Mat 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.

How can I have this faith and not doubt?

have you ever asked yourself this question? I know I have.

Lets take a look at a man who Jesus said had great faith.

Mat 8:5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
Mat 8:6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
Mat 8:7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

notice that this centurion asks Jesus to help His servant, and Jesus says He will come. but notice what the centurion says back.

Mat 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
Mat 8:9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

Notice that the centurion believed that if Jesus just spoke then it would be done. note why in verse 9. the Centurion is acknowledging that Jesus has authority over sickness just as he has authority over his soldiers.

Jesus replies:

Mat 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Wow, Jesus was blown away by this mans faith. so we can see here that great Faith is imply believing that if God says it then it is as he says.

But how do I not doubt?

Its one thing to believe that God is able to do what He says but how can I not doubt?

I once went out into the bush to ask God this very question. I remember sitting on a fallen tree and saying to God. "Lord I believe, but how do I stop doubting?" The Lord spoke to me that day and simply said these words. "Whats it got to do with you?"

I suddenly understood, often when we pray we doubt ourselves. We doubt if we are right with God, or if our faith is big enough. See we doubt because we somehow think that we have something to do with the miracle, as if we have the power to bring success or failure to Gods work. But we don't we can't heal or do miracles and we can't stop God from doing what He has decided to do. Only God can.

I learned that the key to getting rid of doubt is to stop looking at ourselves and our weaknesses, and look to God and His strength.

God bless

Every single day, it is at the front of my thoughts for hours at a time, confessing to the Father that I cannot reach 100% and asking for His mercy and forgiveness on this issue.
The mustard seed is so elusive.

Hebrews 12:2
(2) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Ask God to help replace you doubts with faith and believe that he will when its his timing. Its really quiet simple actually. I think when you seek God and keep seeking him he strengthens your faith more and more and more until its untouchable faith that nothing makes falter. Hardships become lessons. Instead of feeling sorry for yourself you thank him for trying you. What a beautiful place to be to. Keep reaching for him and you will find all the answers you seek and then some ;)

I like this. You know how you can feed the faith? By the Word. Whenever I start doubting a promise of God that I believe is for me, I go straight to the Word. I read until and beyond the doubts. You can also talk with other like-minded people and gain strength by edification. But it is most def the Word that strengthens your belief. Doubts are basically in direct opposition to the Word that you are believing, or a slight misinterpretation of the Word you are believing. So in order to keep the Truth and not waver, you need to get back to It in the times you start doubting.

Hi Guys,
This is for me a very difficult question. I have the answer but that just prompts another question. So the issue is not resolved. For sure if you know the request is God's will then you KNOW completely that the requests will be granted. 100% those requests of mine that have been answered through fulfillment are those requests put on my mind by Jesus. I was not the originator of the desire. Sometimes I surprised myself by the requests. Sometimes I don't really realize I have 'asked' until hey look at that, Wow done, and then you realize what has happened. eg. I was teaching in Thailand and had a very troublesome student in my next class. I went anxiously into the classroom, the child became troublesome, I said, "Jesus you will have to take care of this child" not even hoping just speaking in desperation and hey, the child immediately stopped the bad behaviour. In fact some months later it became clear to me that the young lady was possessed and Jesus had freed her. The whole school knew what had happened but me. I just knew at the time that this child had become a beautiful modest young girl.
I have a thread that can be accessed through the search function, "witnessing and university students" and this lists typical lessons given to me by Jesus. Jesus keeps repeating a lesson until I believe and accept His authority then moves on. Jesus mostly teaches me outside my comfort zone.

I believe you about the story you said because I have heard of similar things and have my own experiences of things happening. I'm not sure about the lessons things, because I don't have time to look at the link.. What do you mean about the typical lessons given to you?

Matthew 14:27-31
(27) But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
(28) And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
(29) And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
(30) But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
(31) And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Peter walked on the water but, when he took his eyes off Jesus and onto the storm he began to have doubts.

Hi Bea22,
Thanks for asking. It is a bit of a catch 22. To tell about typical lessons means I retype what has already been typed.
Very quickly, On buses in Thailand. I also believe Jesus had me go to Thailand so I would be away from my rut my very carnal life of drinking smoking fornicating & sporting lifestyle. I find from repetition that Jesus takes me out of my comfort zone because that is where I learn more easily. There it is easier for me.
Jesus taught me to trust in Him on the various buses in Thailand. eg this bus was a van seating between 9-11 passengers. These vans picked up from bus stops and dropped off on request at bus stops. They have their destination in writing on the front of the van. I spoke no language nor could I read or write. I was completely foreign to this culture. My wife would write the destination I was going to on a piece of paper and I would compare it to what was on the front of the van. People in Thailand don't queue but compete for a seat and the best seat. No one waits at the bus stop but at a distance before the bus stop so that they may be the first on at that stop. It is a free for all. As I could not speak the language I could not ask the van to stop. I wanted the seat directly behind the bus driver so I could tap him on the shoulder. This I did. Maybe 4 trips a day (more or less) amongst a throng of people, without pushing in or competing, Jesus gave that seat to me. Then when I finally believed, some huge step, He stuck me in the back of the bus. Of course I cried out to Him and wanted to know what He was doing. Well whenever this happened, then it always happened that someone else was getting off the van where I wanted to get off so they called out for me. Not once in 5 years did I miss or was caught on a bus past my stop. Could I say unbelievable . Well yes if I wasn't in Christ. Trusting Jesus is not easy. How blessed we are that He is so very loving and patient.
love in Jesus

I've always loved Peter's passionate plea to the Lord here, though as much as he believed what he said with 100% conviction, Jesus knew Peter would still look away from Him, just like in the storm.

33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.
34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

nice story

ive prayed many times Lord i believe help thou my unbelief.
True tho our faith can only be in what He has promised.
Yet all promises are conditional. You still made a great point.
Our faith is in Him not in our faith.

The object of faith must be Christ. Never self. If the object is right, faith will keep us, even if we "feel" our faith could be "better".

In my opinion, you will always have doubt. But can be bold in the faith at the same time. I have debated with people in the past about Christian doubt. You will always have doubts, no matter how much faith you have in Christ.

Faith and believing in something that you cannot see is good because you know it's real.

The whole reason christians have faith in the Bible and in what God says is because what He says comes to pass, consistently and without fail. He speaks and it happens... maybe years later, at times instantly. What God says, exactly how He says it, it happens. He interprets it by fulfilling it. Prophecies in the Bible have come to pass. Therefore, you can believe that every single one of them will be fulfilled if they haven't been already.

The evidence is already there. The things that havent happened yet are guaranteed to be manifested soon enough because of the things which have already happened. He speaks and who will then say that He doesn't keep His Word? Heaven and earth may pass away but His Word will never pass away.

Faith is not believing something without evidence. If anything, it's the doubt that doesn't have evidence to support it.

Romans10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
John6:63It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Stay close to him and Jesus is the word.

Luke22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

What better place to hang-out than in the word of God, for Jesus is the word, and faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
