Being with a person that you never new at all, for so long. How does the bible advise us to deal with it?

Well, you don't provide much detail so its hard to say. But I'd treat it as any other relationship with a stranger. That is what they are whether they should have been or not. Take things slowly. Wait for them to prove themselves trustworthy. Do not open yourself up to quickly. Regardless of the relationship (long lost family member) groups are best.
