I have heard many people and I was also one who use to say this, We all mess up some times. I have come to the belief that a believer cannot just mess up, we willfully sin. My experience is that anytime I go to say, do, think, watch, or listen to anything that is not pleasing to God the Holy Spirit lets me know either before time or as it starts to happen. Therefore my conclusion is a believer cannot make a mistake and not obey God. We willfully sin.

Here is my reason for believing this way. The Holy Spirit only brings us the will of God, he leads us in the path of right living and I can truly say he lets me know when I am heading into sin.

Give your position and reason on a short note (no books needed).

Hi, I believe we all sin. As Christian's we are a work in progress. None of us will be the finished artical untill we go to Glory. Paul says it best in Romans 7:7-25, talking about the sin within.

We are all born sinners, hence the need for Christ to enter the world as a man, die to sin on a cross and be raised up to life on the third day. Sin is ever present in our lives for the Christian just as much as the unsaved, the only difference is that as Christians we are clensed by our faith in Jesus as Christ and saviour.

Iwant2serve, I praise the Lord Jesus that you are a man changing to TRUTH! Yes Paul do talk about the fight between flesh and spirit in Romans 7, but also in Romans Paul talks about the VICTORY, and even in Romans 7 of WHO CAN MAKE THIS WAR in me STOP... I THANK JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.... HE CAN! WHO SHALL DELIVER ME FROM THIS BODY OF DEATH????

JESUS WILL and CAN....

Dellboy why do you assume that if the body wars against the spirit that the flesh ALWAYS win or even SOMETIMES win? Is it not the EXACT same Paul that says,,,, Jesus lives in me? Now do you think that Jesus in Paul is LOSING to the flesh, even ONCE? Nope He does not, and NEVER will lose even once in ANY flesh....

Did Jesus not say.... Come to me and I will set you free? And did He not say if I make you free you are free indeed! My dear friends reading this..... Jesus does not save half-way, or 10% or even 99%. If Jesus makes you free from evil.... Destroy the works of satan IN YOU, you are FREE!!!!!!

Look why Jesus was manifest..... 1 John3:8... He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Who still thinks that if Jesus destroyed the works of SATAN in your life, you can still do what satan wants you to do?

It happens all the time. Either we mess up or we sin. We willfully sin. we are aware of our every action. There is no excuse.

The bible says that Jesus came not to condemn but to save.
There is no righteous not even one.
God will not stop the work he has done to us until the day we finish the race.

It is impossible for a Christian not to sin, we can still sin unintentionally or even sin without realising we are. Yes Holy Spirit has nagged me many times when i am about to make a wrong choice with a larger impact as a result of commiting a sinful act, however it is still possible to sin without knowing it.

Christ raised the bar with sin, he told us that just thinking something bad about someone is same as commiting murder, or looking at someone with a lustful thought is same as adultry with them, therefore its impossible to avoid sin in our daily lives.

The more we grow as a Christian and the more we follow Jesus, the less likely we are going to knowingly and willingly commit sin, but we all have our struggles and temptations which we fall for, we are still human after all, so we all will still willingly commit some kind of sin in our Christian lives, even if we may not spot it is a sin.

i see messing up as an accident, we have a choice we don't choose to mess up, sometimes we might mess up in ignorance, but if one chooses to sin knowing they are sinning, thats rebellion. So i just keep in mind God is watching me, so if the thought of doing some thing i know is wrong comes to mind, its easier to shun.

John 14;26 You said all that needs to be said. The hard part is OBEYING HIM Speaking for some of us guys we no where to click and where not to click. I think a brother in the LORD for direct accountability is a great help make a understanding to give your brother all your account info for the internet. That will help stop a lot of the lust issues LOL.

I agree when is sin never willful, it is always pondered before it ever comes to fruition as James said in James
James 1:14Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away.
So what does one do to stop this from being?

So in response to what you said, what should ones focus (thought process) be on? what keeps one sinning here and now? and what delievers one from sinninghere and now? Now do not get me wrong I am not saying we can 100% stop because I know I can't predict the future but I can take control of today by what way?

No evil can, yet it takes belief just like the woman who believed all she had to do was just touch his garment and she would be healed. No doubt she 100% believed and this is the way one is delivered Cobus no other way except to believe and trust God will do what God said he will do and God will do this in you, yet it is only one day at a time Cobus for we do not know if tomorrow will even be here, therefore as Paul instructed to die daily and thus be alive daily and as Christ even said take no thought of tomorrow for this enough trouble in today brother. Step by step, trusting all the way having no doubt in God's abundant salvation through his Son Christ Jesus, the way, the truth and the life all revealed in and from the resurrected Christ at the cross

Yet if you are in belief 100% that you are made alive to Christ by the resurrection of christ and dead to sin no second guessing then you are dead to sin and this is only accomplished daily by dieing to flesh daily thus being alive to God daily
Romans 6:11 but read from 6:1 and see what the new life brings to you and learn to walk in this new life each and every day growing in the grace of our Lord and Savior

Yes Broither in the twinkling of an eye we react badly beforew we have a chance to stop the bad reaction to a given situation, and that is why God wants us to be wise as a sepent to stop this from being. God reveals this to each individually and it is never forthe purpose of being proud and or boiastful it is for humility in God by the cross

God wants us each to be able to live in him above any of our circumstances, mne bein an ex-alcoholic by God am freed to be able to go to a bar have alcohol in my home and not be swayed by it
Because brother perfect love casts out all fear, and one can live above circumstances. It is fear that the enemy survives on and has trapped a many of people. As Christ said it is the sick that need a Doctor not the self righteous.Just some meat for thought Brother

I have no idea what this has to do with my post. FYI Yeshua submitted to the authority HE placed here John. Yeshua didnt have to repent from any sin. HE just showed HIS accountablity to HIS word thats it. Anybody without someone they are accountable to on this earth can not be a leader period that is how GOD has set it up. It protects us from becoming a big fat head with the ego to match. No man is an island. Yeshua submitted to HIS own Word. HE set the standard for all.

You said the hard part is obeying and I responded to that, that it is not hard to obey him, obedience is by Faith in christ and never sad anything about Christ having to repent
now it is hard to obey Christ if one is not first dead to self, via the cross and then alive to God by hte resurrection at the cross per romans 6:1-11. Anyway was posting to be helpful that is all

So homwardbound, Am I right in thinking that you consider yourself to be sin free and incapable of sining?
No only God is and in God whom I trust keeps me from but if I do I am elated over the fact that I and you and all have an advocate
1 John 2:1My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

we are to be this by Faith

Philippians 3:3For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh

we are to be dead to sin and alive to God constantly Brother, and the more you are this the less one will sin and you won't be crediting yourself for it because you would be too busy worshipping in the spirit of God where there is no time for flesh and sin. But again if we do sin we have Jesus chrsit the righteous one that makes constant intercession for us all that beleive.
In Christ the stress, fear and worry are taken away while the world keeps throwing tons of work on us, stress, worry, and all that garbage. God promised to see us through, and this does not mean we do not work. Rather it means we work all the more and all the harder, but now with a joy in doing so, in place of the old I do not like this or that my boss made me and on and on with the complaints of and about this world that all do that are alive in the flesh trying to attain being born again by doing what is right and being all stressed out over it
That all ends when one goes to the cross dies with Christ at the cross, is thus baptized and then risen again by the operation of God
Read it Romans 6:1-11 explains the full operation of God by faith in God it is done in you what we all are trying to get done in us by being good little stewards and not making it. It is by Faith in the finished work of Christ Jesus and the door opens and rest enters God's rest
Thanks for askiing

Yes brother sinning is a choice we all make at times. But it does not have to be so. God gave us free will choice and we abuse that liberty when we choose to sin. Lots of people have said, "the devil made me do it and that's why I sinned." No that is a lie from the pits of Hell. We choose to sin. No way around that

You all are talking about outward sins. What about thoughts?

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts.
