when Jesus commented about & encouraged, having faith like a mustard seed, was he referring to the SIZE of the seed, or the STRENGTH of the seed ( Because according to Matt 13:32, 13:58, & 17:20, i'm getting the impression that he was suggesting to the disciples that if their faith was UN-WAIVERING, that it could move mountains & NOT that they only needed a small amount to be effective. AM I IN ERROR?)

Could it be both? He's definitely making a size reference, because mustard seeds are very very small, but they produce very large trees. The idea is that it is very small but also very strong, and has tremendous potential within it.

Yeah I agree, looking at it in terms of both size and strength might be the answer. Small unwavering faith gets results. Great, but wavering faith does not.
But straight after saying it in matthew, he sort of contradicts himself:

Mat 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

In other words he says, if you have the smallest amount of genuine faith you can do anything. However this kind of demon required faith of the strongest kind which must come by prayer and fasting.
