My questions is because of a new bible Study. Many verses in the bible
replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

Some people and denominations believe that in the moment of baptize are really saved and sins are forgiven. They said: "You are not saved with faith prayer because It is not biblical".

I am Christian and I know since I received Jesus into my heart as Lord and Savior I was saved.

What Do you think?

okay, if we bring baptism into the mix...

1Co 1:13-18
(13) Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
(14) I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
(15) Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
(16) And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
(17) For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
(18) For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

and

1Co 15:1-4
(1) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
(2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
(3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
(4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Jude 1:5 "I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not."

Matthew 24:13 "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved."

1 Corinthians 15:2 "through which also you are obtaining salvation, if you bear in mind the words in which I proclaimed it -- unless indeed your faith has been unreal from the very first." (Weymouth New Testament)

Now let's return to the KJV.

Matthew 10:22 "And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved."

Now ask yourself at what point these following words of Jesus are telling us that we will save our lives and also why Jesus there said we must save our lives by doing this if his death already saved us?

Mark 8:35 "For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it."

Next we see Jesus gave us a lesson that it is how we walk which saves us: John 13:10 "Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all."

Notice Paul, speaking to the church who were already believers, speaks future tense here: Romans 5:9 "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."

And here also to the church and also future tense: Romans 5:10 "For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life."

So then, why does it sometimes seem to say it as though we are already saved? Romans 8:24 "For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?"

Hope this helps. There is much more there if you dig for it. Many yet need to see this, so learn it and share it.

Well said Kardi.

Those that endure to the end, EVEN THOUGH the world hate them, they still have to endure to the end..

I found this in my life.... I was part of the world and would also have hated the saints for being saints for God's name sake... Saints has laid there lives down for God's gospel and Word and Name... That is why people of the World hate them because they are SAINTS...

Why did the World hate Jesus? And they hated Him for no reason... Only because He was holy and not LIKE THEM... Same reaon Saints are hated,,,, They are not like the World...

So this is what I believe... When we lay down our sinning lives, we DIE to the World and to sin, And the World HATE us for that... But if we endure to the end when we died off ALL SIN, the God saves us to be IN HIM... SAVED... and HE IN US...SAVED...

Read John 17 the whole Prayer.... and 1 John 3 The whole chapter... these two chapters explains the SALVATION COMPLETE perfectly... You will never doubt the state of a saved person again.... And to be ABSOLUTELY certain... Read Ephesians 4:11 to 13 to see just how thorough God saves....

Enjoy God's Word my friend... And be certain to also read it in a KJV... It just STANDS out how powerful God's Salvation is.

I am Christian and I know since I received Jesus into my heart as Lord and Savior I was saved.

The ordinance, water baptism, is done because of salvation, not to be saved. Proponents of baptismal regeneration (water baptism is essential for salvation) often quote the passage you provided to justify it without interpreting it in a manner consistent with other passages; it is unscriptural. Then there are some on the other end of the spectrum who claim water baptism is unnecessary, that as well is unscriptural.

Let's see what the scripture says...
Baptism is symbolic of what has already taken place in the heart - dead to sin and resurrected to newness of life.

Rom 6:3-5
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

The apostles always baptised people after they were saved...
Philip told the Ethiopian Eunuch that if he believe in Jesus he would be qualified for baptism:

Acts 8:36-38
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

The Philippian jailor asked Paul and Silas what he must do to be saved and they replied "believe", then baptism occurred afterwards:
Acts 16:30-33
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
32 And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
33 And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

Another often used passage for baptismal regeneration defense is John 3:5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God". Proponents claim that "born of water" denotes water baptism but that's untrue. Examining the overall flow of scripture it is clear that born of water represents being born again/cleansed by the word of God:
Psa 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
John 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
God's word is the cleansing agent of the heart that brings spiritual life.
Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. It is the sacred word of God, the gospel of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, that activates faith upon the hearer and which brings spiritual life.
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word. Here we see that water symbolizes God's word.

Finally, another proof that salvation comes by the grace of God through by faith (Eph 2:8,9) and not faith + baptism is that the malefactor on the cross did not have the opportunity to be baptised yet was assured of Paradise upon death. Likewise, the people in Antioch only believe and were saved, there is no record of them being baptised: And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord (Acts 11:21).
This confirms that salvation comes the moment you repent and believe in Jesus, then baptism should be done in obedience to Christ's command (Matt 28:19) but it's not what saves you. It is the blood of the Lamb that saves.

So Judith, your sins were forgiven the moment you repented and believed in Jesus as your Saviour, and you can be assured of eternal life.

Hi Judith17 great question, first of all Romans 10:9 says "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." So if you have asked Jesus to come in your heart to be Lord and Savior of your life and believe that He is the Son of God, then you are saved. Second I agree with starfield - baptism in because of salvation in Acts 8:37 "And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Thirdly I would advise to stay away from any people, doctrines or denominations that preach against or twist Gods Word(the Bible) in any way, because Christianity is not a religion its a relationship with God.
I hope this helped you, GodBless! :)
