what does Judaism's Passover Seder have to do with Jesus and what He commanded?
Same as the passover lamb. John has dipped Jesus in the water was the sign that we are going to enter a new stage as Joseph had enter into Egypt to save the children of God ( By dipping his coat in the Goat's blood was the sign). Everyone must be purified through suffering and which Jesus was showing us the way to the Kingdom.

John 14:5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

John 14:6
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Matthew 5:12
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Matthew 21:32
For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.
( In those times, the Taxcollectors and Prostitutes were treated as outcast and which they has suffered and which helped them to related what John was speaking about)

Mark 1:2
as it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way”—

Luke 13:2
Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?

Acts 9:16
I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”

So no matter what, we must be purge from our old lifestyle in order to enter the new lifestyle.

John 19:34
Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.

Hebrews 9:22
In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Hebrews 12:4
In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.

Acts 5:20
“Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this new life.”

This is one of the commands that we must observe.

Matthew 16:24
Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

1. Love God

Mark 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
2. Love each other

Love one another. John 13:34 & 35, 15:12 & 17, Romans 13:8, 1 Thess 3:12, 4:9, 1 Pet 1:22 to cite a few.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
3. Repent of sins and seek the Kingdom of God

Jesus preached repentance. HE could not observe repentance obviously as He was without sin but HE did preach it because none of us are without sin.

Matthew 4 [SUP]17 [/SUP]From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
4. Have charity/compassion and if you have been blessed with worldly goods, give to your brethren in need.

1 John 3 :16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren Whoso hath this worlds goods, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, How dwelleth the love of God in him?
5. make disciples of the nations and baptize them
6. turn the other cheek and forgive others who persecute you. pray for them.

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Mat 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Mat 5:44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
7. Take Jesus yoke and find rest

8. think like Jesus, strive to conform your mind to God's will.

Matthew11:29
"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
Philippians2:5
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: :)

I would add to the above one of my favorite verses:

9. diligently add to your faith and bear good fruit by walk with the Holy Spirit

2 Peter 1
[h=3][/h][SUP]5 [/SUP]But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, [SUP]6 [/SUP]to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, [SUP]7 [/SUP]to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. [SUP]8 [/SUP]For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. [SUP]9 [/SUP]For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

not to be mixed with Christ.
Oh, so then we shouldn't refer Christ as the Passover lamb, andso then we should refer Him to the Easter traditions? Oh, I forgot, the pagan's has claims of that holiday. I was wondering what was Jesus trying to complete that has already been started, and was He or not the king of all Jews?

Matthew 27:37Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is Jesus, the king of the jews.

after Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper, there is no NT reference nor historical indication the church continued to observe the passover.

“The historical question is rather complex, as the history of liturgical forms generally are. To begin with, we have no manuscript of a Seder Haggadah which is early (sic) than the tenth century A.D. (Siddur Rav Saadya Gaon ).

Nearly a millennium exists between the time of Jesus and the earliest extant text. Passover Haggadoth have never been standardized but have always been shaped and reshaped by circumstances and time. The ritual has been extraordinarily versatile since the tenth century A.D. and in all likelihood was just as versatile in the preceding centuries. The claim that any ritual now in existence is identical with that used by Jesus is both anachronistic and historically suspect.

“The theological questions are equally complex. Even if it were proven (which it has not been) that a specific extant Haggadah is identical with that used by Jesus, these problems remain. The Lord’s Supper was instituted by Jesus with the words “the blood of the new covenant.” He commanded that we “do this in remembrance of Me.” But, to do what? Celebrate a Seder? Or celebrate His Sacrament? The two are simply not the same. On the night in which He was betrayed, the Blessed Savior gave His disciples something new. All that came before converged and found fulfillment in Him. All that has happened since that night has grown from that same point of convergence and fulfillment. The Galatian Christians failed to understand the radical nature of the new order found in Christ; as a result, St. Paul found it necessary to correct their Judaizing error.

“It makes no more sense for Christians to gather around a Passover Seder than it does to gather around another sacrificial lamb. The very Lamb of God has been slain, once and for all. We would not and could not offer another sacrifice. The final Sacrifice was offered on Calvary.

“Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”17“Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life,
keep the commandments.”
18“Which ones?” he inquired.Jesus replied, You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19honor your father and mother,’[SUP]c[/SUP] and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.

20“All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”
21Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

Tim.CH 1 15/17: This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.

Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting

Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. That's that.(amen)

Tim. CH 2 1/8: I EXHORT therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made by ALL men; (this is not gender related)

For kings, and for all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. (The Lords Day of Reckoning & Teaching, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!) (will you still have to be taught?)

For there is one God/Father/Plan , and one mediator between God/Father/Plan and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Who gave himself a ransom for ALL, to be testified in due time.(Pentacost)

Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not) a teacher of the Gentiles/Nations in faith and verity/sincerety.

I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

when Jesus said He had come to fulfill the law He was saying two things. the ritualistic law required a sacrifice and He filled the need of that to the full by sacrificing Himself. the demands of ritualistic law had been fully met and in this way was fulfilled. there was no further need for ritualistic sacrifices, the righteous demands of the law had been met and no longer needed to be performed. the spiritual demand of the law also had to be fufilled. that is the command to be perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect. no one could fulfill that righteous demand but Jesus. He alone was able to love us with a perfect love. and although He had always loved us in this perfect way we did not percieve it....until He demonstated it with His humiliating death to declare us debt free. Jesus commanded us to follow Him. to fulfill the law as He had by doing what He did. He did it perfectly. we will do it imperfectly. but we must follow Him even to the point of a humiliating death if that is where He leads us

In Matthew 28 it says..

So here's the SIMPLE question.
What did Jesus command us to observe?
What are some of Jesus' commands?

Please give a command followed by a Bible reference.
Let's see if we can come up with an exhaustive list of things Jesus commanded.

Please don't wax esoteric, and give us your latest deluded personal revelation.
Just go to the Bible, find his commands, list them, along with the Bible reference.
One has to begin with this:

[34] But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sad'ducees, they came together.
[35] And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, to test him.
[36] "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?"
[37] And he said to him, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
[38] This is the great and first commandment.
[39] And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
[40] On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets." Matt 22:34-40 RSV
Now, if you want to be more specific, you might check this out:

[17] And he said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? One there is who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments."
[18] He said to him, "Which?" And Jesus said, "You shall not kill, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness,
[19] Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matt 19:17-19 RSV

Your perspective is understood in what you are saying
Yet he still expects us to obey him and his commands, does he not?
That is...IF we love him
John 14:15
"If you love me, keep my commands."
He never allowed us to write our own version or perspective of his word to suit ourselves right?

It's more that it is when we fall short, he FULFILLS the rest by his sacrifice and his loving grace.
...IF he so chooses
Not IF we demand it or expect it from him
Romans 9
14What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15For he says to Moses,“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

16It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.

No one gets a get out of Jail free card just for saying Jesus name.
Those are the ones he will turn away and tell he never knew them.

When he asks us to FOLLOW him, he is asking us to know him and his ways and crucify ourselves to our own.
His word are his ways, and that is how we know him and follow him and obey him.
Because he IS the word...in the flesh.

The baptism symbolizes that we are going to leave our past behind us and starting a new life with a clean conscience, but in order to do that we must go through suffering as the Hebrew has done in the land of Egypt.

1 Peter 3:21
and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Matthew 6

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?31Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.34Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
This thread is a refreshing reminder for us all of Our Masters Commands and Teaching.

Love elaborates the 10 Commandments in a way only the Light of the World reveals within us.

Wonderful.

Love is the force that exceeds the Righteousness of the Pharisees indeed.

Peace and Blessings to you all, and all Glory to Heavenly Father and Yahshua the Messiah.

God commanded Adam and Eve not to eat of the forbidden fruit (Genesis 2:16-17). But, they did not believe God and did not obey God.

Unbelief and disobedience were joined together then.

May faith and obedience be joined together now.

See Romans 1:5, Romans 10:16, Romans 16:26

"...what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?” - 1 Peter 4:7.Peter the Apostle sees a link between obedience and salvation.

"In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: Whosoever does not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother." (1John 3:10).

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. John 3:5-7

Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. John 6:27-29

Re: What did Jesus command us to do?

Matthew 26
Institution of the Lord’s Supper

26Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” 27And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, 28for this is my blood of thec covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”
The "breaking of bread" is something which is done only in the context of a meal. In fact, the Talmud (Jewish Oral Law), uses the term only in reference to the blessing at the start of the meal. The one who says the blessing over the bread is referred to as the one who "breaks bread". At every meal, it was, and is the custom to have bread and wine. The blessings over the bread and wine are said at the beginning of the meal. The one who recited the blessing, did so while literally breaking the bread. Following are some examples of this from the Talmud (the quotations are exact) :
Breaking of Bread the Jewish Understanding

Jesus was respecting their traditions and laws, but in our times He would of have follow our customs, like breaking the wine glass as it is being tossed into the fireplace or on the floor, and or some custom is to pour some of the wine on the ground for the ones that are not with us before giving it to the guest. But what Jesus has done was fulfilling their traditions. So all the traditions that Jesus has performed were jewish customs. He had made a promise that He was going to work with Abraham's seeds only and by the customs of Abraham's seeds He had end it.
