Of course, it’s more fun thinking up complex theologies, since it makes us look very clever and spares us the need to repent of our sin, but in the end, repentance is the only thing that works.

because using our God-given intellect to examine the bible, the principals set forth therein and how our lives reflect those same principals is of no practical use????

You see, if you repent of your sin, you have nothing to worry about.

Jon 3:5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
Jon 3:6 For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
Jon 3:7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
Jon 3:8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.
Jon 3:9 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
Jon 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

Mat_12:41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

Nineveh repented and forsook their rebellion.

Luk 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Luk 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
Luk 15:11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:
Luk 15:12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
Luk 15:13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
Luk 15:14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
Luk 15:15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
Luk 15:16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
Luk 15:17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
Luk 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
Luk 15:19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
Luk 15:20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
Luk 15:21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
Luk 15:22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
Luk 15:23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
Luk 15:24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

The prodigal son repented and forsook his rebellion.

Indeed it is a very simple message.

Isa 1:16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
Isa 1:17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Isa 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
Isa 1:20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Isa 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Pro 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Jer 26:13 Therefore now amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.

I’m not sure I understand the question. This thread is a spin-off from a thread I started earlier in the day. I believe heaven is repentance, and I offer this verse as proof:

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV

But it is my own experience which convinces me that heaven is repentance. When I resist temptation, most of my worries disappear. The ones that remain I tackle with faith. What is there to worry about when we repent of our sin? Haven't we been taught to trust the Lord?

When you are free from worry, you can love the Lord with your whole heart, soul, and mind. Then you have time and motivation to study and apply those principles. You can get a whole new life, replacing what used to be worry with a life of joy showing the glory of God.

One of my first verse to memorize was Philippians 4.6 - 7. has saved me from a life of worry.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.

worry=insulting the Father. Christ Jesus will make a way when it seems there is no way.

Repentance is not Heaven! The verse you provide in Matthew is talking about Jesus bringing in the long anticipated Rule or realm of God (Both John the Baptist and Jesus used this). It is this realm already here in Christ but not yet fully consumated. So repentance is not Heaven, a repentant heart will enter into this Kingdom/rule or reign.. but but your repentance does not make heaven.

There will be many of us (infact probably all of us) entering heaven with unconfessed sins. Think about that for a while.

I think repentance IS heaven:

As I just told Phil, I think repentance is heaven:

You call it “teaching.” I don’t think I’ve ever called myself a teacher. Jesus told us not to call ourselves teachers (Matt 23:8).

When you resist the temptation to sin, your worries disappear, because there is nothing to worry about. (That is heaven. You don't believe we are going to go to heaven and sin, do you?)

Like I say, when you repent, there is no longer anything to worry about. Jesus commanded us to repent. The path is clear, isn't it?

You see, if you repent of your sin, you have nothing to worry about.
A sinner must realize the need for repentance in other to have peace with God and joy. When they respond to the Spirit's conviction and approach to the throne of grace with a humble heart and contrite spirit and surrender their life to God, they will feel the outpouring of God's love. They will have the peace that comes with having a clear conscience and being guiltless in God's sight.
