Never said it negates the ordinance I was pointing out how everybody who is in Christ is baptized into Christ including the thief on the cross and everyone else who had died accepting Christ but was not immerse in water.
Agreed Barlygurl, My decision to be baptized was out of obedience. Some thought it unneccessary. But, for me it was necessary.

If we remember that thief who, for a single confession, was taken into Paradise, we shall realize that it was not for the merit of the life he lived that he obtained so great blessedness, but that it was his by the gift of God, Who had mercy on him. Or let us think of David, the king, whose two such grievous and awful crimes were wiped away by one word of penitence. Neither here do we see that the merit of what he did was equal to obtaining pardon for such great offense, but the grace of God did the more abound when on the occasion of true penitence He did away with all that weight of sin for one single word of genuine confession. Again, when we consider the beginnings of man's calling and salvation, which, as the Apostle tells us, is not of ourselves or of our words, but we are saved by the gift and grace of God, we shall be able clearly to perceive how the end of perfection is not "of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God Who showeth mercy," Who makes us victors over our vices, although we have no merit at all of life or labors to weigh against them, nor does the effort of our will avail for us to reach the steep summit of righteousness, or to subdue the flesh which we are bound to use... For the outcome of all good flows from His grace, Who hath bestowed so great an eternity of bliss and such immeasurable glory , with manifold generosity, upon the weak will and the short life-work of man.

My Bible say Rom 6:3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? What that mean? That mean that the Thief on the Cross,Adam and Moses, all Prophets and righterious people of Old Testament got their bath for forgiveness of sins in the mystery of water and blood from Christ ribs in the second of Christ death. That is how the Thief got his bath for forgiveness of sins and entered to Heavens which was closed from Adam since Thief who was 1st man who stepped there since Adam was expelled. After him many entered.

In the bible as we know that we are to be baptised to be saved. yet at the cross/stake were Jesus and the thief were, The thief was not baptised yet Jesus said to him today he will be in paradise. So did Jesus let one slip sort to say? Please before you answer this question? I mean this question not to stir Doubt, or to stir up fall outs and cause many to argue. As we have seen in previous chat rooms. This is a question that recently came to my head, and I would apprieciate anyone who can elaborate on the question. Thank you! God Bless.
If he was a jewish man then it's likely that he was baptized.

We get baptized because we are saved, not in order to be saved. Neither the thief on the cross nor John the Baptist were baptized. Water will not save anyone. Only the blood of Christ will save. Baptism is nothing more than a ceremonial ordinance. Once a person confesses, then repents and surrenders to Christ as Lord and Savior, that person is saved. In order to become a Christian, that person must follow Jesus example and be baptized. If a person is truly saved (surrendered to the Lordship of Christ) that person will be baptized, unless of course like the thief and John the Baptist, they meet their end before baptism is possible. There are also many people like my son. He has a slight autism, and is terrified of water, but he is as saved as anyone. If baptism saves, there is no need for Christ. If baptism saves, then the preacher who performs the baptism is the savior.

Amen. What an excellent understanding of Scripture.

Not to mention in the book of Acts there are numerous people who are saved before being baptized (the Apostle Paul, Cornelius, etc.).

In fact it is totally twisted. No one who isnt baptized wont enter to Heavens and that is what Bible out of doubt says.

the thief on the cross did not skip baptism. if baptism was a requirement for salvation, no one in the OT was ever saved.

Spiritually they were baptized unto Moses who was a type of Christ. 1 Corinthians 10. The reference to baptism in the Holy Bible are not simply references to physical baptism but spiritual baptisms that take place when we believe. Baptism is often misunderstood by the physical act when in actuality its symbolic of what has already taken place spiritually when we believe in Christ.

I always looked at it as faith and belief being the key... "Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? 41 "And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong." 42 And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom....Baptism is a demonstration of that faith, like communion, or church attendance. Christ did as he always did...loving the sinner and forgiving in return for faith and love. I'm no biblical scholar...it's just what I take from the story.
