Note the index of other such "similar threads" at the bottom of the page. I don't think everyone realizes that the admins do this for us.

Since when does desire equate to something being right? Why did Paul encourage people to only marry if they can't control their sexual urges? I mean, if you can masturbate and its ok, why marry then?
How is it possible to masturbate without lust? Lets face it, that's really what it comes down to. A selfish desire to please yourself at the expense of a womans body.
Some people have strong desires to kill. Look at serial and mass murderers. Should we just assume since they have such strong desires then it must be ok?
I believe much of our sexual desires are pushed by culture. Culture tells us sex means nothing. I've seen men and women with t-shirts that say 'its just sex'. You can't turn on a tv show, or movie, or even walk through the grocery store without seeing some sexy woman. Sex is everywhere, tv, movies, online, real life. Maybe its not our desires are so naturally strong, but we live in a culture that feeds our desires and pushes them beyond what they were intended.

I'm not going to get into whether masturbation is a sin or not as I have done enough of that in the thread I referenced. But, I think you are looking at this wrong. For the sake of the argument, if masturbation is OK, why marry? Well, you marry someone because you fall in love and the next logical step is to get married after some time of courting/dating. You realize that this person is someone you want to spend your life with. So, whether a person masturbates or not has nothing to do with getting married. Now, you have to be careful when you read what Paul said about getting married because I don't think he meant to say that if you totally can't control yourself, then marry someone just to have sex. You marry someone because you love them and want to spend your life with that person, not because you can't control your urges. I hope I made sense. lol
