Isaiah 26:3
"Thou [God] wilt keep him [the believer] in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed [fixed] on Thee..."
That's the stayed mind. It is fixed on the Word of God, the revelation of God, the truth of God.
Do you want to be miserable? Look within at yourself and focus on all your weaknesses and faults.
Do you want to be discouraged? Look around at the world with all its confusion.
Do you want to be peaceful? Look at God and His Word.
When I share this with people, they get upset and say you can't have perfect peace. I have to remind people alot of times that I didn't write the Book. I have to believe that God either lied or told the truth in this verse the same as they do. This is a promise of God...the one who makes a promise is the one who is responsible to make good on it. I didn't promise anybody perfect peace......God did!
Now, personally, I believe that God told the truth here. I practice this verse faithfully...and it allows me to walk with confidence and assurance because I am at peace.
Now, I want to teach you something really beautiful. The word "perfect" in this verse is really the word "peace" again. The word "peace" is stated twice........whenever God says something twice in His Word, it is established. [You might see this note in your center margin].
Now God is Spirit [John 4:24]. How do I stay my mind on God? We stay or fix our mind on God's Word and His promises. And when I don't allow my mind to get moved off of that Word, God fulfills His promise and I remain in that peacefulness where I can enjoy His divine presence and hear His still small voice.
That peace makes it possible to receive the revelation that God has for you, to walk moment by moment before Him.
Romans 8:6
".....to be spiritually minded is life and peace."
