I will use the Textus Receptus for translating. Comments and suggestions are most welcome. This study is not for or against any particular opinion of theology, but is, in all possibilities, meant for a study of verb tense, and phrase meaning so that we all could learn more about God's written word. Heb 4:1 Therefore, we should be frightened if perhaps, a promise being left behind to enter into His rest, anyone of you* should seem (to be of an opinion by another) to had fallen short.


KJV Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.


Notes:


be frightened (passive depOnent) = the passive tells us that something has caused us to be afraid. And what is that but that warning in chapter 3 telling us that there is a possibility of not entering into His rest. It is good to have faith, but faith alone is not enough. Will it be said of you, "But Lord, I was not under the Law, so when the Spirit said to me not to lie or to steal, I told Him to hush, that I am of faith alone.' And the Spirit will say, 'But I spoke to you God's will and you were stubborn in your obedience to it." And the Lord will say, 'Depart from me you worker of iniquity." Don't be fooled, faith alone without works is dead. The deeds which belongs to the house of faith are the ones which we perform under the Spirit. The Spirit says, "feed and cloth the hungry" and this fulfills the Law through Love and we will be spiritually rewarded in God's Kingdom. Seek you first your treasures in Heaven and that is done by obedience to His Voice.


should seem = not the opinion of another human, but that of God's. It is the one who does the will of the Father who shall enter into His rest, His Kingdom. (Mat 7:21) It is the servant whose heart has grown weary for His Lord's return and then turns to sin, as they did in the wilderness awaiting for the promised land, who shall be appointed their portion with the hypocrites (unbelievers). (Mat 24:48-51) It is the Lord who shall say, 'Depart from Me you workers of iniquity. (Luk 13:27) Faith without the works of the Spirit is a death warrant which shall be spoken by the Lord Himself. So, do not grow weary in doing good, knowing that the Lord speaks in the present when He says, 'I DO COME'.


had fallen short (peRfect Active iNfinite) = the perfect is a tense which speaks of an one time action which HAS occurred in the past. The active tells us that we are the performers of that action (the passive would tell us that God performed that action on us, which would be like saying, 'God caused me to fall". Is it not logical to conclude that we, by our choices, would have caused our own fall?). The infinite gives the action of the verb a sense of possibly having occurred at anytime, and thus, should be avoided. So, let us labor to enter into that rest and not be an example of those who fell in the wilderness (v4:11).

And, when, I say 'pulls,' I mean, cee wrestles with God for the greatest answer for the greatest good, wanting God's perfect words to bless you all, Christ peeps . And, like Jacob, would not let go of God until God granted Jacob favor, cee does not let go, for He knows his relatuinship with God is 'great,' and, God NEVER EVER NEVER lets go of us who are in Love with Him and His ways and leading by His Spirit and Truth for our life

The emphasis is on us being a group, a group which has been proclaimed good news like the group in the wilderness. The writer of this letter is trying very hard to give the audience of this letter an understanding that the same thing will happen to us from the house of faith as it did to those from the house of Moses if we ignore His Voice as some of them did. Amen, cee, hearing the Word is never enough, it must be mixed with faith that causes us to be obedient, even, if He deems, like Abraham having Isaac on the sltar, to the point of death.

Jesus is Lord, no one matches His power, no name is above His name, He is ruler supreme , of all. Therefore, live your life understanding of His Love for you. He came to Earth to show us the way Home, on a narrow road we walk, knowing His care for His sheep never wavers, ever, we are His. Stay His, sheep, don't leave the pasture, your green fields, for your Rest awaits :)

This finished works , foundation of the world could be reference to creation or Israel did not enter His rest even though they did works, because salvation is from faith, not works, though, be certain, Christ peeps, IF God is on your heart, in your heart, inside your life , you will WORK, as He leads :)

God's place of comfort, heavenly comfort is waiting for us IF we can understand His way of having us 'rest' is to WORK but without working works that get us to Heaven, for only FAITH_FULL adherence to His commands for us leading our life get us to His 'rest.' A resting place, without rest, only joy ! No sorrow, no pain, ONLY rest !!! Ahhhh, the wonderful Truth, the wonderful promises of God for those who do what He asks ("Follow Me") in their life.

As if the Word is anything more than the simplicity of knowing who has been here since the foundation of the world, who God sent (His Son) to save us from sin and death and show us the way Home, as if there is any other more important thing than that understanding and all the Love of Him, His law of Love for us with that understanding, that is all. As Galations 5:14 states, once we Love the law is THEN being followed. Whose law, green? The law that leads our life, the law that is of Christ (Galations 6:2), 'the law' that gives us 'rest.' :)

God said things, like 'no tatoos' and when a command was not obeyed it was showing not just a lack of belief but a lack of what, Christ peeps? Faith. As a cee word said, the Israelites showed 'faithless ' way. Faithlessness, this simple kind of act was HUGE in these times and ....

What about now, green? We are under Christ now, not under law, right?.

'Under Christ' means an even.greater appreciation of the law, with grace and mercy and His Love understood of being under Him.
Faithless, as has been made clear in Hebrews verses earlier , means not entering His 'rest' when you die :(
Remember, too, never forget, His mercies are new every morning :)
Christ, so Loves you, peeps, live in His Love, let Him lead you, read the Word with Him teaching you soo many things :)

For I had set a question before Our Lord in Jesus, and the answer was given in the words here. :)

For where before we obeyed the law, we now in love, obey Jesus, thus all is done according to the wll of God, and by doing so, we have our rest in Him.
For the law of love fullfills the comandments, and brings us rest in Jesus. :)

A scripture that sums up well the lesson taught here...
Do not love me just in words, but in deed and truth as well.

Sometimes I do wonder which steals salvation more, sin or condemnation?
Some how I believe they are one in the same. :)

Note the word change from 'rest' to 'sabbatical rest'. There will come a blessed time when the 'sweat of our brow' and the 'labor of childbirth' shall be lifted up off from us. There shall be no more of that curse, but we, as God, shall rest from our labor and be reunited to our God as it was before the fall. Do not grow weary, knowing soon the toils of this life shall be but not even a memory for those who are God's people.
