SYMBOLIC AS IN 'WATER IS DOCTRINE'. SO ANOTHER DOCTRINE COMES IN (BABYLONIAN DOCTRINE ) AND OVERRIDES ( BEHEADS ) THE DOCTRINE THAT WAS IN POWER ( THE WORD )

It's literal...why else would he need such a massive boat for his family? How else do you think the ark landed on top of Mount Ararat to begin with?

I agree it is literal. Most of the history given in the bible can be taken as literal, and finally archeology is finding evidence.

Sometimes we see only the flesh in happenings and what we do, but God sees the spirit. God would like us to be aware of the spirit, too. God is spirit.

So even though the flood was literal, we are to see and know the symbolic water, also.

One God created many creatures with only a few words, and gave us the ability to assist them all. It is not surprising that a few words are symbolic of many things in creation with many uses.

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
(2Pe 3:5-7)

People perishing in two different types of symbolism-water/fire?? Perhaps the people were symbolic also!! Sheesh, this type of Platonism has itself drowned the Church in faulty symbolisms. Maybe that's why it says they were 'willingly ignorant'.
