially when it comes to this forum, it seems to always comes down to sides and the same exact arguments with the same exact scriptural support...and nobody learns and nobody is edified. Except the people who agree on a topic...they'll edify each other all day!

That said, I think the majority of us here do want to learn and are pursuing that in our lives. I think the fact that we come to a biblical discussion forum is evidence that we are seeking...

Amen. Also, beliefs are different. One word in the wrong place can lead to a month long fight to the death. People are not willing to learn from their enemies, or perceived enemies, on a forum. They don't know each other well enough to trust them, and the only inkling they have of that person's beliefs are what he or she has shared on the forum. Are you willing to trust your future teaching to me? I don't think so. you would want to know me personally, or at least see several hundred of my posts before you would believe what I had to teach you with 100 percent faith that I was not leading you astray, and I, in turn, would also want to test your spirit and words against the bible and see what you've said and the answers you've gotten before I would trust you with my spiritual teaching. I do try to learn from others here, and I believe I have, but there is no one yet I would commit my teaching to 100 percent

Yes, a lot of people on Christian message boards are wanting to teach, not learn. I try to come with the attitude of sharing what I have learned with others and listening to others share what they have learned with me. Too many people have the "I'm always right, and if you disagree with me, you're always wrong" mentality. I find it unsettling how so many people are puffed up and haughty in what they think they know.
