Because of the enormous groundswell of popularity the Westboro Baptist guy has among the world's population right David_1? He has 40 followers not to mention he lacks the cunning intelligence necessary to baffle the mailman who delivers his mail each day much less the aggregate of this world's leaders.

You really didn't think that through very far before you said it David_1. Lolol...

Nope.

There is a higher chance that a False prophet would arise from the many thousands of protestant denominations in the USA.

I'd say guys like that Westboro Baptist guy are bigger contenders.

The false prophet is the 2nd beast of Rev 13, look at these verses.
Revelation 13:13-14 KJV
(13) And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
(14) And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

Bringing fire down from heaven looks like Elijah, it is a false Elijah a false prophet.

It all has to do with the seer St Malachy who had a vision when visiting Rome, regarding the Popes leading up to the return of Christ. It is quite interesting to note that the prophecy regarding all previous Popes have stood up to scrutiny. The next Pope is callef Petrus Romanus or Peter the Roman and is the last Pope before Christ return.

"The sun, at one moment surrounded with scarlet flame, at another aureoled in yellow and deep purple, seemed to be in an exceedingly swift and whirling movement, at times appearing to be loosened from the sky and to be approaching the earth, strongly radiating heat."

"The sun's disc did not remain immobile. This was not the sparkling of a heavenly body, for it spun round on itself in a mad whirl, when suddenly a clamor was heard from all the people. The sun, whirling, seemed to loosen itself from the firmament and advance threateningly upon the earth as if to crush us with its huge fiery weight. The sensation during those moments was terrible."

"I feel incapable of describing what I saw. I looked fixedly at the sun, which seemed pale and did not hurt my eyes. Looking like a ball of snow, revolving on itself, it suddenly seemed to come down in a zig-zag, menacing the earth. Terrified, I ran and hid myself among the people, who were weeping and expecting the end of the world at any moment."

...descriptions of the 'miracle of fatima'

I think it's all pure speculation. There are other religions besides Catholicism that are spreading like wildfire...take Islam for instance. In countries where Islam is the entrenched religion, Christians are terribly persecuted (look at some of the pastors who have been imprisoned lately in Iran). Look at what's happening in Egypt right now. And now we have a president who entertains people associated with the Muslim Brotherhood at the White House. Things that make you go hmmmmmmm. I dunno. I kind of think, though, that whoever this false prophet is will be sneaky and even Christians, if they are not careful, could be deceived. I see certain preachers these days with thousands of people in their churches, and TV "ministries" reaching millions around the globe, not preaching the Gospel and many people follow their every word with such fervor that you would think these guys are Jesus. That scares me, honestly. When someone can be on national TV saying that homosexuality is ok and that there are many ways to Jesus....um, what is going on here? And I will not set foot in a Christian bookstore to see that Joyce Meyers has her own Bible with all of her comments and commentary. I would never dream of selling a Bible with my name on it. Not trying to offend her fans, but it really disturbs me. I think we need to be careful of those who are preaching another Gospel.
wait what!? this chick has a bible in her name!? if i were standing next to her i would scared out of my pants expecting a lightning bolt to strike down. I don't care what she teaches that is so not cool.

I don't know whether or not it will be the next pope. However, I do believe that the False Prophet, who IS A MAN, will come from the papacy. The Catholic church is the only widely accepted religion in our society today. It also is the only major one who preaches tolerance and multiple paths to heaven, as well as many majorly false doctrines. They worship the pope as infallible and give deity status to Mary. I have even heard some of them say that the priests are Christs who can forgive sin. This is clearly false and contrary to the Bible. However, I hesitate to point the finger at any one person as the False Prophet. But, this speculation is all for not, because born-again Christians will not be here to see the the False Prophet or the man of lawlessness (the Antichrist). The Bible tells us the Antichrist will not be revealed until the 'He who restrains' the spirit of the Antichrist is taken out of the way. Ladies and Gentlemen, the 'He' in this verse is the Holy Spirit, which all Christians have who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and have been born of the Spirit. At the Rapture, this Spirit will be taken away and Satan and the Antichrist will have free reign to commit their atrocities, never knowing that it is all part of God's plan; a plan laid down before the foundation of the world was lain. Realize these truths, imparted to the Church from the mouths of the Apostles, OT prophets, and Jesus Himself.

Check it out: "An inspirational new edition of the Bible interweaves the biblical text and passages with commentary, notes, prayers, annotations, and everyday life articles by the best-selling author of Approval Addiction andBattlefield of the Mind."
Joyce Meyer Bible - Amplified - Everyday Life - Bonded Leather

I'm not trying to pick on her but...I mean, am I overreacting to this?? Why do we care so much what these people think? I'm only saying this because people I know quote her like she's the next best thing to God. I have to see a Joyce Meyer or Joel Osteen blurb multiple times a day on facebook. I'm always careful to not criticize a true messenger of the Lord, but something about these people gives me the creeps. Why are they so popular??? I don't get it.

Hmmm... well i checked it out, it seems to be her own interpretation and teachings on the bible. But i don't buy it, i get a bad feeling from it. Besides if i had a book with so called wonderful teachings i would make it a free ebook. I reealize money is important but the message of god cannot be bought, or at least it shouldn't be. Bleah.....

the false prophet is not actually a person...the false prophet is the entire apostate church...identical with the second beast of revelation and babylon the harlot...

it is possible that a pope could be the man of lawlessness though...
Sure it is, It can be anything you want it to as long as you say it's future...Who can prove you right or wrong.

the false prophet IS indeed a real flesh and blood person. Not an idea. Because in Revelation it says that the anti christ and false prophet was grabbed and thrown into the lake of fire alive--how can an "idea" be grabbed and thrown into the lake of fire? It can't. These are literal people that are going to be coming onto the world stage.
