Pretty much what the title says.... I want to hear what all you guys think :p
Let's say you(A christian) gets into a car accident and you get a head injury. You are put into a coma and when you wake up you have amnesia. Is it possible that when you wake up that you've forgotten who you are, where you live, and even your faith in God?

Can't wait to hear your guys opinion on it :)

if you forgot everything, you probably would need to relearn it.
including the Gospel.
if you mean can something like that 'un-save' a saved person - my hunch would be no:)
but who can say?

Out of curiosity, does this have relevance to anything in particular?
Did someone tell you this happened to them?

That's a deep question. But considering there is a difference between the physical and spiritual, I believe your soul remains in tact.

After all what is the definition of faith but the evidence of things not seen. Amnesia does not erase God's law from your heart. People with this still know right from wrong even if they don't know their own name or what religion they belonged to.

I can't wait, either.

I have two friends who are bipolar. One lives, thinks, and lives through her Christian beliefs but says that if she doesn't take her medicine life seems so overwhelming bad that it is almost impossible to keep herself from suicide without help from friends. When she has her meds, life seems completely different.

I have watched a personality change after open heart surgery. Can our life in the Lord be affected by how our body works?

(3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
(4) to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
(5) who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

In the case of amnesia from an accident, I would say the keeping by God's power overrides our sudden 'apparent' absence of faith.

Well, faith is only relevant as long as there is adequate thinking capacity with memory retention. In the case of Amnesia, Dementia or Alzheimer's, where there is a range of memory loss, yes, faith can be "forgotten" as well as no longer remembering the knowledge of love ones and even the knowledge of one's identity.

In the case of Amnesiacs, they can hear and accept the Gospel today, but when you go visit them the following day, not only do they not remember meeting you, they don't remember the conversation either. So, you tell them the Gospel again and then gain the following day and gain... That's Amnesia for ya.

It's not like you only "forget" your faith; you forget entire chunks of your life. Having said that, where did I park my car? :D

No, not possible. Man judges by appearances, but God judges by the heart. There will be many homosexuals, atheists, muslims, and hindus in heaven while plenty of professing christians will miss out. I'm not in the least bit upset by that.

Sorry, but scripture does not support that at all.

Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me"

If these people come to believe in Jesus as their savior and are born again (spiritually born) before they die then they will be in Heaven. But if they do not believe in the only one that can save us then they will spend eternity in another place.

The born again experience is life changing. Once a person is saved they will refrain from any lifestyles that are displeasing to God, because they know they are sinful. The change is very noticeable when you see gay people turning straight (or refraining from relationships with the same sex) and the most vicious and angry murderers suddenly glowing with so much love in them that makes people wonder what has happened to them overnight. Do a search on Karla Faye Tucker.

As for Christians... if a person has been born again from above then they are a child of God. The title Christian is very overused, sadly, and not all have become a child of God.

i heard a woman the other day with her mother talk of an auto accident where
the girl went into a comma...dont remember how long. Brain damage, forgot everything.
she said she even had to relearn how to swallow i remember.

Her Mother said it was difficult communicating but that when this girl prayed it
was totally sensible and clear. So the only time ive heard of that actual experience
the answer was "No" her faith was intact.

When sins are forgiven and cleansed by the blood of Christ and imputed righteousness is received by faith the moment one believes upon the Son, the sinner is justified and put in right standing with God. These are God's initiations that are irrevocable and involve the human soul and can never be lost. The memory center or that part of the brain that is effected and results in amnesia has nothing to do with nor has any effect upon these divine imputations that come from God through faith. The incorruptible seed of God's word and the Spirit that we are born of takes place in the heart and quickens the human spirit to be alive unto God and we are placed and hid with Christ in God. We are made complete and fully justified the moment we believe. Amnesia, nor a coma, nor any breakdown of the mind through cancer or some transmitted disease can separate the believer from the faith or the love of God, who has been justified by the blood of Christ and the grace of God through faith.

No actually.... I'm just curious and have been thinking on the subject lately... also it might be good to know the answer to this question in case an Atheist challenges me to a question similar to this :p
Thanks for everyone's opinions :)
