Does "having the mind of Christ" mean everything you feel and reveal is from God?

1 Cor 2

16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?”[e] But we have the mind of Christ.
What are the implications of the last part of that verse?

Some take it to mean that believers/Christians/disciples have the literal brain/thoughts of Christ right in their head, and has a result everything they think, feel and reveal is of God, because, after all, they do have Christ's mind!

This view is incorrect, and can lead Christians in to thinking everything they think, feel and then reveal is of God. It can end up leading people in to deception, because many sincere people would never want to question someone claiming to be speaking forth the literal mind of Christ.

So what does "we have the mind of Christ" mean?

In this part of Corinthians Paul is talking about his work as an apostle in the early church. The church was built on the foundation of the revelation the apostles were given.
Ephesians 2

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,

People followed what was revealed to the apostles.
Acts 2
41 Then those who gladly[a] received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

Paul is explaining his role as an apostle. Apostles were given revelation/understanding to the early church, which was a "foundation" of which "people continued in their doctrine". So when he says we have the mind of Christ, he's saying the apostles had revelation from Christ to them. Which was the fulfillment of this verse in John 16,

12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.[c
Jesus still had things to reveal to his church. Those things were revealed through the Apostles who had the mind of Christ and revealed what he still had to reveal.

So having the mind of Christ has nothing to do with us having some sort of quasi-brain transplant where every thing we think feel and reveal is now a direct utterance from God that can go untested as we speak it forth from our "mind of Christ".

If someone now days does claim to be speaking from the mind of Christ, it won't contradict the mind of Christ as revealed through his apostles.

We should do as the early church did.

42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine
Because that is who the mind of Christ was revealed to.

Now if you're looking for ways to get a mind like Christ, let me point you to some instructions from someone who had the mind of Christ.

Philippians 2

5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Moral of the story is to not be a parrot. The word of God alone without the shills and fanfare is not a dead life.
Jesus said His words were spirit and life. John 6:63 The Holyspirit and the Word are indivisible.

I can see that many times Jesus told people to keep quiet about what He had done and tell noone.
This is a far cry of an example for those who say that boasting in the Lord is telling about all their
spirituality and wonderful works.

Boasting in the Lord is to speak of His holiness and perfections and His salvation and grace. The boast
isnt about what we did.

having the mind of Christ means that you have the same beliefs and attitudes as Jesus has...you have the same knowledge, wisdom and can discern truth from error, it means that you have the same values and you love in the same way Jesus loves and hate the things that Jesus hates...you love things that are good and right and true and hate that which is evil and perverted and untrue

We know what was on Jesus' mind because He told us in the Gospels, but we do not know what the Father has in His mind. Only the Holy Spirit knows this and we cannot understand what the Holy Spirit is thinking. Our spirit can understand our body just as the Holy Spirit understands the Father.

when we love God we know God by following His commandments..in that way we can know what God wants us to know...God the Father, God the son and God the Holy spirit are ONE...they are not three separate mind..they are in perfect harmony and perfect agreement...when Jesus spoke to us in human form, He spoke to us as God and all three Persons are the one God..God gave us His word to know Him

(Spiritual Wisdom)

1 Cor 2:6-16: "However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural (unsaved) man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ"

This scripture speaks of spiritual wisdom set apart from the wisdom of the world, which comes to nothing. The two are different. It is easy for a child to know God but difficult for a proud scientist with years of worldly knowledge. Once you become a child of God you are given this wisdom of God (through the Holy Spirit) which surpasses that which is in the world. Jesus is our example, we follow in His footsteps.

This last bit relates to the saved-v-unsaved man.

He who is saved, who has the Holy Spirit dwelling in him, can discern truth from error, we use righteous judgment, testing the spirits to see if things are of God. However, the lost cannot do these things for they are still in darkness and still being deceived. We can help the lost, the lost can't help us. An unsaved therapist is lost and cannot help us with advice of the world when "we are not of this world" (John 15:19). Only a saved counselor can give us spiritual advice. The unsaved rely on wisdom of the world whereas the saved have the wisdom of God through the Holy Spirit.

This reminds me of a scripture I read about not suing the Brethren...

1 Cor 6:1-7: "Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge? I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers! Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another"

How can a person hand over their spiritual brother to a lost soul to judge them. Same thing.

Maybe I am just a simple minded woman, but I truly think this is just about the Holy Spirit. When you are without the Holy Spirit, many things of God seem to be just foolishness. Once you have the Holy Spirit in your heart it is like a a light has been turned on in the darkness. You can read God's word and it speaks to you.

Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Being human we have additional instruction...

Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

So I guess with the Holy Spirit and the constant renewing of our mind, in those circumstances, we should have the mind of Christ.
