It seems to me the world is populated with two groups of people, the “holier than thou” people and the humble people.

Whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matt 18:4 RSV

resurection, :) , what matters though is who one's self is in Jesus.
For there are many, many kinds of people, and the motives of their heart vary even more.
So why does who one's own self is matter?
Because we are called to keep our eyes on Jesus, not on flesh.
Rather than looking to whom another is, we keep our eyes on Jesus, so those who are still searching,
may see His glory, and look to Jesus.

It is always hurts to see another's self seeking, or more often one's self seeking self, I know I hurt when I see this.
But the best way to reach the heart of another?
Is not by looking at their flesh, but looking to Jesus, so His presance and glory will shine brightly in witness to them.
For it is the sacrifice and perfect love given to us by God in Jesus Christ is Lord come in the flesh!
For what good does it do to point to darkness, flesh.
When pointing to Jesus brings the light that calls every heart too Him.
For His glory shines so brightly, that the one in darkness, will desire Jesus!

May the light of Jesus shine always in your life, bringing all glory to Jesus.
And bring the witness of His salvation , His perfec love to all who are in darkness.

God bless:)

Hmmm...I always thought the two types of people were those who belong to the Lord
and those who do not. :)

Self-righteousness can be found in the righteous,
and humility can be found in the lost.

Because we are all human, but "the rain falls on the just and the unjust". :)

just sitting in the dust crying out to you for help!"

A good way to tell which is which is to discern what gospel they teach and what they say about salvation. If they believe that salvation is through the work of Christ alone or if it is through the work of man. If one sinner is less a sinner than another sinner.

Yes, it is good to see you Tribesman. Let's not try to lock horns this time around. It's okay if you don't want to be my friend and I am certainly not holier then you in any way. I hope you realize that in all practicality and in wisdom. See you around.

I don't believe our theology makes us more or less "holier than thou". There are both the "holier than thou" & the "humble" in each of the Christian theologies & denominations. I don't believe the thread starter was referring tothat, otherwise they would have titled the thread, "Those who believe my theology & those who don't". I have to remind myself of that concept sometimes when I start to lump people of a certain denomination together as being, "holier than thou". There are humble people in EVERY denomination & theology. The ones that are "holier than thou" just come across so loud & bold spiritually, they leave a bad taste in your mouth for that theology or denomination sometimes. As you come to know more people of these denominations & theologies, you will find that there are many who are humble there also.
If the thread is about Christians of the world, I agree. I feel a lot better when I do not associate or communicate with the "holier than thou" Chrisitans. When I am forced to be in a social situation with them, I do not bring up Biblical matters. But if they ask me a Biblical question, I answer them honestly. Usually, they only want to discuss Biblical matters that make them feel spiritually superior to those they are talking to.
If the thread is talking about all the people in the world, I also agree. Personally, I have noticed a big change in the United States where it is divided into 2 groups by the media , "those who vote for democrats & the stupid people who vote republican." In other European countries it is, "If you don't believe in Socialism you are uneducated & low class".
So yes, for the 1st time in my lifetime, the world is appearing to be dividing into two groups. The educated "holier than thou" & the stupids/humble. (be it politics or religion).
In fact, this will continue at an alarming rate until Biblical prophecy is fulfilled, & the people of the world will vote for 1 leader in politics, & 1 religion. So let us set aside our differences in theology & love one another ANYWAY!!

He hit the nail right on the head. Love points to Christ, not faults. Fault points to the flesh, not Christ. This goes very well with that Pickles said also.

Resurection,
I hope you know this was meant to encourage you, not to correct. :)
I just wanted to share with you because I know how easy it is to become discoraged, and how Jesus shows us how to overcome in Him. :)
I was just reading over this post again, and I was concerned it all came out wrong.
If I said it baddly, Im sorry and please forgive me.
