There is only one way to be free. that is to be free from fear.

As Paul said, we (those who have been saved by Gods grace) have not been given a spirit of fear. but a spirit of adoption whereby we call out abbah father.

If we fear, or teach one can lose the adoption God gave us, (salvation can be lost) we are not free, but must live in fear.

Does it depend on what truth your talking about. Granted there is One truth on how to obtain salvation, which is through Christ alone. But there are many other truths that pertain or are related to the Gospel (secondary issues). Not all Christians get these right, and I would put myself in that category as well.

Such issues as:
1. Infant baptism
2. Eschatology
3. OSAS
4. Free will vs predestination
5. Old earth vs new earth
Just to name a few.

So are you saying if we have some of these secondary issue wrong, that we are totally lost?
Hi
In my bible eternal life does not hinge on believing either way, any of five things you have mentioned above.

As one man said:

'I become increasingly exasperated as to the ever higher doctrinal hoops people are expected to jump through to be saved'

Too many isms and ologies these days I think

God Bless

Grandpa, Iam curious aboutthis statement below

A person comes to God and asks for forgiveness, believing he will recieve it. God then does the cleansing.

I thought that there is no forgiveness without the shedding of blood? If this is true, how can we get any further forgiveness besides the cross without more shedding of blood?

Hebrews 9:22
In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
Hebrews 10:29
How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

You see back at ther cross is the dividing line of human history, before Christ sin had not been dealt with complete. after the cross there is no mor sacrifice for sin or for the shedding of blood IT IS FINISHED AS CHRIST CRIED OUT AND GAVE UP THE GHOST
John 19:30

New International Version (NIV)

30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
HE TOOK AWAY THE SIN OF THE ENTIRE WORLD AT THE CROSS
John 1:29

New International Version (NIV)

John Testifies About Jesus

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
SO JESUS'S JOB WAS TO REDEEM THE ENTIRE WORLD IN jESUS'S fATHERS SIGHT
Now after this was done at Jesus's death the whole world was put under a new covenant, actually mainly the Jews, for they were under and bound byLaw that they could never keep, and unfortunatelywe the gentile have gone over tothe first chosen and stoleoff their ragged clothes and put them on over our righteousclothes that God clothed us with trying to obey the Lawas the Jews did, but we are just asking for forgiveness overand over again nullifying what God did through belief God made you Holy through his Son from God's vantage point not mine, not yours or anyone elses or the world. God is the opposite of this world
Just food for thought, we are forgiven before any of us here were ever born it is back at the cross
Love you in his holiness in all of our undeserved grace
Homwardbound I am

it seems are speaking in terms of 'objective justification' where the world was redeemed/reconciled on account of Christ's work, yet the whole world is not saved. It takes also the subjective side of justification where we appropriate by faith that one time work. ..in this sense. the blood of Jesus continues redeeming, justifying, cleansing consciences etc.
nice topic , I am. off to. sleep.

Hebrews 2
14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.

Galatians 3:7
Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham.

I can't agree with you more, that's why I call them secondary issues.

NO! there are two keys first one is belief in Christ, kind of like looking through a skeleton key hole in a door, and as you look through the whole there you know is beauty on beyond this door, so you ask God for salvation and Jesus takes the key and opens the door, you are justified, sanctified, made forever holy as you step through the door, and God starts performing the work through you that you , I and all believers need, teaching us truth that sets us free, it all boils down to love that is unconditional.
The second key is works, 1 Cor. 3, either my works are going to nurn up or they will not it depends on what the works are built out of, wood, hay, stubble, which is all flesh works or gold which is pure. 1 Cor.3 :10-15
10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.

So the only way is belief, there are no additions to salvation, the things man has added are for man's gain and has done a great job at it, but God is not deceived nor mocked, and God loves us all the same hoping all come to the dinner feast with a white robe given to us, never ever earned, We get rerwarded by God for saying God please do not just live in me, but more importantly through me, and God's works through one the believer will never burn up.
Now to understand the works issue works is a by-product of faith in Christ Jesus. If Abraham did not believe God then Abraham would not have done the work. If Jesus did not represent God the Father then Jesus would not have done the work. Jesus did nothing without Father telling him. We are to learn the same and get out of worldly traditions. keep growing in grace, God will straighten out all the errors in each and every one of us that believe in Christ Jesus
It takes personal study, as like if you were to become a bank teller, you would get so familiar with the money that as soon as counterfeit showed up you would know it immediately. So in knowing God or getting to know God who would have to be your teacher in order to know counterfeit as soon as it passed by? Answer is in Hebrews. There are too many denminations for any of those to be perfectly correct. So the only truth that is truth comes from the creator period, and the creator God will reveal truth to anyone that truly wants to know him all the rest are fakes. They are like the serpent at the tree of evil causing doubt and Adam And Eve ate there from. There is only one God, one faith one Lord and one baptism. The believers are also a part of this one, for 1x1x1x1x1 always equals one
Hoping this helps in your walk

Have a great sleep, the first part of salvation is belief and it goes beyond being forgiven as the whole world is forgiven from Father's advantage point back at the cross the last sacrifice and shedding of blood
Romans 5:10

New International Version (NIV)

10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!
You see first the death was needed to take away sin, kill the disease that caused death, and Christ left only one thing left for each of us to do that is change ones mind from unbelief to belief, thus we are saved by the life not the death read romans 6:1- 6:11 first die with Christ, then by belief and the operation of God the Father be raised back to life
6 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.
11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

This is for here and now belief that you are after belief dead tosin and alive to God. The decepton today is that you are not in a redeemed so therefore you willcontinue to sin this is a lie this liestopsyour, mine and all that believe this lie it stops ones growth in the Spirit of God 1John 3 read it
3 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.
4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
Do you see the lie the devils have created, about keeping you in sin and not trusting God to take it all away in you here and now. Start trusting today and you will not sin and you will not even know if you have sinned or not, because you will have been too busy trusting God praisiing God and thanking God that there has been no time for sin, the old is gone and the new has begun. the transformation is in the renewing of one's mind, as a man thinks so is he. Whatever one is focused on in thought that one will do that exactly. So it is not how we feel it is what are we thinking that causes one's feelings. When one goes by feelings then it solidifies thoughts and in this world we all have been taught to go by feelings therefore we are captivated into deception and we need to not be of this world only in it as ambassadors representing the love, joy, peace and righteousness in the Holy Ghost

I take belief to be a response to the salvation already accomplished and declared in the Gospel.
God declares the world forgiven on account of Christ, an individual receives it's benefits upon believing the Gospel.
Is that your understanding?

Yes if one believes they have all they need for life and godliness, they have gone from death to life but unfortunately, the devil has come as an angel of light to even fool the very elect. Letus go onto to maturity if God will permit

Yes that is the milk of the word, and there is much more as one grows in grace unto the meat of the word, that Paul wanted so badly to get the Corinthians, Galations, and everyone of us to understand this amazing grace that is a gift of God, and it is by belief, yet this belief that starts with I am forgiven has been turned into I need more forgiveness by theSpiritual warfare that the believer is under. There is no more shedding of blood, there are no more sacrifices it is finiished at the cross where all sin has been dealt with by the Father and taken out of the way, so Father in the power of the Holy Ghost can live in you the believer. Ephesians 1:13 states the one that believes is sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. The more one seeks out truth the freer one becomes.
It is a belief not a works program. true works in the Spirit are a by-product of belief If you, I or anyone is asking for further forgiveness beyond the cross then one might need to see Hebrews 5:11-6:6. We as congregations, denominations, fellow worshippers have mixed law and grace together as if they mix. Law and grace do not mix just as oil and water do not mix.You can stir up the oil and water in a glass and it temporarily mixes, but when all is calmed down they seperate from one another and frustration is left with in the people that mix law and grace. So many a people are frustrated to the max behind closed doors, frustrated because they are working at their salvation after they first believed, and it is because of the mixing of law and grace. Jesus used a physical analogy. He said does one put new wine in an old wine skin? Tell me what happens when one puts new wine in an old wine skin? That is right the old wineskin will burst open and the wine lost when the wine ferments. This is the same with one that comes to belief, we put the new in the our old self's our flesh and later down the road we are hiding behind closed doors hiding our sin(s) how many of us will admit to this to ourselves that is face this truth and thus ask for a new wine skin, moving on to the meat of the word. So when you come to understand the born again saga of nicodemus and Jesus. First we are born of the flesh and then the Spirit the Spirit is the new wine skin. remember this romans 6:11 reckon thyself to be dead to sin and alive to God

Yes all past sin is forgiven as soon as it is past before anyone can pray about it, it was taken care of back at the cross, so therefore when anyone sins go before the throne of grace in appreciation thanking God for the taking care of the punishment of sin which was death every time one sinned before the cross. Then ask Father to teach you how to say no to unrighteousness, and Father says through trusting Him by dying to yourself in his Son. Then Father will raise you back to life as he did hs Son
