Maybe a thread with a different point would be in order.

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

John 15:4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

1 Peter 2:21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

1 John 4:17 In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him.

John 13:15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

Eph 2:10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 1:4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love

Ephesians 4:24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

2 Timothy 2:21 If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

Titus 2:14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

1 John 4:19
We love because He first loved us.

1 John 4:10
In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “Uncircumcision” by the so-called “Circumcision,” which is performed in the flesh by human hands—
remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall,
by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace,
and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity.
AND HE CAME AND PREACHED PEACE TO YOU WHO WERE FAR AWAY, AND PEACE TO THOSE WHO WERE NEAR;
for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household,
having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,
in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord,
in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.
Ephesians 2:11-22

What!!!!
All that lovey-dovey stuff!!!
If we do that........then how can we prove we are saved!!!!
I must have works, I must have works.
I mean really, you can't claim you are in the beloved by following in His footsteps!!!!
Not merely.
We must have certain primal rudiments and things to do.
(After all, He is God......and we.........but mere mortals)
And what He did as God on earth we could never do.
So that's why He gave us every jot and tittle to work out on our own.
For does not His word say - "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling"?

I speak as a fool, as I have been accused of before

It is true, love comes from the heart.
And only Jesus can make us love our enemies.
Only the risen Savior can give us the grace to forgive.
And only the Holy Spirit can give us joy in the midst of a storm.
All these things are true, because Jesus is real, and He is true to those who trust
in His immutable grace and His everloving kindness.
And His tender mercies towards us-(even when we make mistakes), which are new every morning

Amen!

1 Thessalonians 1:3 We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

It's all about Jesus.
And nothing about us.
As the Apostle Paul said - "I must decrease, so He can increase".
Without the immutable grace given by Jesus no man shall see God.
"See", as in understand with our fallible eyes.

"IFyou LOVE me, you will obey what I command.
I love this statement. There is a lot more to it than what it seems.

It seems on the surface that you must earn the Lords Love by obeying Him.

But that's not whats being said.

Love is obedience. Love fulfills the Law, His Commands. And Love is given by Him to us long before we ever come to Love Him.

John 15:1-5
1I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

What is this fruit spoken of in the above passages? The fruit of the Spirit, of course. Namely, Love...

If we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God Rom. 8:16

The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself 1 John 5:10a

Just off the top of my head...;)

What a deep breath i now can take that their are people who can obey out of Love.

Its like a wife who cooks and starves so she doesnt get dumpted...or a man who works
hard to please his wife so she wont leave him. We love Him because He first
loved us. We love Him for the beauty of His nature and attributes.

Not for what we can do for Him...He needs nothing...obedience is actually
a way for Him to love us. We take on His nature through it. He is pleased with
us. Meek and lowly...that still blows me away!

That thought seized my mind for 30 miuntes this morning...I was reading in Matthew, and again read those beautiful words...

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. (11:29)

How...why would He...can this be...?? :)

That's just so amazing. L-O-V-E. ♥

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:phil 1:6

1 Corinthians 1:8 He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Martha and Mary
38Now as they were traveling along, He entered a village; and a woman named Martha welcomed Him into her home. 39She had a sister called Mary, who was seated at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word. 40But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” 41But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; 42but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” - Luke 10

I signed back in for a minute just to peek at this thread. ♥

Abiding, your post #15, and Marianna, your 'Mary's part quote...
This is what I wish people could see.
We are the grateful recipients of the grace of God!'
We can no more maintain our security before the Lord than we could establish it.
It is a delight to serve and obey Him because we love Him, but we would never be able to even do that much outside of Him.

He begins it, finishes it, and fills up the in-between.
Thank God we can live in His joy each day knowing He's the One in charge of all that concerns us!! :)

The LORD will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O LORD, is everlasting; Do not forsake the works of Your hands.
Psalm 138:8

The last part of that is literally rendered "The work of Thy hands let not fail!" I kinda like that. ♥
