For those that may hear;

Matthew 15:7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 10 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: 11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man....

.....18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20 These are the things which defile a man:

Matthew 12: 34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. 36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

John 5:31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

John 7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. 19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law?

To avoid being a false witness, a believer cannot speak of himself in seeking his own glory. To be a true witness, the believer is to speak of the Son in seeking His glory. That is what designate and signifiy a disciple by Whom they are representing and thus Whom they are serving as a disciple.

That means a believer cannot speak of his commitment or his promises to Christ or to do good in His name for that speaks of the believer and to his own glory in the flesh for keeping it. To be a witness of the Son, a believer has to speak of his faith in Him and all of His promises to us which is seeking His glory which is why sinners are converted by verbalizing that hope in Him.

Make no mistake on this. You cannot do both. May the Lord help you to see this.

John 3:28 Ye yourselves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before him. 29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

2 Corinthians 4:5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Should we testify of another believer in seeking his glory of his keeping his commitment to Christ or his promises to Christ?

John 2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. 24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, 25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. 40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. 41 I receive not honour from men. 42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. 43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. 44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only? 45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. 46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me. 47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

So what is the guideline for fellowshipping in the Word?

1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

What warnings are there when believers start exalting you like they do Calvin & Luther?

Luke 6:26Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

What should you be doing when you see that happening to you?

1 Corinthians 3:4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? 5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.....

.....21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's; 22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's; 23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

How can believers not exalt you if they speak of your commitment & your dedication? Should that not lead you to ask Jesus in prayer if you are witnessing properly?

Look at even how the Holy Spirit will not witness in seeking the Son's glory.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me:

Those led by the Holy Spirit will be bearing the same witness as the Holy Spirit's.

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: 27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

Ever wonder how you can bear witness by yourself?

John 8:17It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.

That is why we can serve Jesus Christ as a singular witness because we are led by the Holy Spirit in us in bearing that same witness of the Son in seeking His glory.

We should not deviate from it because the Holy Spirit will not testify of us in seeking our own glory, and neither will the Holy Spirit lead us to testify of the Holy Spirit in seeking His own glory. We, as a combined witness, seek to testify of the Son in seeking the glory of the Son, and thereby the Father's.

The religious altar call of making a commitment or a promise to Christ & to do good can be found as a rudiment as practised in other world's religions and self help groups, which is why believers should shun such rudiments when we live by faith in the Son of God and all of His promises to us since nothing is lacking in the New Covenant to us of what He will do in helping us to follow Him as His disciple, and not a disciple of man.

Paul wouldn't dare say anything that would give him the credit for making new converts obedient by word or deed thus Paul fully preached the gospel.

Romans 15:15 Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God, 16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. 17 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God. 18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, 19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

1 Corinthians 1:26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: 29 That no flesh should glory in his presence. 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: 31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:...9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. 11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

2 Corinthians 1:17 When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay? 18 But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay. 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. 20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. 21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Recap:

A believer's commitment speaks of himself and it is to his glory for keeping it, thus he is defiling himself by being a false witness.

A believer's faith speaks of Him & all of His promises to us which leads to His glory and why sinners would be converted to Him when we testify of our hope in Christ Jesus not only as our Saviour, but as our Good Shepherd as well.

A believer may testify of himself in what he cannot do, and testify of what Christ has done for him & is doing which is to the glory of the Son, and not of the believer's. That kind of testimony gives sinners hope in Him.

Jesus can forgive & cleansed defiled believers.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Jesus can help believers to be true witnesses of Him.

Psalm 19:12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

He can also set believers free from their yokes of bondages of commitments & promises to rest in Him & His promises to us.

Galatians 5:1Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.....5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

So decide this day Whom you will serve: the Lord Jesus Christ or the pride of man.

May the Lord help believers to shun the latter to be true witnesses of Him.

A reminder on what makes one a false witness as well as what makes one a true witness and how we are to be serving the Son as His disciples in so doing which is by witnessing of the Son in seeking the glory of the Son and by Him God the Father and no other.
